Black youth are 19 times more likely to be stopped and searched by police in London. Because this level of harassment is not enough, the police are asking for more powers.

Juries are also more diverse than judges so individual biases and prejudices are less likely to impact decision making with juries. In a criminal justice system stacked against black and brown people, this should be a key consideration.

And they all choose trial by jury because you are more likely to get a fair trial than in front of three identikit assessors of fact under pressure to reach a quick decision.
