@_nomadic_soul I remember Laura Ingalls Wilder writing of how she asked Almanzo if he wanted her to promise to obey, and he said no. She said good, because she couldn't make a promise she knew she couldn't keep. As it happened, their pastor didn't believe in it and left it out of the ceremony.

@WomnOfValor Interestingly, when six boys washed up on a deserted island and were lost there for over a year, they made a little civilization instead of re-creating THE LORD OF THE FLIES. It's an amazing story. Maybe it's different when it's life or death.

@DuckieLouise @introuterine I have both a bachelor's and a master's degree and, having seen what dreck comes out of grad seminars and writing workshops, I can say that higher education does not make one a good writer. To paraphrase Grant Allen, don't let schooling interfere with your education. 📚

@snowhound208 @starson777 @_nomadic_soul Just because birth "fucking sucks" (and it's no walk in the park, friend) doesn't mean it's not 100% worth it. Life is hard. It's still worth living.
