Hi! I’m Jakz, a PNW nature photographer who’s friends with a crow named Clumsy. I love sharing photos and stories of the places I get to explore. I also share lots on my insta/tiktok (same username).
Thanks for following along on my adventures!
My 15 y/o son says I’m wasting time & embarassing him by making videos of toilet paper funerals, I say I should keep making them because I think they’re funny. Who’s right?

2/2 I remember sitting in their living room, shaken, crying, apologetic. I kept repeating, “I just don’t want him to know where I live.” Terrifying. The woman was a gem, “We are teachers, this is a safe house, you stay as long as you need to.”

When my sons were little, 1 in stroller, I had a man follow me from the park towards home, harassing me for blocks. A block from home I stopped at a house of a neighbor I’d never met & asked for help. The husband confronted the man, he said he was just “having fun.” 1/2

AITA for running though the freshly cut grass and coloring my feet green? (This happened a few years ago on St. Patrick’s day, I still laugh at the timing of it!)

Today was the first day I truly felt unsafe on a trail. I just wanted to enjoy the foggy forest, and while I did for a bit, someone ruined that. I’m okay, but I’m mad. I was prepared for a situation like this, but I wish I didn’t have to be. Be safe out there, friends.

This article gives me hope that not all will continue to be deceived and manipulated by this shameful President. Though I know you will face great backlash for it, thank you for sharing this.

While the wife stayed with me and my boys, the husband followed the man on foot until he went into a house. He told me where the house was, so I would know to avoid that area. They then kept watch while I went home. I tear up at the memory of their kindness.
I thought I’d capture a different perspective of some of my favorite flowers in my garden.
What flowers have you paused to admire this week? I’d love to see photos!

I like T-Rex and I cannot lie
You other dinos can't deny
That when a Rex walks in with its itty bitty limbs
And its sharp teeth in your face
You get chomped

When was the last time you paused and contemplated how incredible it is that we get to live in a world with birds? Especially corvids like this Steller’s jay! They never cease to amaze me and leave me with a sense of awe. 💙🖤
There is no way to convey how massive some of the redwoods are, so I thought I’d stand next to the tree for perspective. After taking this selfie, did I hug this tree? Yes, yes I did.
I posted this pic in my insta stories and it only took a few minutes for dms to roll in mansplaining how I shouldn’t be shooting in manual. Wish I was joking.🙄
Favorite bridge appreciation post, because it’s totally normal to have a favorite bridge, right?!
If you have photos of your favorite bridges, I’d love to see them!
My son was helping me bake once & accidentally dropped a squeeze bottle of food dye on the floor. It initially didn’t spill, but our dog came and snatched it off the floor before we could grab it. He ran through the house leaving red dye on all of our carpets.

Nearly every morning, if towhee sees movement in the window, he will quickly fly out from the bushes and sit on the patio chair like he just did this morning. Of course I can’t resist taking him a peanut when he does this. He has me trained quite well, it seems.😊
Every morning towhee comes to say hello. Even after having a crow friend visit daily for several years now, the fact a towhee decided to befriend me is still surprising! These moments happen daily, yet every time I pause in gratitude. So weird, so wonderful.
We stood in the rain together today. As the raindrops collected on his feathers, he watched me quietly. It’s moments like these, feeling inundated by the storms of life, that I am so grateful he continues to arrive at just the right moment. 🖤
It’s been just over a month of making my

videos. To all who have followed, liked, and shared, I want to give a huge thanks! You have been supportive, kind, encouraging, and embraced absurdities with me. I am so grateful!
My first tulip has officially bloomed for this spring! Delicate and dusky, not quite red, not quite pink…a beautiful pop of color for my yard on these dark, cloudy days.
Omg. What is happening?!
Friends, if you see my toilet paper funerals being shared in the wild by any notable sources, let me know! I’d love to see how far this travels.🤣

I can’t resist sharing a few more photos from

’s demonstration last night in Portland. It was another unforgettable time seeing them! Come back and play the PNW any time!🤘🏼🖤

One night our family woke up to gunshots. Our then 80-something, semi-blind neighbor thought a raccoon had been getting into his garbage, so he stayed up late one night sitting in his outside doorway to keep watch. He ended up shooting up his barbecue. We moved soon after that.
I know I’m just a random stranger on the internet, but I mean every word of what I am about to say-
