@RockMSakura
Thank you for your bravery, sis! Sex work is work! Nothing to be ashamed of, and you’re in good company. Plenty of girls have done porn, and half our sisters have an onlyfans now. AND GOOD FOR THEM!
I love San Francisco, but it is facing big problems: housing shortage, public safety, & we have a divisive, unproductive political culture. We need a big tent, progressive vision that unites rather than divides. That’s why I'm so excited to announce I’m running for D6 Supervisor
Like it or not, San Francisco’s downtown is never going to be the same.
I want to create a revitalization plan that fundamentally rethinks the district. One centered around building housing, new jobs, and small businesses.
As Supervisor, here's how I'll get it done.
I reached out to Supervisor
@mattdorsey
to concede a few minutes ago, and congratulate him and his team on a well run campaign.
While things may not have gone our way...
Homelessness is a complex issue, but at the core it’s a problem with the lack of housing and rents being too darn high! We need to build more housing of all kinds: for the missing middle, teacher housing, and more affordable housing, so we can help solve homelessness in SF.
San Francisco’s poverty rate is 10%; Detroit’s is 33%.
San Francisco’s unemployment rate is 3%; Detroit’s is 20%.
Yet, San Francisco’s homelessness rate is a whopping 3 times higher than Detroit’s.
Why?
If you want to understand homelessness, follow the rent:
San Francisco’s Housing Element promises the State of CA that we will build 80,000 units of housing in 8 yrs, but we are currently building only 3,000 units a year… that doesn’t add up, and we are way behind.
This is horrific. I know the queen involved and as someone who has been a part of the drag queen story hour program from the beginning, this is very personal for me. Those poor kids are going to be traumatized by this type of hate. And it is happening more and more often.
Today 8-10 Proud Boys stormed a Drag Queen Story Time at the San Lorenzo Public Library in the liberal Bay Area, filming, shouting slurs & terrifying a bunch of children who had come to hear a story. Sheriff’s deputies had to escort them out.
Reporters: please dm me for more info
JUST IN! I have received the sole endorsement of the San Francisco Democratic Party for District 6 Supervisor! 😍😍😍 thank you
@sfdemocrats
!!!
#superhoney
It is really upsetting to see things hard fought and championed by the community get blown up out of the blue. What happened here? We need more slow streets, not less. We need to prioritize, safety, our children , and our environment. Bring back Slow Lake Street!
I want to bring people together. I believe a majority of YIMBYs are progressive, and majority of Progressives are pro-development. We will present a united path - one that fights for housing at all levels - but recognizes that Supervisors need to fight for more affordable units.
I thought we were done with this already!!! We don’t need to drive down JFK. We can keep it car free. We need more streets to be taken over by people, bikes, and kids. We should also look at where we can do more of this on the East Side of the city.
The ink has barely dried on the Mayor’s signature on the JFK Promenade legislation.
Yet this week, paid signature gatherers are hitting the streets with a ballot measure that would overturn 2 years of public process and a fair decision.
We are ready.
As a lifelong San Franciscan, I’m super proud of our city, but I also know where we need to step up our game. NYC, London, and many more cities across the globe run laps around us when it comes to public transit. We can’t be left behind. I’m committed to leading here
@hknightsf
My latest column: Visiting London and riding its extensive public transit — including the new, fantastic Elizabeth Line — provides a stark contrast to the Bay Area’s limited public transportation systems. And to San Francisco’s yet-to-open Central Subway.
San Francisco needs a climate champion.
Someone who will fight for safe streets, affordable housing, and green jobs. Someone who will make it a priority.
I'm running for District 6 Supervisor because the time is now for an SF Green New Deal.
Here's how we'll get it done. ✊🏾
Ok, I'm absolutely ecstatic about this one.
@Janefonda
is a legendary activist and powerful voice for change with
@janeclimatepac
.
She's supporting my campaign as we have an opportunity to make history together. But don't just take my word for it - hear it from Jane herself!
As queer/trans person who grew up in SF,
@SFPride
has meant so much to me. I’m proud to walk in the footsteps of the revolutionaries and freedom fighters that came before me, and proud to be hosting the Pride main stage on Sunday with my bestie
@SisterRoma
To make real progress on housing, we need to build bridges: bridges between progressives and moderates, labor and YIMBY… I'm proud of the campaign we're building to usher in a new pro housing coalition.
...I've been in public service here in my hometown for decades, and I'm not going anywhere!
I'm looking forward to working with Supervisor Dorsey on things we agree on: building housing, stopping the fentanyl crisis, and saving our city's struggling small businesses.
We can't meet our climate or street safety goals unless we move towards building a car-free city.
Working in the D6 Office, I helped champion the largest expansion of protected bike lanes in SF history.
Honored to have the endorsement of
@sfbike
to continue the work.
A diversity of opinions, tho sometimes difficult to navigate, is a hallmark of our democracy. We are stronger for our diversity when it comes to race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, AND political ideology. All Democrats have the right to organize.
Congratulations Supervisor Dorsey. As your constituent, I sincerely wish you good luck in your efforts to heal District 6 and make it all that it can be.
In solidarity,
Honey
FAST TRAINS are our future.
In countries across the world, they're the present.
We have long since fallen behind.
SF to San Jose should take 20 minutes. Downtown to downtown.
The alternative is congestion & chaos.
Stop slow rolling. Approve it, fund it, build it.
First things first. I want to work to convert our empty office space into new housing.
Let's leverage
@BuffyWicks
AB2011 to accelerate housing in commercial zones. Let's streamline permitting of affordable multifamily homes.
Let’s turn downtown into a true cosmopolitan district
Housing, too high rent, and homelessness are all issues at top of mind for SF residents and issues that are even more top of mind for residents of D6. Issues that are central to my campaign and how we help build a better San Francisco.
There's always a lot of chatter about prog/mod politics in SF and how should YIMBY relate to the divide.
Meanwhile, thanks to a steady drumbeat of pro-housing activism, politicians from all sides are increasingly running on pro-housing messages.
Celebrate this moment.
1,300 units of housing, 350 affordable, union built, near transit, downtown... Why hasn’t this been built yet? 6 month study turned into a 2.5 year delay is why the way we build housing is broken in SF. Thank you
@hknightsf
#buildhousing
#superhoney
I'm going to take a much needed break with friends and family, and then I'm getting right back to work as the Chair of the Democratic Party and getting the best gay bar in San Francisco reopened.
In honor of
@NichelleIsUhura
who passed today at the age of 89 and was an icon - a beacon of light and hope for so many black people. She brought us hope. We love you. Rest in Power.
#nichellenichols
#uhura
With everything thats happening across the country w/the LGBTQ community, especially for trans folks, its never been more important to say - REPRESENTATION MATTERS - especially here in San Francisco. We must be a leader for the nation.
Housing. Safety. Equity. We must lead.
"Mahogany’s background and life experiences — and the policy nuance that comes with them — make her one of the most well-rounded candidates in recent San Francisco political history."
I am absolutely humbled. Thank you
@sfchronicle
for the endorsement.
It's official! The numbers are in, and we've raised the most, not just in our race, but the most of any race in SF! 🥳
This is what a people powered campaign looks like, a campaign built on community and service. Thanks to all my supporters... you made all this possible. 😊
We need more (and safer) safe streets, sidewalks, and bike lanes in D6. D6 is dense with high injury networks, we can’t wait for more accidents and fatalities to happen. We need more traffic calming, more bulb outs and protected lanes.
I was point on 469 Stevenson in
@MattHaneySF
's office. It was shot down by the worst kinda political NIMBYism and we lost hundreds of units of family housing.
Enough is enough. No more 469 Stevensons.
Let's build the damn housing.
Real talk: We have a public safety crisis.
You can’t be Chief of Staff in the D6 office as I have and not know there is a crisis on our streets. A crisis with fentanyl. A crisis with policing.
I will lead with practical progressive solutions to solve these crises. Here’s how.
Frankly even if we upzone more parts of SF, it's still impossible to build. The average time for a project approval is 2 years with median time for an apartment over 10 units at 6 years. This actually violates our Permit Streamlining Act meant to help build housing more quickly.
Thank you to all who donated, knocked on doors, and made calls to the people of the new District 6.
We ran a historic campaign, and I hope I encouraged others, especially queer black and trans people, to take the plunge and get involved in politics. We need your voices!
As Supervisor, I will champion this because unless we streamline permitting, upzone neighborhoods, and enable by-right development, we will not meet our goals. Prices & rents will keep going up and for those lucky enough to be stable here, our kids will never be able to stay.
San Francisco is my hometown, and I don't believe the narrative that we have permanently lurched to the right - we're still a progressive Democratic stronghold - but the voters of San Francisco made it very clear what they are looking for.
Why are we so behind? One reason is exclusionary zoning in SF… but in talking to both Labor and Yimby, an issue that doesn't get enough attention is permitting.
It’s true, after 5 years of hosting the mainstage at SF Pride, this will be me and
@SisterRoma
‘s last year hosting on Sunday. We loved doing it every single year, and now it’s time to make space for folks and give others the opportunity. We love you San Francisco and
@SFPride
🥰
Y'all....
@SisterRoma
and
@honeymahogany
just announced on Midday Live this is the LAST year they are hosting the Civic Center Pride festivities.
Show up and show out for these ladies who have given us life for five years!
11 a.m. Sunday.
Our permitting system is clearly broken:
impact fees, lengthy approvals, corruption, mismanagement… people can pay to get their permits expedited which in and of itself is problematic - the racial and socioeconomic divide in our city only grows.
The fact that it’s this much harder to open a small business in San Francisoc vs NYC is so crazy… as a small business owner this hurts me personally, and it’s part of the reason why we are struggling to fill our vacant storefronts in the city. How do we fix this
@Sharkyl
?
Unfortunately, we have passed the crisis point and soon we will lose the ability to get much needed state funding for affordable housing and potentially lose local control of how we build in SF. We are out of time
#BuildHousing
HCD will conduct a first-ever Housing Policy and Practice Review of San Francisco, aimed at identifying and removing barriers to approval and construction of new housing there.
What this means in the 🧵 👇🏾 1/
@SisterRoma
@LondonBreed
@MattHaneySF
Thx, Roma! Qualifications - 20 years as a social worker and mental health director, 5 years as a small business owner, 5 years on the board of the Democratic Party, with over a year as chair, 3+ years working in the D6 office on all of these issues, and a lifetime living in SF.
We have to support our small businesses.
It is still too hard to start, grow, & maintain a business in our city. I mean, it costs over $100K to open an ice cream shop!
I will cut fees, streamline permits, and ensure safe streets to bring our small businesses back.
I’m committed to unity because of my experiences growing up here in SF. I'm from a family of Ethiopian refugees. Fleeing dictatorship, they found a home here in San Francisco. I was born at UCSF. Raised in the Outer Sunset. Studied at St. Ignatius.
THANK YOU!!!! We had a stellar kickoff with over 500 people coming through. Loved seeing the diversity, the enthusiasm, and the spirit! And sorry we couldn’t fit y’all into this pic! NOW, let’s get to work!!!
#superhoney
Politics is a pendulum that is always swinging. It's our job to make sure that we are putting people over rhetoric - and our own pride - and making sure that the pendulum doesn't swing too hard and cause more harm than good.
Sadly, with how obstructionist we have been to building housing, we can never meet these goals, and that puts us at risk for losing out on funding from the state at a time when we need more, not less investment.
How to recover downtown in 3 steps:
1. Invest in new industries like climate tech and biotech.
2. Streamline housing permitting.
3. Support our small businesses.
It works in other cities. It can work in San Francisco too.
This is a tragedy made worse by knowing this was preventable. I am so sorry to the families of the those who were killed. Grateful for the work of
@SFFFLocal798
@SFPDSouthern
and all our first responders for helping the victims.
On the scene at 3rd & Mission where 2 pedestrians were struck and killed by a taxi shortly after 4:30 p.m.
A third pedestrian was taken to hospital and is stable condition. The driver of the taxi was also taken to hospital and in stable condition.

understands the complicated push-pull for LGBTQ+ people intimately. Now, Mahogany is now the first black trans woman elected to San Francisco’s Democratic County Central Committee
Access to public transit and safe streets is so essential. Our equity, climate, and safety goals are literally on the line.
Vote Yes on J & L, No on I!
My latest column: Polling shows bad news for ballot measures to give crucial funding to Muni and preserve car-free JFK Drive in Golden Gate Park. Here’s why it’s important for San Francisco’s future that voters Tuesday support both Prop. L and Prop. J.
Last night I introduced a resolution at the
@SFDemocrats
calling on
@HHSGov
to declare a state of emergency so we can effectively handle
#monkeypox
- today San Francisco has declared this an emergency. We must educate, vaccinate, and contain this ASAP.
“Too often in San Francisco politics, we end up simply taking sides where we think something is progressive or it’s not, and we made a decision based on that,” Mahogany told The Standard. “We have to do a better job looking at the facts.”
To truly transform our approach to housing, we need new approaches AND experience.
I've been doing the work of getting affordable housing and social housing for low-income families built for years.
As an American and a San Franciscan, I’m disgusted to see our country torn apart and manipulated by the same tired tropes that have plagued and weekend our democracy for generations: racial hatred, scapegoating, homo/transphobia, xenophobia… we must unequivocally condemn this.
Hate stems from the same root & the folks inciting violence against Jews, LGBTQ people & others are joined at the hip.
Here we see joint homophobic-antisemitic protests, eg, Nazis joining with homophobes & Proud Boys joining the homophobic-transphobic “Gays Against Groomers.”
Thank you to everyone who woke up early to help get me elected! I’m constantly impressed by the diversity people who show up in support of this campaign. A testament to the communities we are fighting for and the work we must continue to do!
#SuperHoney
We are in a homelessness crisis, a statewide housing crisis, an affordability crisis - and the BOS continues to block housing from being built. San Francisco deserves better. This is why it’s important to pass statewide legislation that will limit discretionary review
Millions of people across the state would benefit if we pass this law. That’s an additional $6k or so per year for working families! Hoping
@CASOSVote
will ensure that this is on the 2022 ballot. With rising COL, working people can’t wait!
@JosephNSanberg
@ada_briceno
Backers say they collected over a million signatures to boost CA's minimum wage to $18 from $15.
They're suing CA's Secretary of State because the ballot measure was qualified for 2024 instead of 2022.

Here is the video of what was happening at

yesterday. Shout out to Jenn Stokes and the security team for being quick to get

Now more than ever, our youth are looking for results. Results on housing, climate change, and gun safety.
Honored to have the endorsement of
@SFYD
as we work to deliver on those issues, and, inspire the next generation of leaders in San Francisco.
That is why I supported the chartering of
@WestsideDemsSF
and will continue to support their chartering. We are luck to have so many people feel so passionately about our city and engaged in politics - I hope that we will continue to grow the
@SFDemocrats
in the future
We need to rethink our approach to industry.
I will work to bring in new industries that have on-site workers and be an advocate for climate tech and biotech. I will bring in jobs that will keep SF a hub of innovation & bring in patronage to support our small businesses.
I feel sick to my stomach thinking about what happened today.
We knew it was coming… but it still hurts.
And the foreshadowing of more to come in “Justice” Thomas’s opinion just confirms our worst fears. This is a fight for the soul of our nation. We gotta fight.
#RoeVWade
The political toxicity that we’re experiencing today just keeps growing. We need more things like drag queen story hour that bring people together, share joy, and make people feel safe. Thank you
@radarlit

@DQSHtweets
for your work and for being there for our kids & families
RED ALERT! 🚨 Proud to have the endorsement of San Francisco Fire Fighters!!

I know this, working as Chief of Staff to
@MattHaneySF
fighting the fight.
I helped to increase $1M in funding to the Dept of Environment. I fought to restore our 27-Bryant and 31-Balboa bus lines, and championed the largest expansion of protected bike lanes.
As we enter the final week before election day, I am so proud of what this campaign has accomplished.
In just 5 months, we’ve reached over 23,000 voters. Every voter I talk to agrees that San Francisco needs a new vision. And they need it now. (1/5)
I know how to get this done.
I am a small business owner
@StudSF1
& worked with businesses across the district with
@MattHaneySF
.
I've done the work for over a decade. And I'll continue to do the work to revitalize our downtown as Supervisor.
I believe
#socialhousing
is going to be a key component to combatting the affordability crisis. I will be a housing champion & a social housing champion on the Board of Supervisors. This is something we desperately need in San Francisco.
What happens when you make it explicit policy goal that your residents can afford a home?
~$1100 a month, 4 bedroom flat for a young family of three
this wasn't even the largest
#socialhousing
unit in this 5 story building
