A thread…. My job, well the one that pays the bills anyway, is a Town Planner. The one thing that infuriates me (there’s actually quiet a lot) is when football clubs leave their historic grounds and have no regard whether the former use is built into the redeveloped site.

📚10 The Miracle of Castel di Sangro by Joe McGinniss - Sadly the author has passed away since this book was first published. In it he narrates the 'fairytale' of the extraordinary rise of a village team to the top of Italian football. A classic that's stood the test of time.

Safe travel to the @f95 fans going to @IpswichTown next week. A great example of a fan friendship between two clubs. Trips to Portman Road started in 2006 and this will be the first visit since 2020 due to Covid. The Tractor Boys have reciprocated along the way with trips to 🇩🇪

If @btsport were serious about promoting German football they should have picked somebody more knowledgeable than Steve McMannaman as a co-comentator. He literally knows nothing and suggesting BVB would enjoy bragging rights in the city is just laugheable.

Despite my major misgivings for a ‘reserve team’ to be in a national league (or a regional league for that matter!) Die Rote Erde is well worth a visit. It’s a perfect time capsule of what football was and what it is now.

Sad to hear of the recent passing of Noel Campbell who was the first Irishman to play in the Bundesliga with @fortuna_koeln . Noel played for the club between 1971-78 and will be sadly missed by all. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Ruhe in Frieden.

Book 1 Nobody should be without this book. Tor! - The story of German Football by Uli-Hesse Lichtenberger. It gives people a great insight into 🇩🇪 football from the founding days to the early Millennium. Written in English with an English speaking audience in mind.
