We're now fewer than 100 days from the start of next season. So I had to put out a top-100 player list of my own.
Check out my top 100 impact transfer rankings from the offseason, with an SEC team landing the No. 1 spot.
“Texas isn’t the No. 5 team in the country.”
“UCLA isn’t the No. 2 team in the country.”
How about it’s because they’re playing the No. 1 team in the country?
If you’re still denying how good Gonzaga is, you’re blind.
My mother passed away this evening, thankfully without any more pain. I grew up without a father so I appreciate everything you were able to do for me. I just hate that I only got 31 years with you.
Hopefully, I can use the next 30+ years to show you raised me well. I love you.
Here’s my current All-ACC picks:
1st Team
RJ Davis (UNC)
PJ Hall (Clemson)
Blake Hinson (Pitt)
Kyle Filipowski (Duke)
Reece Beekman (UVA)
2nd Team
Judah Mintz (Cuse)
DJ Horne (NC State)
Hunter Sallis (Wake)
Norchad Omier (Miami)
Armando Bacot (UNC)
RJ Davis would be my POY.
I’m confused because wasn’t Kentucky fans mad about Antonio Reeves being linked to other teams despite not entering the portal and now they’re doing the EXACT same thing with Tre Mitchell?
A lot of buzz around Kentucky and Tre Mitchell…
6’9 PF from West Virginia. Was a starter and averaged 12pts/6reb while shooting 36% from 3. Played at both Texas and UMass before WVU and performed well. Would be a very good addition…
Kansas topped NIL payroll numbers in MBB for the 2023-24 season, spending more than $4 million in NIL money, sources tell
@JTalty
.
Inside the NIL approaches of the basketball teams that fared best and worst this season ➡️ (VIP)
Here’s the guys that reportedly was given a bag by Pitt:
Nelly Cummings - Is from Pittsburgh
Blake Hinson - Didn’t play last 2 years
Greg Elliott - Bench player from Marquette who rejoined an assistant
Federiko Federiko - JUCO big who WVU parted ways with
How much this cost?
And there’s your first upset of the tournament, as Duquesne beats BYU, 71-67 to move onto the Round of 32!
They take on the winner of Illinois and Morehead State on Saturday.
Want to make my stance on conference tournaments clear.. I love them.
The fact that on March 1st, 350 teams are still eligible to win a national title is fun and the complete opposite of college football.
I mean, IUPUI could go on a run and win it all, which is cool in my eyes.
This is going to be my goal for the next few years. A year ago I didn’t know if it was doable but I absolutely do now. Just have to keep grinding and doing what I can.
You’re a Duquesne alum and spend your likely only time writing about your school ever to bash Pitt? And to be ignorant about the likely next coach?
Also, Pitt fans have been unanimously supportive of the Dukes so to do this ahead of the big game is petty and unwarranted.
My SEC preseason power rankings for 2021-22:
1. Arkansas
2. Kentucky
3. Tennessee
4. Alabama
5. Auburn
6. Mississippi State
7. LSU
8. Florida
9. Ole Miss
10. Texas A&M
11. Missouri
12. South Carolina
13. Vanderbilt
14. Bama Football
15. Squid Game
16. Georgia (they're that bad)
Guess who just got approved for a season credential pass to cover all Pittsburgh Basketball games this season?!?!?!
I’ve been a Pitt observer for over a decade so the opportunity to see them in person is just an incredible opportunity.
Excited for what this season offers.
Didn’t think I would be in a position to cover local games, let alone the NCAA Tournament itself.
But I’ve been approved to attend the first and second rounds in Pittsburgh! Even better, room and board is free for me haha!
Nike Sibande didn’t have to declare anything mid-season and could have gone somewhere else in the offseason as a grad transfer.
Him saying he’s coming back to Pitt next season is a positive sign of a good lockeroom and culture right now.
Some good news for Panther fans.
I’ve been hearing and reading about a certain mega realignment for the past few days but now folks are starting to let it out in the open. And you thought college basketball would at least take a break with major news.
SEC Basketball rankings for 19-20:
1. Florida
2. Kentucky
3. Auburn
4. Tennessee
5. Miss State
6. Bama
7. LSU
8. Georgia
9. Ole Miss
10. Arkansas
11. Texas A&M

Blackshear gives Gators edge at top. I think their 5*s will be just as good.
People are going to look at Chet Holmgrens stat sheet tonight and say that’s why he shouldn’t be a top-3 draft pick. Gonzaga doesn’t win this game without him. He was fantastic.
Time for me to go home on this flight. Can’t explain how awesome an experience this was for my first Final Four. Grateful for everyone I was able to finally meet in person after years of interactions online. Never thought I’d be anywhere near close to doing this, simply blessed.
List of teams I truly believe can win a national title:
Gonzaga
Texas
Kansas
Duke
Kentucky
Arkansas
Oregon
UCLA
Tennessee
UNC
Michigan
Illinois
Purdue
Want to add Villanova but lack of depth is concerning. Need to see more of Eric Dixon before I'm a believer.
I’ve never been to Philadelphia before even though I live in the same state. But thanks to the NCAA Tournament, that’s gonna change.
Incredibly excited and grateful for this!
As much as I’d love to slander the Big Ten, all the other teams outside of Purdue showed itself well. Can’t even blast Illinois after seeing what Arkansas did.
Boilermakers can still catch the heat though.
The Big Ten entered the Men's NCAA Tournament with 8 teams in the field of 68.
After Maryland's loss,
@B1GMBBall
is 5-5 and sit at 13th in win percentage out of 14 conferences in this tournament.
Biggest rooting guide of the season for Pitt fans.
Vols over Miss St
UConn over St. John's
Illinois over Ohio St
Kentucky over Texas A&M
FAU over North Texas
Zona over Oregon
Marquette over Prov
Nebraska over Indiana
NC St over UVA
Wazzu over Colorado
Colo St over New Mexico
Assuming WCC Player of the Year Filip Petrusev is gone, Gonzaga is in real trouble in the frontcourt for next season. They'll only have.
Drew Timme
Oumar Ballo
Anton Watson
Pavel Zakharov
Corey Kispert in small-ball lineups.
I still have the Bulldogs as a top-3 team in 2021.
Some juggernaut programs whose seasons ended either at the same time or earlier than Pitt:
Duke
Kansas
Kentucky
Arizona
Virginia
UNC
DePaul
Michigan
Purdue
Auburn
Villanova
It’s harder than it’s ever been to get to the point, don’t take runs like this for granted.
#H2P
Folks we're going to have to put Gonzaga in the same category as Duke, Kentucky and Kansas.
Doesn't matter who they lose from the year before. As long as their head coach is around...
The Bulldogs are a top-10 team annually.
This wraps up my coverage of the NCAA Tournament’s East Region. Was not only able to witness Hubert Davis and UNC cut down the nets to make the Final Four, but also Saint Peter’s historic Sweet 16 win over Purdue.
Thanks to everyone who followed along here and in Pittsburgh!
My preseason Mountain West power rankings for the 2023-24 season:
1. New Mexico
2. San Diego State
3. Boise State
4. Colorado State
5. UNLV
6. Nevada
7. Utah State
8. Wyoming
9. Fresno State
10. San Jose State

Project 3 bids for the NCAA Tournament
Pitt's off today but still plenty of things to root for on the bubble. Here's today's rooting guide.
ND over Wake
Oklahoma over TCU
Xavier over Butler
Gtown over Prov
Air Force over New Mexico
Texas over K-State
NC State over Cuse
Kansas over Cincy
DePaul over Nova
ASU over Utah
Tre Williams was on the 6-24 Duquesne team but didn’t transfer that offseason. He then sacrificed both minutes this season and literally his body in the A-10 Tournament.
Now, he’s a champion.
We just saw Alabama wet the bed to a Mountain West team, Rick Barnes lose to another low seed and the Big Ten (exists) and Gonzaga still gets the harsh judgment.
5 teams I'm higher on than most this season:
Butler (top 5 in the Big East)
Alabama (title contender)
Stanford (will make NCAAT)
Saint Louis (Sweet 16 team)
New Mexico (top 4 in Mountain West)
Now that Pitt is on the bubble, time to pray for other team's downfalls. Here's today's rooting guide.
Creighton over Butler
Hou over Texas
UNC over VT
Ark over Miss St
UCF over Cincy
Stanford over Wazzu
SIU over Indiana St
USC over Colorado
UNLV over Nevada
Mizzou over Ole Miss
It's none of my business but everyone keeps saying how the WCC doesn't prepare Gonzaga to win in the NCAA Tournament.
So y'all telling me the Big Ten doesn't prepare Ohio State for... Oral Roberts?
#NCAATournament
BREAKING—The NCAA rejected Oklahoma State’s appeal and has banned the MBB program from the 2022 postseason, sources told
@CBSSports
. This is the first postseason ban handed down by the NCAA in relation to the 2017 FBI investigation into bribery/fraud in CBB recruiting.
Final scores in the Pittsburgh’s triple-header
Dayton 72, Duquesne 52
Pittsburgh 65, Louisville 53
Robert Morris 74, Nor Kentucky 64
All 3 local teams were underdogs coming in but 2 out of 3 got convincing wins.
Incredibly glad I went to all 3 and look forward to more games!
Right now, it's looking like the 3 bid thieves from today, (Duquesne, Oregon, NC State) are all going to win their first-round games.
Whether they were seeded properly or not, they handled their business.
Pac-12 basketball rankings for 2019-20:
1. Arizona
2. Washington
3. UCLA
4. Oregon
5. Colorado
6. USC
7. Arizona State
8. Oregon State
9. Utah
10. Stanford
11. Washington State
12. Cal
USC has talent but don't trust them while Colorado is a sleeper.
Very happy to say that I will be attending Pitt Basketball’s practice and media session tomorrow.
It’s a great opportunity to see things up close and in person and will help me immensely as a Cbb analyst. Very appreciative of this.
@gregwrubell
As a Pitt fan, let me warn BYU fans. There aren't many like Dave Rose out there, so you should be thankful you have him. I wish we still had Dixon. No program is entitled to NCAA Tournament appearances, and the Panthers are finding that out the hard way.
An awesome day got even better, got to meet the great Fran Fraschilla (
@franfraschilla
) in person!! Turns out, he reads
@BustingBrackets
as well so y’all should too!
For those who don't know, this is the father of a top-50 freshman talent who could start at 90% of programs in the country next season. And has no issue bringing in another guard for the team's sake.
This is the Gonzaga culture that has made the program what it is today.
#ZagUp
What a year for Stan Johnson and LMU, the first WCC team to beat Gonzaga, BYU and Saint Mary’s in the same season, led by 31 from Cam Shelton.
Portland was closest in 2014 but got swept by the Gaels.
97% of players would’ve entered the portal last year if they had the stats John Hugley had along with the team record.
He stayed and played a big part in recruiting the players that led Pitt to the NCAA Tournament.
If nothing else, give him the respect and grace just for that.
Just want to give a major thank you to everyone that has been reading my content lately.
For the first time, I was able to amass over 1,000,000 views in a single month. It’s been an incredible offseason for NCAA Basketball and I’m thankful for everyone who has played a part.
Landing Ryan Nembhard and Graham Ike instantly makes Gonzaga a threat for next season.
I take a look at the Bulldogs' roster building and what's next for them.
Northwestern beats Wisconsin
Michigan beats Ohio State
Nebraska beats Penn State
Literally the perfect Sunday for Pittsburgh when it comes to Bracketology
Easily the highest-attended game for Duquesne since the building opened up and credit certainly goes to Dayton for that. Gonna be an electric environment tonight, tipping off now on ESPN2!
Last June, I didn't expect to attend a single cbb game in person. Fast forward and I got to attend:
18 games at Pitt
11 at RMU
13 at Duquesne
6 NCAAT games in Pittsburgh 1st weekend
3 NCAAT games in Philly for 2nd weekend.
Never know what will happen next so keep grinding!
As if there wasn’t enough between Illinois and Kentucky this off-season, TyTy Washington fueled the fire last night. “I literally don’t know anyone that’s on Illinois, bro. Y’all have Kofi, that’s it. Timeout. Illinois, y’all talking, we was trying to talk y’all best player!”
Maybe like 5 years out of 22 has Gonzaga had a roster built to make a Final Four. And he never won just 9 games in a season.
Calipari hasn't made one since 2015 despite being ranked in the top-5 each year. Let's not accuse other coaches of "underachieving" here.
Duke came on the jumbo screen just now and Chattanooga an Illinois fans held hands together and boo'd them.
Blue Devils don't get any love outside of North Carolina haha.
So the Big Ten Conference couldn’t prepare its teams for Iowa State, an injured Houston, Saint Mary’s, Richmond and Notre Dame?
That’s another underwhelming March for the league. Something is clearly up.
Thinking about 5 teams that are rarely inside many top-20 polls that I think can be Final Four contenders.
Oklahoma State
Mississippi State
Nevada
St. John’s
USC
So excluding the national title, Tony Bennett has been bounced out of the 1st round by 3 mid-majors in last 6 years.
The title saves his from a narrative discussion but UVA and this style of play is very vulnerable in March.
I have cancelled my
@ESPNPlus
subscription until those hacks fire
@finebaum
The way they have covered this whole Michigan situation is disgusting and one sided with zero journalistic integrity.
@hulu
@DisneyPlus
you guys are next.
Here’s a new one. A power ranking of teams most likely to win the A-10 Tournament.
1. VCU
2. Dayton
3. Loyola Chicago
4. Richmond
5. St. Bonaventure
6. Duquesne
7. UMass
8. George Mason
9. St. Joe’s
10. Fordham

12. Davidson
13. GW
14. La Salle

Is it crazy for me to say that if Gonzaga wins this they have the No. 1 seed in the west region locked up?
Would have wins over Arizona, Oregon and Washington along with likely 30 wins in regular season.
Proud of the work everyone did at
@BustingBrackets
together to create this top-25 preseason power rankings.
Find out where teams such as Duke, Memphis, and Kentucky landed.
A reliable source tells me that a key Tennessee player will transfer, but I hesitate to say the name bc I haven't received confirmation from the player.
I don’t want to clog up folks timeline but want to say I’ve seen and heard everyone’s well wishes from the past few days and from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Been hard cause I wasn’t able to say goodbye but I’m slowly healing and trying to get back so a new normal soon.
My mother passed away this evening, thankfully without any more pain. I grew up without a father so I appreciate everything you were able to do for me. I just hate that I only got 31 years with you.
Hopefully, I can use the next 30+ years to show you raised me well. I love you.
An argument can be made that Pitt lost when UNC missed its first 11 shots of the game and the Panthers were only up by 3. Needed to be up double-digits and it cost them.
Not trying to start something, but Gonzaga stole a top-60 recruit from favorite Arizona just by making an offer.
Home-ties certainly matter but we've reached the point where Gonzaga can compete head-to-head with any western targets outside of Los Angeles going forward.
For the first time since 1977, the Duquesne Dukes are going to the NCAA Tournament!! They beat VCU 57-51, led by Dae Dae Grant with 10 points and 8 players with 5+ pts each.
No City Game with Pittsburgh cause Duquesne is going dancing!
Big East 1st team
Collin Gillespie - Nova
Justin Moore - Nova
Jared Rhoden - Seton Hall
Julian Champagnie - St. John's
Nate Watson - Providence
2nd Team
Posh Alexander - St. John's

Hunter Sallis - Wake
Jaxson Robinson - Portal
Eric Dixon - Nova
Coleman Hawkins - Portal
Can Christie - Portal
Payton Sandfort - Iowa

Anyone I’m missing?
Pitt has a big game tonight, with other bubble teams in action. Here's today's rooting guide.
Clemson over Syracuse

Georgia over Ole Miss
OK State over TTU
Oklahoma over Cincy
Kansas over K-St
GT over Wake
DePaul (lol) over St. John's
San Diego St over UNLV
@Bracketologist3
I’d argue that Gonzaga hasn’t won a national title because only 4 of the last 22 teams were good enough and they were just unlikely those years to win it.
If competition mattered that much they they’d get knocked out in the Round of 32 much more often.
Upset alert: DePaul currently leads South Dakota, 44-33 with 15 minutes left.
Would be huge for the Big East if the Blue Demons could beat a D-1 opponent.

Wasn’t too long ago when I was afraid of talking in public out of fear I sounded stupid. Been a real year of growth in that department.
