@1Schoolhouse Honestly, I feel like it's NTs that don't get sarcasm. Or rather, they get sarcasm, but appreciate it mainly in it's "you're a smart ass"/mocking form, which is pretty surface-y. My observation is that autistics are great at dead pan, snarky, satire, and meta layered humor.

An autistic shutdown or meltdown CANNOT be controlled. It is literally the brain having too much information to process, whether that is emotional, sensory, or other. Additionally, autistics process both more info and more heightened info on average than allistics.
