@epicdndmemes I've actually done number 3 though it was a letter to their kid. The paladin rode through the night to where the letter was addressed and claimed to be the kids father. He ended up paying for the kid's whole future.

@JoCat105 As a DM, something I tell my players is "do not specialize", I'm going to throw things at you that you will not have fun with if you do. I still get a pure fire mage every time, who is very upset when the mage has a buff Azer bodyguard and they can't do damage.

@epicdndmemes so our gnome technically died like this one game, because of tenser floating disk. We had built a contraption that sat on a floating disk, and pushed you 3 feet and on 1inch away from it. the vehicle would grow exponentially in speed until he broke orbit.

@MTBlack2567 If I am not doing a Hot-Start, my favorite getting to know you event is a funeral. Each player is primed with having known the deceased, either good or bad, plus eulogies make for great on the spot RP. Lastly the deceased leaves them a simple quest in his will. Instant Party.

@HN2DM no I have never done this, I have shot four magic missiles into the cleric as he was casting though. he had to make 4 concentration checks. 4 rolls of the dice to determine whether your party heals is a lot better than just an outright no in my opinion.

@HN2DM so my favorite method of stat generation is dice21. each player rolls 21 dice then assembles them into 6 stats, we don't care how many dice you place into a stat only that at the end there are at least 3 remaining die that have not gone into any stat.
