Malachi Nelson is a extremely talented QB but does need more coaching. If he is serious about joining a blue collar program. It could be a great fit for BSU.
I am surprised BSU isn't pursuing a more experienced QB but you can't deny Malachi Nelson talent.
I may be dreaming a little bit but, what should the PAC 12 do:
1. Immediately add Gonzaga for olympic sports
2. Get a FB & BB scheduling agreement with the Big12. (Yes, I am dreaming big for that)
3. Get a TV deal done asap
4. Go get Memphis
@ClayTravis
I dont believe Trump can win the general election and is getting too old.
Personally when DeSantis joins the race my vote most likely will go to him. If its between Trump and Haley. I pick Haley
Washington QB Dylan Morris has entered the transfer portal,
@chris_hummer
and I have learned for
@247sports
.
Morris, a Class of 2019 top-200 recruit, threw for 2,458 yards and 14 TDs in 2021.
According to this article Boise State is the 62 most valuable college football program. It considered market size, attendance, social media following, & valuation.
Do you know who didn't make the list? SDSU & Fresno State.
Several yrs ago when the BSU HC job opened up. Avalos was my top choice. Sadly it didn't work out at BSU. He will always BLEED BLUE!!!!!
Good luck to him
Houston announces that athletic director Chris Pezman is out.
Big change. Pezman helped Houston move to the Big 12, hire Willie Fritz, and the basketball program has been one of the best in the country.
@Andy_Staples
What is amazing is they did it targeting small market teams.
They didn't care about TV $ because they weren't going to get it anyways. They focused on football & tradition
I don't like the argument that BSU is a young team so Avalos gets a pass and he shouldn't be fired possibly.
It's year 3 and CFB is in the transfer portal era. There is a big enough sample size.
I have doubts but he is a passionate individual & leader
Since he hasnt coached at many different schools. I hope BSU gives him a large salary pool to work with to attract a solid coaching staff
Also it's time for the boosters/NIL to step up.
Top 5 players to watch for in Boise State Spring Ball:
1. QB Malachi Nelson
2. WR Latrell Caples
3. CB Jeremiah Earby
4. OL Rick Moore
5. RB Sire Gaines
Best win of the season!!!!
QB Madsen is your QB, deal with it
Great timing for Holani to return with Jeanty injured. Hope that Jeanty is ok.
Defense was great!!!
Oregon State in SEC is actually quite intriguing. If SEC expanded to 20+ teams they should be given strong consideration. They would give SEC an interesting matchup every week and would be elevated very much like A&M in SEC was. Would recruit much closer to Oregon if happened. 🔥
I didnt realize until reading a NFL scouting report that BSU OL John Ojukwu. Had zero sacks allowed, zero false starts, and zero holding penalties in 2022. That is pretty good.
@AllDucksAllDay1
@PeteThamel
This was in regards to the AAC trying to get them, not the Big 12.
This is actually good news because that means they are confident a potential Big 12 invite is coming.
I am glad that Koetter is taking the OC duties at BSU.
But
Dont expect miracles, the offense has a lot of issues. I am hoping he can at least make it a average offense
Total 2023 Athletic Expenses according to the Knight Commission for PAC 12 schools:
BSU- $58,257,005
FSU- $51,738,485
CSU- $64,463,788
OSU- $98,423,805
SDSU- $96,611,742
WSU- $90,909,237
What I don't like about BSU HC Spencer Danielson misinterpreted NIL statement for true freshman. Is that the perception will be that Danielson doesn't invest in recruiting.
That is far from the truth. He is probably the most aggressive HC recruiter BSU has ever had.
I feel very mix about BSU
They played a hard fought game against UCF a Big 12 team. Just didn't have enough in the end.
But
The only strength I see for BSU is RB Jeanty. This is now the 6th loss on Blue for Avalos. Something needs to change but I don't know what.
IMO BSU hiring Hamdan as OC is a better hire than Dinwiddie or Sanford.
Hamdan is known to be a really good recruiter too and even got a 4 star QB from Washington to commit to Missouri.
"Other schools I respect that we heard from include Memphis—they were very interested. Boise State raised their hand. Some others in the West wanted in. And just because we didn’t take them now, that doesn’t mean we are no longer considering growth."
If you ask who will be the offense beakout player for BSU in 2024. I bet a lot of fans will say WR Marshall, WR Camper, or QB Nelson.
I think the real answer will be TE Matt Lauter. I got a feeling that OC Koetter is going to use the TEs a lot this season
One of my biggest takeaways from spring ball over at
#BoiseState
?
Tight end Matt Lauter has been really REALLY good. Dude was pretty much unstoppable today.
"He's one of the most gifted tight ends you'll probably see in the Mountain West, but also college football."
The PAC 12 needs to:
- Bring in UNLV & Gonzaga
- Find a P4 conference to make a football scheduling agreement with
- Only bring in UCONN as a football only if they agree to a basketball scheduling agreement
Given all this it looks like
@pac12
will stop at 8. Will be a struggle to schedule 5 meaningful non-cons. But as
@rltsports
said, try to schedule as many P4s as possible. What have you got to lose?
Let's Go Maddog!!!!
Why I think he could be successful:
1. He got valuable experience in 2023 and not splitting reps
2. Koetter as OC
3. If they can stay healthy the WR group should be substantially upgraded. The return of Caples is huge
Assuming the version of the PAC 12 as we know it dies. The MWC should merge with the remaining teams (OSU & WSU. Then go get SMU or another school like Memphis or UTSA.
There is a lot of negativity about BSU football right now.
The one extremely positive aspect though is RB Ashton Jeanty is a beast. He is having a amazing season. Heisman worthy if the team was better.
"Not only was Jeanty (the former wide receiver) the top player at his position in 2023, but he also recorded the fifth-highest single-season WAA score in PFF College history (0.55)"
BSU hasn't even played a snap this season yet.
I think it may take a while for BSU fans to heal from the scars of the Avalos era. So much stress and angst
NEWS: 2024 four-star SG Liam Campbell has requested a release from his National Letter of Intent to USC and will reopen his recruitment, he tells
@On3Recruits
.
Story:
Not gonna lie. Feels a bit weird to see Boise State search committee flying out to interview candidates just hours after Spencer Danielson is hoisted up by his team following huge win against Air Force.
Great article
Coaches listed:
- Bryan Harsin former BSU HC
- Ryan Grubb UW OC
- Kellen Moore NFL OC
- Kirby Moore Mizzo OC
- Jeff Choate Texas Co DC
- Brent Vigen MSU HC
- Ryan Dinwiddie CFL HC
- Gerald Alexander Steelers assistant
- Sean Lewis CU OC
- Jason Eck Idaho HC
Boise State potential coaching candidates and the job profile.
This is a program that has been winning *forever* and has a lot of fan support.
Bryan Harsin Part 2? Kellen Moore? Kirby Moore?
My dive in:
Toledo star QB Dequan Finn, the MAC Player of the Year, is expected to enter the transfer portal, sources tell
@247sports
.
Finn has accounted for 88 total touchdowns the last three years.
Boise State HC Andy Avalos says he’d like to play more games in Texas because of how often the Broncos recruit the state and how many players on the roster are from Texas. Avalos also said Jeramiah Dickey wants to schedule more games in Texas.
Barry’s Big adventure!!! UNLV coach Barry Odom riding a bull to raise money for his FB program. Who does that? BARRY DOES

Sometimes I got to laugh. Also from the Athletic:
"Boise State moves the TV needle more than anyone left in the Group of 5.... TV value, more than anything else, drives realignment now, and Boise State still has some."
