I genuinely cannot stress this enough, but rejections are not about your quality. You are all INCREDIBLE writers. I have a vision for how I'd love to see certain pieces organized. Those outside the vision have absolutely nothing "wrong," they're just a different context.

My favorite thing about Mood is that we don't really edit. We proofread the grammar and punctuation and such, but we're not breaking down lines to fit some expected literary quality. We leave the piece be, exactly as the author intended it. And I think that's beautiful.

INSANE how I will start an email for a piece from the "no" pile, read the submission again, and type out an acceptance instead. Lot of editors and agents will underplay the role their reading mood plays in selecting, but some days, it's everything.

Really starting to appreciate journals like @AmPoetryReview and @UCityReview that feature more than one or two poems by the same writer. When there’s 5-6 you really get to immerse yourself in another writer’s voice and world.

like, I'm not even trying to hype it up. I'm legit sitting here looking at the stats of how everything I've read so far hits like a "yes," which is unprecedented in itself, and I'm wondering how this is even happening. We may be looking at the biggest acceptance rate of my life.

Sending positive notes in a pass feels a little icky to me, largely because I know what it's like as a writer to wonder, "Well if you liked it so much, why didn't you accept it?!" The "why" is often so subjective that it's not worth explaining. But here are a few answers 🧵

Said something very similar just yesterday to someone who's struggling with being too literal. Another way we put it is narrative tells the story like you've never heard it while poetry assumes you've read it and now want to discuss it
