TRAINING IDEA Final 3rd entries, a huge metric used in coaching to see how effective and efficient a team is moving forward. Coaches have you thought on how you look to access the final 3rd and does this align with your forwards qualities and how you look to build your game.

COACHES 🔊 Do we ever consider our coaching language and how it can be different for each player and each coach? Here's an example when assigning numbers to positions in midfield & how the roles may differ between numbers. Do our players understand what we ask of them?

COACHES 🔈 Does your game plan and training methods guide players into assisting and shooting from certain areas? Or do you give your players free reign to shoot from anywhere? xG has become an interesting metric which has helped shape the games top teams finishing patterns.

These number roles play an important role in how a coach builds a playing system for players. Tactical changes may be made with switches in role so it is key that players fully understand the demands in each role based on your ideas. #grassrootsfootball #coaching #football

Should a team create 5 passes then score in the other half they then receive a pass in the central area and attack the other half again. Should the defending team in 1st half win possession they counter to score in that half. Then receive in central channel to attack 2nd half.

If at any point the defending team in the second half wins the ball, they then look to escape their half and counter-attack into other half. Middle zone gives space to organise before entering the other half, this is the third type of transition possible. #grassrootsfootball

I would love to know how many coaches looking to emulate these playing styles have their own training pitch structure? Do coaches have specific rules based on areas of the pitch or do they believe that players must move into certain zones at certain times?

Structure inside hexagon is key as it allows for diagonal passes in 🔺 shapes to play around pressure, these passes naturally allow to open their body shape to play forward. As ball is played forward the pitch shape encourages player behaviour with diagonal movements to the goal.

With your side do you speak to players on, Assist zones, Finishing zones, Areas of maximum opportunity, The golden zone ? Coaching your teams to work the ball into areas, recycling play from deep areas, patient switching from zone to zone could lead to a more efficient output.

Defending team has 2 opportunities to score on transition, 1st inside hexagon, press and win the ball, score instantly in one of the target goals. 2nd is when they are defending the large goal if they regain possession they can counter and score. #grassrootsfootball

@SteveLilley4 100% the great thing about this is that it can be applied in many different ways. Although at the top level it looks and is very complicated it can be made so simple for all ages. As you said references points can be vital especially for the visual learners or learn by doing.

Image 4 - Hybrid Hybrid approach allows coaches to both protect space and directly mark some opponents. May be used if the attacking team has an aerial threat. Equally a coach may wish to block runs into dangerous spaces so that his players can attack the ball cleanly to clear.

@Quinntactics 100% some players are able to move between categories based on tactical systems or what their teams need in certain moments. This is sometimes what separates a good player to a very good player. Equally some become masters of one form of play.

Man 4 man A very aggressive style of defending a corner, coach may be very confident that his players can dominate 1v1 aerially giving them free rein to mark & attack the corner. This however can be a risk as it allows the ATT to drag DEF players away from key areas
