This is why Wilt's 100 and even Kobe's 81 feel so untouchable. Harden had 60 through 3 quarters and his team was up by a billion. Kobe scored 81 because the Lakers were getting their asses kicked in that game and needed him to carry them.
“Kobe really needed Pau for those last two championships that they won together. Whatever path that I'm on and we're on, KP really feels like the missing piece.”

"Giannis might win a championship without a Superteam. LeBron hasn't really done that, Kevin Durant hasn't really done that. That would be big for Giannis' legacy." —

The Lakers need to really evaluate their medical/training staff this offseason.
For years now, they’re constantly missing multiple rotation players at any given time, initial recovery times have often been way off, etc. No excuse this franchise can’t get an elite training staff.

: Los Angeles Lakers F Christian Wood will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. The Lakers final regular season game is April 14.
The other three 2020 NBA conference finalists in the bubble have a combined record of 35-36 (.493) so far this season.
The Lakers are now at 20-6 (.769) with tonight's win.
I watched deals like Ariza for 2 years at $24 million get thrown around last Sunday and y'all want to tell me that Danny Green's deal is a bad one for an elite three and D wing? Save it.
FILM THREAD: Let's take a look at Russell Westbrook last night in Charlotte. This has been a trend for a good part of the season, but there's a glaring difference in his comfortability and success based on what type of lineups he's surrounded by. Last night was another example.
Decided to go on a late-night drive to be alone with my thoughts. I wanted to see the purple and gold lights for myself. What I wasn't expecting was this billboard as I was entering downtown Boise. 💜💛
NBA Twitter from 2013 to 2018:
"LMAO the Laker brand is dead! Nobody wants to sign with the Lakers! But keep making photoshops and chasing free agents you won't get. You're just like the Knicks."
NBA Twitter now:
nah you guys don’t get to pull this card. If it wasn’t for market location you guys would still be in the middle of a rebuild. Being awful for years and still being able to sign the best player in the world isn’t “coming a long way” its just being fortunate
When the deadline hits on Thursday, the Lakers will either have Anthony Davis with LeBron James, or they'll have LeBron with a solid core of young talent and enough cap space to chase another star in free agency, or Davis via trade again.
They're doing just fine.
"Ain't no way in hell that they go to the playoffs this year with that roster. JJ Redick can draw up the annexation of Puerto Rico, it does not matter."
Udonis Haslem doesn't believe the Lakers are a true title contender next season 😳

I’m still annoyed that the Lakers just didn’t counter Denver’s easily diagnosable adjustment of putting Gordon on AD and KCP on LeBron. So many ways to attack that and they just … didn’t.
Remember when NBA Twitter acted like the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs when they lost to Dallas earlier this season?
They finish 3-1 against the Mavs.
"The Lakers made a lot of mistakes. The intel Magic Johnson let out of that meeting was a mistake. Kawhi didn't have the trust in the organization, in the front office, or in their medical staff. Kawhi just level set the league." —
@criscarter80
I am not emotionally prepared to see Brandon Ingram get traded. I was ready to be patient and let him, Russell and Randle figure it out and grow together. Two are gone and now it feels like he's next 😭
Lakers fans deciding Woj is a liar and completely ignoring the fact that they have no money to offer anyone a max contract has been a pretty hilarious trend over the last few days
Sorry lakers fans, but we are not your second favorite team. I don’t care that we got all of your best young players. I don’t care that you got Anthony Davis. I don’t care that you want to watch Lonzo and Ingram. Don’t care. Find another team. We don’t need bandwagons.
For those comparing KD/Kawhi, here's the difference:
Kawhi has proven twice that he can win a title as the top dog against TWO superteams. He'd be joining a duo that hasn't played a single minute together yet. KD hadn't won before GSW and joined the historical team that beat him
Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie (

) says he will sign a one-year deal with the NBA team fans decide if they reach Bitcoin target of roughly $24,632,630 on a GoFundMe. Dinwiddie’s statement:
FWIW, on June 28 last year, Woj was pretty adamant that Paul George was strongly considering the Lakers. Two nights later, they didn't even get contacted for a meeting.
I think it’s only fair that any family members of Jontay that currently play in the NBA could be accessories to this act and should be suspended for the next 4-7 games.
Regarding Lakers-Spurs discussions. Things have been in the conceptual lane thus far. Ingram’s name has been in discussions but more as a player Spurs covet.
People really took this tweet as a shot at Harden and one at Kobe and I'm beyond baffled. It was neither. It was highlighting how rare the situation was for Kobe to have to score 81. Players now that have 50+ through 3 usually get the 4th up because they are up a lot.
If you could guarantee me the Lakers end up with either Kawhi or D'Angelo + Solid defensive backcourt starter next to him, I'd be thrilled either way.
But if they get Kawhi, some of y'all are gonna want to log off for a bit.
Listen, I don't ask for much in this world. All I ask is that D'Angelo Russell gets to hoist up the Larry O'Brien trophy wearing a Laker uniform next June. I don't think that's a lot to ask for, okay?
Had so many people tell me over the last two days: "You were the first person I thought of," when they heard the news. And I know a lot of you can relate to that. Kobe and basketball was my entire childhood. I feel so lost.
The Lakers really could have had a core of Russell, Ingram, Lonzo, Randle, Kuzma and Zubac in their early twenties (Lakers essentially got Hart from the Russell trade).
Imagine that group growing together.
Julius Randle is a great example of why you have to give young players time to mature and develop. So many people were ready to ship him out early in the season. Now look where we are.
Pay the man.
I'm not a fan of Rondo, but I understand it because it's a minimum deal for playmaking that'll be needed at times. I also think they overpaid for KCP. But I'm fairly pleased with how the Lakers have handled things today.
July, 2019:
Dell Demps: "Alright, you told us to wait and we told the Lakers to buzz off. You're willing to give up Tatum like we talked about, right?"
Danny Ainge: "Hear me out..."
