My painting of the Tessellated Pavement in Tasmania, Australia. It looks manmade but was formed 300 million years ago when the siltstone was fractured and then eroded by the ocean into these 'tiles'. It's extremely rare, found only in a few places on earth. I find it mesmerising!

The bright colours of these two houses are what drew me to capture how they change under the dappled light. I walk past them daily to Parque México in Mexico City. While painting, I realised that the colours reflect two very common foods here in Mexico - mango and lime! 🧡💚

My oil painting of the view from Kruje Castle in Albania. We drove to the historically important town of Krujë in the mountains near Tirana. Explored the castle and museum, ate a huge traditional meal, and drank espresso and raki while overlooking this breathtaking view.

My second try at plein air painting 😊 I accidentally set up next to a homeless person. He slept most of the time so ended up being ok company. It was very cold but the mosquitoes stayed away today! A success - with lots of lessons - I think!

Last week I shared some work in progress photos of this little painting of the view of the church from my window at dusk. Just wanted to share the finished pic! Although I wasn't sure about the foreground leaves, I decided to leave them suggestive to keep the focus on the church.

It's finished 🥰 And so, so difficult to photograph. Just can't do it justice - the camera doesn't capture how the light hits all the layers of paint to make it sparkle. Frustrating!!

This is the wonderful garden in Frida Kahlo's blue house, Casa Azul. I embarked on a painter's pilgrimage to visit her museum in Mexico City. I loved capturing the contre-jour shadows and how the sunlight illuminates the lush leaves.

Frida Kahlo's house in Mexico City is named "Casa Azul". I embarked on a painter's pilgrimage to visit her museum, which was fascinating and inspiring. I found this tree's sculptural shape and its eccentric shadow striking against the blue walls of her garden.

This bright orange house in Mexico City always has interesting shadows cast across it. How lucky was I that my blue-hatted model photobombed! Those contrasting colours, with the searing sunshine, made for a wonderfully intriguing, yet simple, subject. I wonder where he's off to?

My last painting in Australia is of a beautiful summer morning in the Victorian Alps. I spied this tree on a walk in the mountains in January. Even though it was summertime it was eerily cold and misty! The details of the trees melting into the mist is captivating and peaceful.
