The next day, the sun gives the traveling pack time to rest. By noon, the thin layer of snow has melted completely, and most wolves gather in the clear, sitting on the tree trunks to bare their faces to the sun. The pups run around, playing and having fun like most adults can't.

But instead of grabbing the cape, Yoongi’s fingers gently curl over Jimin’s hand covered by the alpha’s mitten. Jimin looks at their hands and then his gaze travels up to Yoongi’s eyes. Jimin loses his voice for a moment. “Do-do you know what you are doing?”

“I’m fine,” Yoongi speaks again without having Jimin say anything. “The cut wasn’t deep.” “It hurts,” Jimin laments. Yoongi looks up at him, breathing through his mouth. “I’m fine, Jimin.” At the mention of his name, Jimin looks away for a moment, feeling exposed.

“What are you doing here?” Asks Yoongi, his voice deep and beating between their distance. Jimin takes a deep breath. “I—” He takes off his hood. “I was looking for you.” Yoongi keeps quiet. “You didn’t come back,” Jimin speaks again.

Once alone, Jimin’s fingers twitch as he makes a hold on the pebble and takes it with his hand. Now it is his. Yoongi watches him while Jimin’s eyes drift down to their hands and the pebbles. Jimin’s breathing is deep and slow but he feels his heart thrumming inside his chest.

One of the pups come walking inside the water towards Jimin. “Look what I found Jiminie,” he says and extends his palm to show Jimin a few colorful pebbles. “They are so pretty!” Jimin exclaims, smiling at the pup. “Can I give you one?”

But before Jimin can move a finger, Yoongi's hand appears in his field of view again. He can feel the alpha breathing calmly as he picks another pebble, one that is white with pinky undertones. It's pretty and delicate.

Before Jimin can walk past Yoongi, he stops in front of the alpha and, with trembling fingers, he unties his cape. Yoongi’s eyes widen when Jimin offers the old piece of fabric. “Do you know what you are doing?” Asks Yoongi. “You need it more than me.”

Jimin stares back at the water in front of him, feeling his cheeks burn and thankful that he can blame the sun for the pink spreading on them. He steals a glance at Taehyung and Jeongguk looking very friendly on the other side of the pond.

Jeongguk immediately stands up and says he'll take care of everyone. Jimin goes to the community tent to grab soap from his pouch and is good to go. As they are leaving, he spots Yoongi attending one of the pregnant omegas and lowers his head for the entire walk.

The pond isn’t far away from camp, and it’s a good sign they are reaching the south area soon. It will probably be a few more days of traveling and then the pack will be ready to build new homes. Jimin needs to grow stronger so he will be able to help as well.

“I was requested to return tomorrow,” Yoongi announces and he doesn’t move when Jimin takes a step forward. “You are injured.” Yoongi looks at Jimin’s features, and the omega notices an unsettling feeling painting the alpha’s face.

Even under the sun, Jimin is able to feel Yoongi's warmth reaching him and he freezes when Yoongi extends a hand to pick up a pebble from the pup's hand. "Now it's Jimin's turn!" The pup says and Jimin blinks, trying to defrost his body as if he were buried in a pile of snow.

“I wanted to,” Jimin gulps, a shiver traveling down his spine. “Express my grattitude for saving us today.” Yoongi nods. “You should go back.” Jimin lingers in his spot for a moment before he starts stepping forward. Yoongi tenses and his jaw clenches when his wound must hurt.

Yoongi sits on a rock near Jimin. He doesn’t take off his boots nor folds the arms of his thick sweater. He sits there and midnlessly stares at the pond and the pups still playing inside. The omegas whisper and giggle.

He feels too warm, but now it’s because of the alpha’s proximity and his heavy gaze full of silent words. Jimin doesn’t even notice the light whisper traveling around the pond as blood rushes to his cheeks and ears. When he looks up at Yoongi, his scent is empowering.

When Jimin is able to smell Yoongi’s scent closeby, suddenly he’s concious about his appearence. He tries to sit straighter and his fingers curl above his knees. He’s concious about his still wet hair and the bruises on his skin.
