F1 drivers at the end of a season: "I knew as soon as I drove this car in February that it was great/rubbish."
F1 drivers when asked about their cars every February: "Too early to tell."
If Max Verstappen had started where Sergio Perez did today in the

, he'd have beaten the Mercedes drivers.
In fact, he'd probably have still won 🏆

If Mercedes helps de Vries into a 2022 Williams

drive it’ll be hard to have much sympathy for Red Bull over the matter. They have 4 cars and they didn’t want to put Albon in one of those, so they can’t be too upset if their hope of putting him somewhere else doesn’t come off
Bit of a shocker from the McLaren pit wall there today.
Should have stacked their cars first time.
Then left Norris out too long.
Then should have put him on mediums for the final stint.
If Lando made the call for softs, they should have overruled him.
Driving like this has no place in any racing series, professional or amateur.
To say afterwards: “I had to risk everything” and “I was surprised Liam put up such a fight” is nonsense.
And he only got a 5-sec penalty for it. DTM and F1 must share officials 🤦♂️
How sad and predictable.
Did Red Bull get off lightly over the 2021 cost cap? Yeah, probably. I'd have certainly had no problem with a much harsher penalty than they got.
But if you think that overspend is the reason they are dominating
#F1
now, you're not paying attention.
Andretti rejected by
#F1
. Greed wins.
We have teams in the back half of the grid doing very little with the supposed ‘value’ that an 11th entry would threaten - but they’re welcome to stay 🙄
Flawed system.
This angle does it SO much more justice than the Schumacher onboard from the live broadcast.
You get a much better sense of how both cars were dancing around through the whole corner - phenomenal 😮💨
"As far as I am concerned, the FIA are the regulators of F1. I don't see why the teams should be involved in saying whether someone should break the rules or not. The rules are the rules at the end of the day."

So Las Vegas can combine the over-the-top glitz & glamour with a circuit that's at least fit for modern F1 cars and provides decent racing and real overtaking opportunities.
Which makes me wonder - what's the point of Monaco now?
❌ NO DECISION UNTIL FRIDAY
The stewards are "now considering the matter" of Mercedes' review request following a hearing of several hours.
But they'll only have a decision ready tomorrow

With 8 laps to go and fresher tyres for
@LandoNorris
, this move was on. I think there’s some IndyCar snobbery being directed at the F1 guy if any of the drivers and spotters want to criticise this - or in the case of Pagenaud, think it warrants petty retribution
This feels a bit like the FIA is trying to tell people they are upset because they don’t understand it, and hoping that by saying they’ll look into it, it’ll just go away. Interesting approach.
The FIA is to launch a “detailed analysis and clarification exercise” around the Abu Dhabi

season finale as the governing body says it is “tarnishing the image of the championship”:
Fake crowd noises and cutting away from the action to show overreacting ‘fans’ in the grandstands. Why does whoever is in charge of the

Another great race. Let the real action excite people and stop trying to fudge it.

Very selective use of

Shows the importance of independent media coverage and why fans need to make their voices heard too

Well said. Silverstone has fleeced F1 fans in recent years and now realises it’s gone too far.
You can’t enjoy the benefits of supply and demand without being willing to take it on the chin when you overstep.
🗣️ "I don't think it's my fault. The F1 season is very exciting."
Max Verstappen rejects any notion he and Red Bull are the reason for reduced British GP ticket sales ⬇️
If Red Bull was leaning towards getting rid of Perez over the summer break, I'm not sure turning a front row start into 'last in class' is going to change their mind
Verstappen and Norris will collide again.
When you battle with Max regularly, you have to race him the way he will race you. Otherwise he’ll walk all over you.
Expect more fireworks! 🎆
If Gene Haas doesn't want to invest to make his

team more competitive, why not sell to
@michaelandretti
?
You get loads of money, a rare buyer who won't mind the lack of infrastructure (given he's willing to go it alone) and solve F1's problem with wanting to reject Andretti
@redbullracing
They’re all good in their own ways (even India had some interesting corners and overtaking spots), but Sepang all day long. Brilliant track that was a huge shame for F1 to stop going to 😔
If you were only planning to watch the
#Indy500
to follow Alonso, do yourself a favour and still watch it. The race will be just fine without him. An orange car droning round at the back was hardly going to add to the spectacle of this incredible event
What? I see nothing in this plan that will make this claim a thing
#F1
🤦♂️🤨🧐🤔
The slowest cars will still drive around at the back. Let’s not pretend otherwise 😅
"Yeah but Gasly drove too fast even once the red flag was out" does NOT deflect from the fact the FIA sent a recovery vehicle onto the track way too hastily.
It should NOT have been sent out until the race was red flagged and all cars were back to the pits.
Unfortunately Logan Sargeant is wearing out the ‘give rookies time’ argument.
It’s true to a point, but this far into the season there should be more signs of promise.
Ultimately if you’re really good enough to stick around in
#F1
, you should be showing more by now.
Both drivers at fault here:
- Don’t enter the tunnel if your car is only capable of going that slowly
- If you’re the following car and you see a warning of a slow car up ahead, then for crying out loud slow down
Dreadful 👎🏻
This is a great F1 race. Four evenly matched teams, mixed strategies, and constant doubt over who is looking most likely to win. So much intrigue.
Hopefully we’re set for much more of this over the rest of 2024 and ‘25! 🙏
Let’s hope FE does a good job shouting about this finish.
And that doesn’t meant taking weird jabs at F1 to get attention.
The ‘peloton’ early stages are a bit ‘watch in the background’, but when they come alive as intended the final laps are great.
I hope the Racing Point justification for choosing to keep Stroll over Perez doesn’t involve mentioning Stroll’s Monza result. That was a victory lost, not a podium ‘won’
The gold is in the building! 🏅
Thanks to all the people
@wearetherace
who played a part in us earning this, and of course a huge thank you to everybody who has watched our stuff 🙏🏻
Watched it back several times. Hamilton keeps a lot of lock on and hasn’t got back on the throttle (which would push him wide) before contact. Racing incident. Admirable opportunism from Albon but 10 to go was a little too early to take the risk when you hold most of the cards.

You can picture the scene, can't you?

Some existing teams would do well to ask that about themselves too.

🤯 Wow - this one means a lot.
It’s hard, hard work, and often very tiring and stressful to keep the wheels turning, but can be VERY rewarding.
It wouldn’t be worth all of that if people weren’t watching. So thank you to everyone who likes what we do!

As for the team orders that ultimately decided the title, well, DTM's gonna DTM.
I guess I'm desensitised to that element after covering the series for four years when Merc and Audi were supplying half the grid each and races would be manipulated a fair bit.

Why on earth did it take them so long to neutralise the race when a car (and its driver) were THIS in the firing line.
I know they’ll argue that double waved yellows are a strict instruction to proceed with caution, but come on
That is seriously poor 👎🏻
Given that Abu Dhabi 2021 happened because of desperation to avoid a safety car finish, it's an oversight that last winter nobody came up with a better alternative to everyone trundling round until the 🏁 when there's a late incident

A company famed for marketing has pulled off one of the worst rebrand attempts F1 has seen.
There’ll be people saying there’s no such thing as bad publicity, but there is when the bad publicity is followed by no one caring anymore.
That won’t have been in the sponsor pitch.
I’ll be very interested to see if Helmut Marko is in the Red Bull garage as normal during the Singapore GP weekend.
Somebody writing an apology for you to make sure you don’t mess it up shouldn’t mean everything automatically goes back to the way it was before.

When I covered Bottas in the junior ranks (friendly, polite, quiet) I could never have imagined he’d be doing stuff like this 😂😂
He returned my first call to him in 2009 with “Hello, it’s Bottas” - he should refer to himself by surname at all times
Very interested to see how mixed the reaction is to Guenther Steiner leaving Haas. Seems like a lot of people think he was part of the problem there.
My suspicion is that the problem at that team sits a bit higher in the tree than his level
