Smith’s barbaric display of honour culture last night wasn’t the only one. Chris Rock is wrong as well & not for the joke, for accepting the terms of engagement. By not charging Will Smith he’s tacitly saying this is a legitimate form of conflict resolution for offensive remarks.

For the last several decades a deliberate effort was made to blandify pork. Breed the fat and flavour out of it to compete with the likes of chicken. If you can get your hands on heritage breed pork it’s worth the effort and expense. Completely different animal.

Looks like Rod finally blocked me. I thought this would happen eventually. I can honestly say I wish him the best. Can also say I hope his political worldview doesn’t take hold. Zero sum identitarian frameworks are ultimately unethical. Collective blame and praise are untenable.

Not effective at all. The “work” that’s being done for the most part comes in the form of etiquette training for those inhabiting elite cosmopolitan spaces. It’s culture promulgation, which does little to improve the material condition of those hampered by historical racism.

The idea that it’s not enough to not be racist, one must also be ‘anti-racist’ (ie striving for racial equity) is fundamentally flawed. Setting aside the pathology of reifying racial identity, the notion that I need something more from you than to not discriminate is dehumanizing
