Professional advice for junior faculty: do NOT wear leopard print pants to the grocery store— there is a 100% chance you will run into a student. Ask me how I know 😅
So I found this children’s book at my parents’ house (which they would read to me) about a dog who was an economics professor before being fired for acting like a dog. I think this may have inadvertently had a huge influence on my life 😂
Two completely unrelated facts: 1. They make doctoral regalia for cats 2. I have disposable income now (I’m lowkey mad she looks better in the tam than I ever will)
Officially adding “ESTIMATE Hat Designer” to my CV!! 🌸 Thanks so much for sending some my way
@jmwooldridge
! (and let me know if you need my design skills again for the Summer 23 limited edition hat 😂)
Three terrific former MSU PhD students,
@KathrynBollman
,
@naraepark_econ
, and
@hannahgabes
, visiting San Francisco. “Anything special we should do while there?” they asked. “Visit my mother,” I said, mostly in jest. But then this really happened.

I wore my beta hat on a walk and now I’m wondering if there will ever be pink beta hats??
@jmwooldridge
I know there are white, green, and blue so pink should definitely be next in the series (I know
@K_A_Eriksson
would agree)
I'm going to tweet this exact thing in 2026 when North America hosts the World Cup and all the tourists complain about the lack of effective public transit
Last spring I decided to embrace California living by starting a tiny citrus grove. After the crazy wet October, they’re thriving!! (But note the 20ft. Eureka lemon tree in the background making them look wimpy)
