They did this at my school. In about 1983. Someone (dentist? Teacher? Lollipop lady?) bought in those plaque disclosing tablets that show the areas you miss when you brush. We all learned, we went about our business a little healthier, no one wrote about it in the tabloids.

12 weeks ago I went to the pub with some friends. Since then, I haven’t had a real-life conversation with anyone. I haven’t been anywhere except the supermarket / chemist / hospital / for short walks. Today I walked 3.6km to meet a friend in a park and it was GLORIOUS.

My grandma (93 this week) has just had her second dose of the vaccine. She was told she ‘will have full immunity after 15 days.’ Enormously relieved and very very grateful to everyone who got us to this point. Thank you @NHSuk ❤️

I’m 44. Heart age is 46. Tried checking what would happen if I lost weight / reduced my cholesterol etc: still 46. So I’m assuming my heart was born two years before me and kept in a box until I came along. It’s the only possible explanation.

I’ve had SAD for decades. I’ve found that making rituals around light helps me. So I put fairy lights up in October and light them every afternoon, and candles, and lamps. I’m also going to make an effort to eat breakfast outside every day to get as much daylight as possible.

I was 42 when #LittleDeaths was published, will be 46 when my second one comes out. I’m very glad I didn’t get published until I was in my 40s.

Been having a rough few days. Self care is a fucker to summon up, just when you need it most. Tonight I went to the supermarket, filled the fridge, cleaned the flat, and now I’m sitting here looking at the flowers I bought myself, and feeling grateful for small things.

We have a footballer ensuring that children are fed over the summer, and a 99 year old veteran raising millions to fund the NHS. No question that MB and Captain Tom are amazing, dedicated and generous men, but why the hell aren’t the govt doing this stuff instead??

I think this is the first time I��ve seen a woman on a film poster looking like someone I can identify with. I know she’s wearing make up but you can see lines and dirt. Her hair’s a mess. She looks exhausted, as she was by the time they reached Berlin. I love this.

My 8 yr old is working on his novel. After every sentence he says, 'Hell yeah! This is amazing!' then moonwalks round the room singing a verse or two from Smooth Criminal before continuing to type. I can't help but think his process is way cooler than mine. #amwriting

I don’t write every day. I haven’t read a lot of ‘must-read’ novels. (I’ve also never seen Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones) There’s no ‘must’ and there’s no ‘properly’. Find your own way and write the kind of book you want to read.

Just had a text from my cleaner *apologising* that she couldn’t come today. Told her not to be daft and that obviously I’ll still be paying her what I usually pay, plus extra because she’s losing money. If I’m lucky enough to be earning at the moment, it’s the least I can do.
