Starting this week with such positive vibes! If you know her say hi to her, thank her for bringing such joy to this little child. May her doors in this career open wider and further.
Our avocados are being rejected abroad because of excess levels of pesticides and we think we have systems to regulate GMOs? We’re about to be dumping sites for other countries. We need food security but we need to be well-prepared.
We have an injured doctor lying at the same spot for two hours.
Cops would not allow ambulances to access victims, but are allowing them to evacuate MPs instead of those who need urgent care.
There’s something we all need to agree on, MPs snaked Kenyans, then saved themselves
To self-employed Kenyans please make sure you have healthcare insurance. Bare minimum NHIF, if you can get more insurance. Please take it as seriously as you take rent and food as an expense. Please!
Someone should do a study on ‘Leo tunakula nini?’ Heh mothers really try. Everyday for over 7300 days of their kid’s lives they have answers for this unendingly hard question
Do you know what else happens in a nationwide blackout? Many public hosps don’t have back up.
Theatres grind to a halt, oxygen concentrators not working, nebulizers for asthmatic children not working, babies in NBU and NICU suffer. People die. It happens. Corruption does this.
A whole Kenyan generation missed the art&craft, music, homescience, masonry, carpentry phase of primary & high school. They were forced to cram for sciences and humanities only, hindered from horning talents into skilled trade, now suffering as ‘jobless’. Modify don’t delete CBC.
58 years later and this is how we are propping patients in Nairobi. Elections are coming. Where is your leader?
We deserve better healthcare, we can have it.
Now manufacturing can be done in Kenya. Decisions are being made overnight. With no funding. So it's definite that in the past manufacturing was intentionally frustrated and industries killed~

I think a new name is the last thing you should worry about. Just like police uniforms and new notes (all of which look worse). Let’s normalise strengthening systems not outfits.
The issue of patients dying at A&E because KNH lifts aren’t working therefore cannot be wheeled up to theatre is the epitome of a collapsed system. Doctors are taking a mental beating and we’re now getting used to the song. It’s just WRONG!
Guys it finally happened to me. A popular Kenyan vendor did that thing. What I ordered vs what I got. My guests sending me videos at 1 pm and me being in utter shock. Anyway the kids had crazy fun!
Here is a list of all, and I mean ALL 622 hospitals in Kenya approved by

sites. Stop making your elderly parents travel to queue at Mbagathi whilst their nearest sub-counties can offer the service. Skim through and share to anyone over 58 yrs old.
None of these things are getting to public hospitals. Yet they’re sold online all over. Check your systems

Late night musings: how are you a single lady in Nbi accruing rent debt to 750k because you live in a 250k apartment and keep begging friends for loans? 250k pm? No income? Si must.
I have decided to wake up every day and tell myself that I refuse to accept mediocrity, I refuse to vote like a Kenyan who has no choice. I refuse to side with anyone who steals from healthcare. It’s not about them but about me. What I think I deserve reflects my value of self.
Thread: An entire generation is drowning as we watch. No sports or drama shows in schools, idle minds, wasted talents breeding hopeless youth. They exit, no space for talent management in Kenya. Nobody is investing to open those doors. They don’t learn team work, perseverance….
I Dr. Rowena N. Wairimu have dedicated myself as a frontline healthcare worker in this covid-19 pandemic. I promise to do everything possible to take care of you.
Government of Kenya, I need personal protective equipment to protect myself and my family
#ProtectHealthCareWorkers
A doctor working in Covid-19 wards without a salary for five months succumbs to the disease but we want to pretend that he acquired it ‘elsewhere’. It’s our government Trump was referring to when he said Kenya is a ....
We don’t have protective suits in most public hospitals. Stop traveling from city to rurals because we are spreading it to systems that are not capable of handling patients yet. Social distancing and hand hygiene. Protect your grandparents by social distancing.

Some people on this app are bitter because Eastlands has a culture to showcase despite the living conditions.Ugandan ghetto kids can dance on intl stages but when it comes to umoja celebrating art, it’s ‘ghetto mentality’. You only want to hear crime, garbage and poverty huh?
Idk why it’s not bothering anyone that UoN medical students haven’t resumed physical classes since covid. Ward rounds are so crowded patients refuse to be physically examined multiple times, hence poor clinical skills. Someone pls question the ever declining quality of training!
We're asking for willing blood donors to make their way to KNH UoN Medschool admin grounds to donate. A lot of blood is needed. Please be well hydrated.
Blood donation activities are on-going in all Regional Blood Transfusion Centres and county satellite banks countrywide.
The thing that no doctor wants to say out loud is we’re literally being pushed out of the system against our will. Most of us want to work in a healthy and happy environment in public service but it’s just not working anymore and it really sucks.
1.I’m glad that
@citizentvkenya
&
@VickyRubadiri
highlighted the issue of breast milk donation. I’ve been vulnerable enough on my ig about my hunt for breastmilk , my baby’s intolerance to formula and the immense support from 4 of my friends who have consistently donated milk
If you happen to get a window seat traveling to coast, you’ll probably see one minute of greenery near Nbi environs, most of the rest to coast looked more like this. Guys kumekauka sana. Things are not good with this drought.
Did you know that Covid-19 is mutating at several components of the virus including at the genes used for diagnosis? meaning patients with variants are testing negative yet suffering full-blown classic covid disease. Now you know. Invest in infrastructure~ Prof Anzala.
Schools should be closed. Unless Ministry of Education can cater to house within school compounds all teachers and their families, exams never superseded human life. Teachers are dying too.
Let’s discourage massive commute to elderly grandparents during the Christmas season. If possible let’s sit this one out otherwise our diabetic grandfathers and mothers cannot fight Covid. Please deliberate with your families. It’s been a hard year but village hospitals CANNOT.
The issue with Healthcare in Mombasa is starting to sound a bit too personal. Evicting doctors and their families from the houses that they renovated themselves, the same doctors who bent over backwards to support Covid Fight when Msa was a hotspot? Mombasa doctors stay strong.
Such an honor to lead the launch of covid vaccination for Healthcare Workers at Kangema Sub-County after a sensitization exercise. I have 94 staff under me here and many others across 17 centres in the sub-county. It’s a choice to lead by example.
#demystifycovidvaccine
Healthcare in Kenya is EXPENSIVE. Most of us are one chronic illness away from poverty. The cost of providing care is high- commodities, taxes, brokers, corruption, licensing, poor regulation to protect mwananchi, cartels. Are there rogue doctors? Yes, like any other profession
Every month
@SafaricomPLC
gives me free WhatsApp, 600 Minutes, 2000 SMS, 12.0 GB, and 2GB YouTube as a frontline healthcare worker in management to communicate, co-ordinate and train others in Kangema. It's the small things that keep us in this relationship with you. Asante!
Dear Kenyans, we don’t have blood for patients. We. just. don’t.
There’s many IT innovations offering solutions to this blood crisis and none supported bc solutions create accountability.
Family members pool together, tough times ahead.
They’ve bled the system dry.
Happy to see
@serenawilliams
‘s baby sporting a Kenyan flag bracelet. We have one of the most beautiful flag colors in the world!
I wonder if we could get some insights there.
The
@MOH_Kenya
is too quiet on the incident at Mukumu. A postmortem saying multi organ failure is not enough, what does toxicology show? Public Health please say more, whatever ailed them could be in the community too!
Every Kenyan should wake up everyday and make a decision to demand for what is right. When you speak up for the voiceless, push for the disadvantaged things like taxing donated ARVs don’t see the light of day. There is power in numbers.
On the other hand a second vendor showed up and showed out with the best dessert cake set up for kids. Run by two young ladies 25 year olds doing extremely good and very business savvy. Follow them, they saved the day, their set up became the centre. Dessert galore 254 on ig.
We took 8 hours at A&E to get a medical ward bed at one of the- if not the- best private hospital in Kenya with renowned accreditation standards. Guys the entire system is on its knees, even in private. You’ll just be waiting in a better stretcher with better curtains and walls.
I remember a day in 2017 when I went around Thika looking for locums and one in-charge doctor lady told me, without interviewing me, that she can’t give me a job because I look like I can influence other doctors against her. 💀
What do want to change in our healthcare system? Here’s one of mine. When I become Minister of Health all hospitals will become disability friendly. All healthcare workers will have to take short courses on sign language 🤟
In a country already short of doctors, Tuition fees for Medical Masters has tripled to 648k annually excl other costs incurred in training.
@MOH_Kenya
is hesitant to sponsor doctors and counties are struggling to keep them on a payroll. Are we surprised cost of care is rising?
Actually, I want to know which are the most reliable tampon brands and how secure the menstrual cup is. Don't put yourself on a dinner plate when you weren't on the menu.
Imagine you, tired athlete trying to get there in nick of time, being welcomed by ‘officials’ who have traveled, rested, and beaming at the hard work they have done of collecting your bib. Officials who got the privilege of traveling before you. Some with plus ones. 🚮🚮🚮
Team Kenya officials have picked up
@Ferdiomanyala
’s Bib number and they were also allowed to pick up his accreditation
Arrangements have also been made for a physiotherapist to see him on arrival in Eugene.
Hopes remain high that he will make it on time for heats
@Osama_otero
Nothing wrong esp if you have kids, the only problem is how most our rentals don’t come with in built mounts options to keep wires away. Otherwise below looks good and safe
There are so many already pre-meditated toxic fathers out here ready to be emotionally unavailable even before they have kids. I’ve seen so many replies to that post and ladies please, these things matter when choosing who to sire with. Red flags ziko hapo.
@muhzle
Your intentions might be genuine but tone deaf. Organize a meet and greet with key players using the right channels, other than promising alcohol and tea in exchange for brainpower. There’s many hubs that can help knowing you’ve been tasked to hunt for ‘start ups to fund’.Success
Dr Goody Gor is an excellent example of why you should never overlook young people. We have an entire generation that will say no to bad governance, that will stand for what is right, and will speak for the voiceless.
@GorGoody
100% behind you.
Kirinyaga's deplorable health state issues started in 2017, several letters were written to Governor Waiguru to no avail ~ Dr. Gor Goody, KMPDU Secretary, Central region.

4 handling my cousin promptly, brought in unconscious as unknown after an RTA, By the time we got there, they’d done trauma series, were managing the head injury etc. Kudos RFH too for offering immediate aid and transfer 🙏🏼 it should be like this.
The person who said the current regime has turned us all on X to be activists was so right. And this is important that we stay vigilant. We are not a lawless nation.
Our constitution needs to be protected by the citizens if the custodians cannot.
I want twitter for women. There's things I'm going through that I want to tweet about but I only want to talk about it with other women all over the world.
@AbdulahiAdan10
A whole lot of men seem to be bothered by this. Is it a deep insecurity realising that your money might not actually buy her?Nobody wants to have a lifetime of being cheated on and abused-unless you are so damn desperate and don’t believe in yourself as a woman to handle yourself
I am here to constantly remind you that we cannot normalise suffering and death from a broken system. We have to speak for the vulnerable. Healthcare is one sector we should not accept this.
Spreading false information about clinical practices on social media has so much worse consequences than thought. Now we’ll be having mothers not adhering to recommendations as seen on the partograph bc someone shared a birth process different from UK years ago. If you suspect
Last week I was too tired to write how I woke up with a feeling of suffocation. I gasped, wheezed and then cried. There’s no narrative ‘influencers’ are pushing. If I wasn’t vaccinated I can tell mine would have been bad. Stay safe my people. Si lazima.
1/2 Advice to Counties regarding healthcare, avoid investing in Tertiary Care infrastructure per county, it’s expensive and unsustainable. Unite as Regional Economic blocks and have 1 level 6, another county handle Blood Banks, another advanced ICU/Cardiac units,another Renal etc
Good morning! 10k+ followers just by sharing healthcare matters! It really matters to me that 10k people reverberate with my thoughts on how together we can get what we deserve! That 10k people didn’t need me to present myself in a certain way to gain an audience. Thank you!

It’s always a trap. Never do anything more than a shot and a beer at an office party. Never get drunk. Never talk person stuff. Never vent to a colleague or gossip. Keep your bare minimum attitude running at the party too.
Internship is honestly the most threatening year of a qualified doctor’s life. You are overworked, psychologically battling system inefficiencies trying to keep an emergency patient alive at 3am in a severely under equipped hospital with very little support. It

Go study medicine. Its the best career😀😀😀😀.

@MOH_Kenya
please pay interns their delayed salaries. Its our only motivation.
If I had a dental clinic I would have a night services option at a premium. Say 6pm to 11pm. Because it’s not always life-threatening, but so inconveniencing. Sometimes you need an elective service like cleaning, filling, but hustle demands make you procrastinate.
@KNH_hospital
has received 11 double crank beds with mackintosh mattresses from well-wishers mobilized by Dr. Rowena Njeri. The decision was made to have the beds branded in honor of long-serving doctors who have dedicated their lives to medical practice & training

Over treating, some wrong prescriptions too. Penicillin based drugs are avoided in enteritis. You didn’t need a ct scan. You likely have insurance though so. Get well soon

@coldtusker
1.Instead of bashing you, I’ll try educate you. (Many might ask-in these years of internet and education, why would you frame your question in such an insensitive manner?) I want to believe you meant to ask, “what factors lead to multiparity in low socioeconomic societies?”

One tried to bribe me to change a medical form in 2016, the guy was wheezing and failed resp test but parent in the force was insisting. I refused, later saw a list with the name. I refused to confirm that list, never seen them again.Never been called again to examine recruits.
2/2 The label clearly shows use of this coverall. These are for use in non-hazardous environments. Are we surprised that healthcare workers are getting infections?
