Maintainer of various Pokémon community projects, contributor to others, Play! Pokémon tournament organizer in Chicago - I like Pokémon, if you couldn't tell.
Of the reviews for BDSP so far, it seems like the main positive is that it's a faithful remake of Diamond and Pearl, and the main negative is that it's a faithful remake of Diamond and Pearl.
Talked with the judging staff afterwards, and if I didn't drop, I might have received a DQ - for marked cards! The oversized cards aren't cut to as high a standard as regular cards, so some cards could understandably be identified.
After what was probably the longest deck check I've ever witnessed, the deck was returned with "we're still not sure if this is playable, but finish up the round and talk to us afterwards".
I lost game 3, and then dropped (as I had intended to no matter what).

competed in the North American International Championship with a deck made purely of novelty jumbo cards because, well, the rules never said he couldn’t. 👑

, there are so many new ways to explore the world of Pokémon! Trainers can look forward to even more with an all-new core series Pokémon RPG title in development for the second half of 2019!
To say that Pokémon has been a big part of my life would be an understatement. Without Pokémon, I likely wouldn't have gotten into web development, which has led me to my current career. Pokémon has created many longtime friendships, local and international.

The people who are saying "you won't like Detective Pikachu unless you're a Pokémon fanatic" would probably also say "you won't like Finding Nemo unless you're a marine biologist"
For his birthday in 2009,
@Creatures_Inc
gifted Mr. Ishihara cards based off of his two dogs at the time, Pokey and Jeekun. Both dogs unfortunately passed away the next year (at 11 and nearly 16 years old, respectively), leaving these cards as a beautiful memory of the pups.
Two years ago at NAIC 2022, I hid behind big cards, playing a deck made of oversized cards.
This year at NAIC 2024, I hid behind big screens, entering match results on Day 1 and running the tournament software for TCG Masters on Day 2.
What will NAIC 2026 bring?
Reading through the more negative reviews of DetPika, and they generally boil down to:
- This movie was too serious for its own good
- This movie was too silly for its own good
"Pokémon do not speak English (or any other human language). The only exception to this rule is Meowth from Team Rocket. (Animation only)"
This was written after Pokémon: The First Movie came out
“After all this time absorbed in my research, it’s time to relive the old days with some Pokémon battling!”

…who could it possibly be? 👀😉
