arryk was so right when he asked “why has helaena the queen been granted no sworn protector?” because yeah… why doesn’t helaena have a sworn protector?
antagonistic? rhaenyra promised jeyne a dragon to protect the eyrie should it be attacked. instead she got a hoard of children, hatchlings and dragon eggs. jeyne is lady of the eyrie and defender of the vale, she has every right to challenge rhaena
Is there a reason for Jeyne to be so antagonistic to Rhaena? We just met this character. What is the set up here? Jeyne "In this world of men, we women must band together" Arryn....

no fr… i think the only thing that makes sense is if it’s in the context of cole just not being a competent lord commander? that’s where his guilt comes from, he’s alicent’s sworn protector so he was supposed to be w her when b&c happened, but helaena had no one assigned to her
she can barely stand under the weight of her belly. her wide innocent eyes. her tiny features. her hair bound so she is seen as a woman and not a child. the finery of her and gown and jewels as a shroud. but it cannot disguise the horror of that pregnant belly on a child.
olivia saying because they are so similair in age alicent almost sees her children as siblings is so disturbing and visceral. she was a child having children. she was a child raising children. they look her age. and already she is a grandmother thrice over. it’s all just so awful
alicent only became a problem for viserys when she started doing what rhaenyra does. advocating for herself, her family and her children. when she was a child bride being exploited and abused for the benefit of others she was perfect just like aemma who died abused and exploited
this is so funny because how to you explain to your misogynistic council that yes i did sneak into king’s landing dressed as a septa to visit alicent in her most sacred place and sue for peace can we move on to more pressing things
alicent not knowing how to comfort her son, her first child, her blood. she loves the bones of him because that’s what mother’s do, even if that love is soft and dark like fruit gone bad. yet he will always be a servant of her unhappiness
also i feel like hotd writers don’t know how to make alicent sympathetic without taking all of her agency away. let her be ruthless. let her be ambitious. let her crown her son because she thinks it’s right. because she hates the man who raped her and forced that very son on her
i’m so mad at them framing aegon as worse than his rapist father. when he’s so complex. his arc should’ve been framed as the silly drunken whoring man gradually descending into cruelty and madness and ruthlessness because of his grief and pain and trauma and his role as king ☹️
the humiliation and humbling that the writers are so intent on forcing on alicent is weird. dismissed at every turn even by her children, ridiculed for her sexual freedom, completely losing her agency from the age of fifteen. what is she repenting for? doing her duty?
it’s so funny that everyone was like ah yes an orgasm could change closeted lesbian alicent’s life and liv was like no it actually makes her feel insane
aemond trying to comfort his mother because she wasn’t ok and she had no one else to hold her. alicent only has her children. and her children realised they only have her.
