@TheChefsGardens
I can’t deal with this Administration much longer. Last night at an event every single person there - every single person - said they will never vote for him again after what he’s done. These are reasonable, middle of the road folks… average age of the group: 65
@CBSLA
The federal government, which exists to aid and support the states, is refusing to help states, gives no reason for it; and is doing so over an issue that largely occurred on federal land.
Two refrigerated trucks, and now a surge tent, in Camarillo.
Camarillo has a significantly older population for the county (averages), we need to work together to protect each other from these numerous respiratory and other virus surges the community is experiencing.
No need
Alright guys...tomorrow Ventura County should be able to move to CODE RED on the COVID scale. This means more opening up.
I’m just going to be the one to ask it: can we agree to not rip off our masks and mouth breathe in closed spaces so we can continue to improve? Kthanks.
@BeccaWhitnall
Is there any explanation on why they got a restraining order that no one planned on enforcing? It’s just that you can find him in contempt, or put him in jail, but now thousands of people are potentially spreading COVID in our communities. The services should have been shut down.
@KyleBJorrey
@MotherJones
@allisonmontroy
I had to leave one Moms group, and mute the two in the article, because it was too stressful. Many I have talked to in my district are deeply in this group, including through some churches.
I do want to say Katy Strange from MOC has done a fabulous job trying to mitigate it.
@Michael59503746
I don’t know if you’re in California or not, but the situation with mental health and drug use, as well as food insecurity, is getting so severe. 90% of these folks qualified for services and just didn’t get them, the state is focusing on bandaids and frankly making the problem
Someone emailed me from Leisure Village this morning. She said she may not agree with everything that I believe, but she also is voting for me because she sees that I will “stand up, speak up, not go silent and more than anything not be bullied.”
This. This is why I am running.
Unpopular opinion: your children will only think they are losing out on “so much” right now if you continue on with the victim mentality as a parent. Adapt. Adjust. Become resilient and model grit. Your kids will enjoy Halloween no matter what they do.
Last year at the Christmas parade, some people had pride flags, and the uproar was another sad peg in Camarillo’s history.
This
#NationalComingOutDay
, I vow to work to end this backwards thinking.
You are loved. You are welcome. This is your city as much as anyone else’s.
The real hate that comes in response to my campaign hosting a healing and unifying event is EXACTLY why it’s needed. Peaceful vigil. Wednesday night. In support of our community, Camarillo’s Black population, and our police. Healing Camarillo. Event link in bio.
@Leung__Wendy
OR... you could just embrace environmental sustainability and create jobs by taking on big infrastructure conversion projects and utilizing state and federal grants to fund them...
@KyleBJorrey
This actually makes me feel physically ill. There is no un-Christlike action than the flagrant disregard for the lives and safety of our neighbors and most vulnerable. Our community has a lot of soul searching to do.
My husband walked 33,000 steps for the campaign yesterday. Today will be equal, last day of literature drops.
Me: “Well that’s great, you burned a lot of calories.”
Him: “Yeah, feels great!” [while putting an entire can of whipped cream on his pancakes]
Ojai Valley Times is reporting on Instagram that evacuation orders currently listed at VCEMERGENCY are for 5 pm today, but that the shelter does not open until 9 am tomorrow.
Can we get some clarification on this
@CountyVentura
? Where should folks go for those 16 hours?
Question I have? What is the council's plan to prevent this from ever happening again. Claiming ignorance, and that they aren't really actually the ones in charge is not excusable in my opinion.
JUST IN: Nathaniel Hunnicutt, former Camarillo Fiesta Association president, has been sentenced to 90 days in custody and 36 months formal probation.
Hunnicutt paid full restitution in the amount of $20,732.
Our last story for those who missed it:
A man suggested people post photos of my home and address so that people can retaliate violently on me and my family over something I had absolutely nothing to do with. 20 minutes later I got a text that I would see a brick through my window tonight. Here was
@Facebook
response:
I have a conference call with my opponent in 30 minutes, about the ground rules for our candidate event tomorrow night, because the senior folks are concerned after the Presidential debate last night. Bless their hearts; I love the over 55 crowd.
Someone just posted in a local Mom’s group I’m in: “In a neighborhood full of Trembleys, be a Schmidt” with a picture of her yard sign, and here I am crying again.
@MarkALunn
@KyleBJorrey
Mark, respectfully, that was a public Tweet As you know, I'm a candidate for city council. On my PERSONAL and PRIVATED Facebook page, I even get flack for things I post. I understand your opinions and respect your right to them. But this was very concerning as a resident of VC.
@KyleBJorrey
@BeccaWhitnall
This is going to be WILD up on Moms of Camarillo.
Meanwhile, I have several interns in high school working on my campaign that don't understand why parents are so up in arms about having to take a serious illness... seriously...
Our lease renewal came in this morning, our rent was raised by 9% …so excuse me, I now have to campaign even harder than I already am because this unmitigated violence against the working class is not going to be fixed by anyone else in this race
@KyleBJorrey

Robocalls and mailers are dead. Robocalls get marked as Possible Spam by iPhones, and mailers go straight in the garbage. *womp womp*
Welp... candidate’s forum is over and I hope I did well. To my opponent, who thinks it’s appropriate to put words in my mouth, and knock me for being considerably younger than him over and over and over again: I guess the gloves are off.
I'm getting anecdotal word from folks out near Santa Paula that Telegraph from Ventura to Santa Paula is flooded with debris everywhere.
Not sure if anyone can confirm, but this is a reminder we all need to just go to bed and stay off the roads!
Door to door campaigning is now allowed. I WILL NOT be doing this. I'm leaving door hangers, NOT knocking. I care about our county getting back to life. Just know that a candidate who knocks in the middle of a pandemic does not care about public health and science, or you.
We haven’t seen or talked to my kids’ tennis coach in months because of COVID. Sweet older man, hit with them several days a week with frogurt afterwards, every time.
He just texted me a photo of him and his wife voting for me 😭
I found another 500 door hangers in my car, so add that to the 1,500 left and I've got 2,000 more pieces going out with a big, fat sticker on them showing my newest endorsements. Let's win this thang!
I am beyond honored to have received the endorsement of Congresswoman Julia Brownley.
A champion for Ventura County, I hope my campaign will make Camarillo’s Congressional Representative proud on Election Day.
I would offer you guys the leftovers from our contactless, curbside pick up donut and coffee campaign event today, but it appears my 3 year old has snuck out of bed, into the kitchen, and licked the frosting and sprinkles off of all of them. 😳
I need everyone to understand that there is more to being on the city council, and especially more to being mayor, than just cramming in as much crappy and overpriced development as you can.
The line charts are identical to what we are seeing in Ventura County. People are looking to illegal routes to get medications for legitimate needs due to prescribers wanting to apply blanket policies to a complicated issue. This is so incredibly sad
My campaign is hosting a PEACEFUL vigil on Wednesday ahead of the forum on policing. We can support the Black community AND the police. It’s time to heal Camarillo. Details 👇🏻
(I can’t believe I’m having to say this.)
We do not need to be developing senior housing that requires a home loan pre-approval around $1 million just to get a tour.
I’ll say it again. And again and again. And again and again and again.
Being on the city council is about way more than cramming in as much development as you can, and siphoning off taxpayer money for your business friends.
ALERT: my husband stopped accruing PTO (we never go anywhere). So he is being forced to take a week off work.
TRANSLATION: FREE CAMPAIGN WORKER FOR A WEEK. What can I have him do? So far I'm printing precincts for door hangers, a booth at the park... what else?
@shivaaanip
My son’s preschool teacher is doing Zoom and two days in person. At the in person she caught COVID and was on oxygen in the hospital last week. When I see photos like this, I see people that don’t understand the profound complexity and fear with restarting in person education.
@BeccaWhitnall
I’m interested to hear why, if they ever make a statement on it.
I sent them a Facebook message, but they have not responded. It’s just unfortunate. We all want to feel safe going out; but hard to when this kind of stuff is being allowed to happen.
Thanks for your updates!
@KyleBJorrey
@CountyVentura
Every single person that doesn’t wear a mask, that throws a party, that doesn’t social distance... should have to pay for the business losses that come if we move back to purple. I’m also referring to elected officials who are flippant with their obligation to set an example.
We are finalizing the last phase of my campaign here, and I have to say the creativity that is coming out of alternative ways of campaigning really is a silver lining to this whole pandemic.
@SpeakerPelosi
Nancy, I understand where you are coming from with everything you are saying. But telling the American people that you'll get a deal eventually, and that they'll be given money retroactively, was callous. You can't feed children retroactively. You must find a way.
@ABC7
First of all I don’t think anyone has stayed home for a long time at this point, second of all this is political and not a reflection of the science. If you’re around vulnerable people you can still kill them going in sick - with almost anything. Sick pay now!
We are now only $50 from our final goal before the primary. The easiest donation platform we have for use is pasted in below.
I am eternally grateful for the support we have received. Please consider a donation today.
I need you guys to know that every time I get extra donations I wasn’t originally budgeting for, I hand write letters to targeted constituents (seniors). I’m now at 1,689 handwritten letters.
In other news: my right hand is permanently stuck in the shape of holding a pen.
Today I’m thinking about the homeless folks that spend their days outside the McDonald’s by my house. One cannot afford a wheelchair, we’ve been trying to get one to him. He uses a cart. Many are there because they got down on their luck, often due to medical bills.
While I am
Someone I spoke to today is working two jobs, wife is working two jobs, kids never see them. A huge issue we're facing is kids are acting up more in school, chronic absenteeism is rising, and it's all - I believe - a complicated issue, complicated by Mom and Dad never being able
It has become evident to me that this city council election is between the people who want more present and active leadership on the city council, and people who want someone who will stay quiet while their friends railroad our city with bad policymaking.
Last night my opponent lied to the voters. He said I supported the resolution to defund the police. That was a lie. I have never supported this and I said clearly we don't need to support organizations.
What I care about: do we really want a leader who lies to his voters?
Know anyone who doesn't understand the importance of the

True story: last year
@PVRPD
had a fundraiser for dog parks - a dog mayor election. It got shut down because of some big scandal... but my dog was one of the candidates (not involved in the scandal).
If elected, I commit to bring an end to this era of non-answers from the government. If you ask a question, you should get a straight answer. Not some politically crafted nonsense that leaves the question unanswered.
Kafka's Castle was fiction. Let's keep it that way
Yesterday, the

published a letter by Kathy Long which contained misinformation. It said that March 5th will determine the next supervisor (this is not true, if no one gets over 50% there is a runoff in November).
Today, they published a guest column (!!!) in which the
@KyleBJorrey
I was up by Padre Serra the other day, and saw their outdoor set up for services. They had canopies for those that needed to be in the shade, and frankly it seemed a lot nicer than being in a stuffy church. Same as the hair and nail salons - outdoors is always better!
GREAT Zoom chat at tonight’s Listening Session. We talked about PVRPD relationships on events, at large mayor, commercial development, the airport, public health and safety, homelessness, pandemic recovery, and road design for safety.
My daughter is doing her teleheatlh physical therapy visit, and I can hear them downstairs talking about how Tuesday’s move to red tier has already turned into people ripping off their masks and acting like this is all over again. The physical therapist said she gives it 2 weeks.
Remind us again Ventura County. Who matters? I call on my opponent to publicly denounce racism. He says he’s led us through a time of racial reckoning.
I am calling on my opponent to immediately and publicly denounce the actions of the VC Republican Party, who have endorsed him; and ensure Camarillo’s election integrity by demanding that unofficial ballot boxes not be found in our city, as they have in neighboring towns.
@lakeshow
@KyleBJorrey
And some, because at some times he was passive when he should have been restrictive, and the vice versa? Where he should have been restrictive, I think he's been too passive. Where he's been super restrictive, I felt he went too far. But I don't work in public health so...
@KyleBJorrey
All this has done is empower the other churches in VC. Camarillo Community Church posted on social media yesterday - large groups, crowded together, no masks. These people do not care about the businesses suffering and people dying. It is a sad time for our community.
@nilocobau
I understand your points; however, I think it makes it more accessible for parents or kids with accessibility needs, addresses safety issues in area with high crime especially relative to trafficking, and makes sense. If you’re not into it, simply don’t take your kids 🤷🏻♀️
Herd Immunity is genocide if it’s not from a vaccine. It is cruel, and will cost millions of lives. In American, it will cost 5 million more lives. In Camarillo it will cost 375 more lives. These are facts.
Are you willing to be one of the 375? Wear your mask.
Is running a city a complicated and messy process? Absolutely. Does the public deserve more transparency and information, and engagement in the process?
Abs-o-freakin-lutely.
It's funny how I'm not even running for office anymore, I lost in a clear and swift defeat; and yet still the hatred is coming out. Today I was called a Communist. I was told that Camarillo made itself clear it's time for me to move. (1/2)
At 2 AM the tornado warning for Ventura and Oxnard will expire, the National Weather Service has now issued a warning for Flash Flooding.
This is a very dangerous and fluid situation. Flash flooding is called “flash” for a reason - it can come very fast, sweeping up cars or
I am beyond honored to announce that I have been endorsed by our local SEIU 121RN - the nurse’s alliance that represents nurses in Camarillo and its hospital.
My 12 and 3 year olds have made signs for the neighborhood for our donut and coffee event. Don’t disappoint them - come for Curbside Pickup Donuts and Coffee On Us - this Saturday!
Over 90% of people that work in Ventura County commute 15 minutes or more. Today is a great day to remember that urban planning for work and home to be within walking or biking distance is long term sustainability and climate justice
I put a fun ad up an hour ago about reasons to vote for a mom. It’s fun, and much of it is true. One hour.
I’ve already gotten a comment about how it is an affront to men and dads everywhere.
Boy Camarillo. We have some big time work to do. Big time.
Prior to the pandemic, Camarillo's homelessness was on the decline for three, straight years. Now, we are expecting a marked increase in the coming year because of the crisis.
I will not stand by and wait for someone else to help our vulnerable populations.
I'm hosting a listening session this Tuesday, anyone in Camarillo available should come! You are elected from the district to serve the entire city, so concerns and ideas from all are welcome! Details for the Zoom enclosed
Vote for me! I know how to deal with technical difficulties over Zoom, whereas my opponent is killing us all slowly here with the audio feedback at the Transportation Committee meeting.
