Are you marathon training?
The weather tomorrow is terrible, 60+mph winds are very possible.
Go swimming, go to the gym, take a rest day; but don't risk your life just because it says "16 miles" or whatever on your training plan.

I'm seeing nothing but vitriol for Garmin today. Before typing, please remember that the people working probably 18 hour+ days right now are living breathing human beings doing their very best in awful circumstances.
Well that was incredible!

The first parkrun in Austria took place this morning, in Hellbrunn Palace Park, Salzberg.
One of the things I love is that this clip of 30 people walking, jogging and running could have been taken at a parkrun anywhere in the world.

Over 140,000 people around the world chose to start their Christmas Day at parkrun this morning - volunteering, running, walking, chatting, watching, exchanging hundreds of thousands of 'MERRY CHRISTMAS's.
Thank you, Paul and Season's Greetings everyone 😊
The evening of the first Friday of the year is the busiest period for
#parkrun
registrations.
In the time it's taken you to read this tweet, four people have joined the parkrun family

The fact that Christmas Day parkrun has always been such a success is yet more evidence that it's 'so much more than a run'. Thank you
@paulsintonhewit
for your vision 😊
Lots & lots of results still to be processed...
...but we can confirm that for the first time, over 100,000 people chose to start their Christmas Day with a 5k parkrun! ♥️

Blimey! What a busy day for Yorkshire & Humber parkruns, thanks to the better part of 400 volunteers :-O
It's become traditional to produce a pretty map of doubles in the region. With so many events it's getting more and more challenging, but here it is...
Today is my 49th Christmas Day and the first that I’ve spent completely on my own.
Thank you so much to everyone who’s interacted with me today. It’s really helped me to get though a day that would have been a whole lot tougher without you. 🤗
I find it fascinating that, as I type, the very last parkrunners of 2022 are crossing finish lines on the west coast of the USA and Canada.
In less than an hour, the the first parkrunners of 2023 will start in New Zealand.

Ada decided this morning that:
a) she wanted to go parkrun
b) dress and cardi was the appropriate attire
c) she needed to carry a fluffy bunny
d) removing yesterday’s facepaint wasn’t happening
Result => 8 minute PB 🤯

Today is a good day...
For umpteen months, one of my Friday tasks has been to apply
#parkrun
cancellations 😢
Today, I applied them for 24/25 July, for the first time, it was to less than half of events 🎉
I don't know much about

, but parkrun:

On 6 January 2017, at about 20:30, this lovely group of people and I watched as, for the first time, we achieved 10,000
#parkrun
registrations in a day.
Today, for the first time since the COVID pause, we'll achieve that again.
So excited about what 2024 will bring

I've taken tomorrow off work for no reason other than to walk as much of the Wakefield Way as I can.
Now it's 'out there' I can't wimp out.
Wish me luck...

parkrun 2022 has begun!
Happy New Year everyone - here's hoping 2022 is amazing 🎉
Let me put this another way...
Assuming it's a ransomware attack.
It's like complaining to the council that they've not replaced a bridge that a terrorist has blown up.
It's not their fault. It takes time. Be patient.

Had a headache. Wasn’t sure if it was jab related or ‘busy week’ related. Still don’t know, but a nice steady plod has made it vanish. For the first time in ages, 30 minutes continuous running felt normal. Getting there… 😀
By the way, 20:00 to 21:00 on the first Friday of the year is the 'Golden Hour' for
#parkrun
registrations - almost always the busiest hour of the year.
Right now, we're seeing a registration every 3 seconds.
On the date of my first

in March 2012, there were 16,603 results.
There are already more than that today.

TWENTY FIVE MINUTES CONTINUOUS RUNNING!
Thanks again to
@freeweeklytimed
- 15 minutes in I was really struggling but Jordi didn't give up so I could either 💪
I love a challenge, but when that challenge is to put something you love on ice for a bit; that's hard.
I feel emotionally empty right now but I'm so grateful to my colleagues, friends and the wider

for their help and support. We're going to get through this 💪
Sadly, this coming Saturday, for the first time in 15 years, there will be no parkrun anywhere in the world.
We will share more from parkrun Founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt later today.
We will get through this, together ❤️

I did my 399th parkrun on Saturday.
There’s now a nagging thought in my head that I could do my 400th at the 400th parkrun Cieszyn in Poland/Czechia on the 21st.
Must stay away from 😬
Let that sink in…

Now restrictions have lifted it’s been great to spend the entire, beautiful sunny day, fixing my parents’ computer for the first time since September 🙄
It’s comforting to know that right at this moment, in Northern Ireland, something like 5,000 people are walking, jogging, running and volunteering at parkruns in Northern Ireland. This time next week in England… 😎
Who’d have thought, nearly 20 years ago, when 5 volunteers put on a time trial for 13 runners that someone would do that One - Thousand - Times?!
No-one, that’s who!
Amazing 🤩
