Allah azawajaal is the best of planners.
I applied for on field research for my masters in November and I got approved during Ramadan. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala opened a door for me that made it impossible for me to travel to Somalia.
I was praying صلاة العشاء inside Masjid Harawa in Borama. The إمام who was leading prayer was beautifully reciting the Qurʾān to the point where I got emotional.
After asking a few elders about the إمام , I found him and he has agreed to become my Qurʾān teacher.
Alhamdullilah 🙏🏽
I’ve been approved to do on field research in
#Somalia
for my masters. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to travel back home and do research that is very close to my heart.
Alhamdullilah x1000
But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you.
And Allah Knows, while you know not.
Alhamdullilah
Nothing better than being Somali.
Met the most sweetest Somali sister’s from North London on our way to ṣalāt al-maġrib in Istanbul. They were so loving and had such a pure level of energy to the point you could see the noor on their faces.
إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُون
So sad to hear of the passing of Adeer Jaamac c/laahi coofle.
A famous pilot from Borama who flew the last plane of Somali airlines in 1990 from Mogadishu to Frankfurt. He was a very close uncle and good friend to my parents.
I was worried and afraid my academic career would be in jeopardy. I never lost hope in making du’a. He closed the door that was made open for me and gave me better.
Now, I’m smiling from ear to ear in Somalia conducting research for my thesis.
Allah azawajaal is the best of planners.
I submitted my thesis in August while in Boorama, Soomaaliya and received my letter grade of an A+ in September. I was sent my digital degree via email in October.
And my graduation ceremony will be in a few months hadu Alle yidha.
A life long goal of mine is to build an orphanage on behalf of my grandma Maryan Abdilaahi Allah yarham in my hometown Dilla.
May Allah azawajaal allow me to live long enough to realize my dream. For in the end We belong to Allah, and to Him we return.
Boorama, Awdal 🇸🇴
#Borama
is a mountainous, green and hilly city and is the capital city of the Awdal region.
Boorama waa Baradii Cilmiga iyo Maskaxdii Soomaaliya halkay taalay
Fiqi Aadan it was a pleasure to see you again.
I’m finally back home in Somalia. Safely arrived in Borama cadey this morning. Missed my beautiful province🤍
Awdal laydin geeeee 🇸🇴
إِنَّا ِلِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
On February 4, 1991, a heartbreaking day in Borama and Dilla, we lost many precious hearts at the hands of the rebel movement SNM. The SNM ruthlessly demolished both cities, which were left in ruins after the massacre.
My travels in Somalia have been wonderful and this news will not only benefit my دُنْيا but, my أخيرة as well.
Beautiful way to start my Friday. جمعة مباركة🤍
Alhamdullilah always
We just had an eventful meeting with the mayor of borama for the opening of our milk factory.
May Allah swt make this journey easy for my family and grant borama and the entire gobol of awdal an infinite amount of success. Allahumma amiin.
borama, somalia 💙
a year and a half later and i find myself back in borama cadey enjoying my time with family.
the sense of community and love here is unmatched. it’s already been a month since i’ve arrived and i’m having a blast.

🧵 Thread about February 4th, 1991.
The treacherous massacre that happened in
#Awdal
at the hands of the Somali National Mouvement (SNM).
my greatest dream came true today… a road trip around awdal 🇸🇴 w/ my amazing dad alhamdullilah 🙏🏾 May Allah swt protect our parents and grant them the highest level of jannatul firdaus, allahumma amiin
Had a lovely dinner with my cousin inside Rays Hotel. The city is growing and I’m glad to see some positive progress in the restaurant industry.
There’s a dire need for investment in Borama and I’m hoping road infrastructure and economic growth will follow.

My last day in Borama 🇸🇴
It has been an exhilarating 7 months and a half travelling around Somalia, Ethiopia and Djibouti. I’ve created an insurmountable amount of experiences with friends and family in which I will cherish forever.
Alhamdullilah 💙
Alhamdullilah for another year of life 🤍
Unfortunately, I was not back home in Somalia 🇸🇴 this year, but I have been travelling around nine countries in Europe with my mum for over a month and a half.
May Allah swt grant me many more years of happiness to come.
Amiin amiin
Sending you all a heartfelt happy Independence Day from Nothern Somalia.
May Allah azawajaal protect our beautiful country, facilitate prosperity and unity.
Here is a memorable picture from my trip to Mogadishu in 2021.
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
I have travelled different parts of the world and find myself enjoying Somalia more than anywhere else.
I’m grateful to be alive to experience another beautiful journey in my home country.
Somaaliya hanoolato ilmadeerayal 🇸🇴
Life is beautiful and I’m so happy.
3 of my cousins from the diaspora are coming to Borama in July and some already came this week.
I’m so excited to finally meet them and to make new friends and see old friends here in our hometown.
As-salamu alaykum everyone,

I'm happy to share a short article I wrote for
@Kormeeraha
magazine on my trip to Mogadishu, Somalia's gorgeous capital city 💙
Me and the sister’s couldn’t stop hugging and smiling to the point where Turkish folks came up to us and were smiling, hugging and complimenting us too.
May Allah protect those lovely girls from evil and grant them the highest level of Jannatul firdaus.
Ameen ya rab 🤍
Thankful to be in a Muslim country.
The fact I get to wake up for fajr because I can hear the Athan from the comfort of my room is very beautiful.
Alhamdullilah
My last day in Borama 🇸🇴
It has been an exhilarating 7 months and a half travelling around Somalia, Ethiopia and Djibouti. I’ve created an insurmountable amount of experiences with friends and family in which I will cherish forever.
Alhamdullilah 💙
My being alive and healthy today in my beautiful home country surrounded by my family is as a result of none other than Allah swt.
Ya rab, I’ll forever be grateful. Thank you for another year. 🎉
Alhamdullilah always.
Today was an emotional day for me. Me and my mom went to my hometown Dilla to meet up with my mom’s sister coming from Hargeisa for a charity project.
When I saw habo Hawa Roda on the other side of the road I ran towards her like Usain Bolt and gave her the biggest hug.
Me and my mother were separated at the
#Djibouti
border. I will never forget the distress and tears down my mother’s face.
My mother being a
#Djibouti
citizen and her daughter with legal documentation being denied entry was shocking to us all. Corrupt systems never prevail.
Mogadishu is a beautiful city where the people are welcoming and generous.
I urge the entire Somali diaspora to take a visit to Mogadishu and experience the beauty.
May Allah swt grant Somalia success, stability, unity and prosperity.
Amiin ya rab
Read this article I wrote for
@Kormeeraha
magazine to inform yourselves about the Dilla Massacre in 1991.
May Allah forgive our people we lost for their shortcomings, protect them from the trial of the grave and torment of Fire.
Allahumma ameen 🤲🏾
3 weeks and a half later in Mogadishu and I’m emotional to say I’m leaving.
I’ll definitely be back. Hopefully next time it will be a permanent stay inshallah.
Alhamdullilah for the experience to visit the capital of my beautiful country Somalia💙
During my walk on the Amoud University campus, there were two uncles who were looking for someone to take a photo of them.
I stopped and asked if they needed help. We began sharing life stories. From Finland and Manchester, they finally met again after 30 years.
#Harar
the city of Somali’s will always be my home 🇸🇴
The city of
#Harar
holds an unparalleled historical significance for me. Travelling from
#Awdal
to
#Harar
, exploring my ancestral land, and delving into its history has fostered a deep love for my
#Somali
identity and roots.
It used to be Somali only.
Harar has never been the same since it was taken by the Abyssinians in the late 19th century.
A day will come when its true owners will rule it again.
I was denied entry into Djibouti from the Somalia border with my Canadian passport and visa after an 18 hour car drive from Borama to Loyacado.
Djibouti and “Somaliland” govt have a few similarities; they both operate illegally and only want money.
Share and donate to our Eid ul Adha fundraiser for clothes and gifts for orphans in

. Your generosity in our last campaign brought smiles to the faces of over 500 orphans for Eid ul Fitr. Now, we need your support again to continue spreading joy.
This is a must- read for anyone seeking to travel to

🇸🇴
This article talks about my 7 month travels in
#Awdal
. Not only do I write about my experience but, my intention is to encourage the Somali diaspora to visit their lands and to invest!

As I’m currently travelling around Soomaaliya, here’s an article where I shed light on the development disparities and government bias between Borama and Hargeisa.
Enjoy the read!
