@FloEshalomi I’ve seen the video and was so heartbroken for the young girl who had to endure that threatening ordeal. Every adult should be looking out for our children. These two lady literally saved this girl - can we identify them and publicly thank them.

Just went in to speak with staff at the burgess park test Center, as to why there’s no one there, and as I thought. The government has intervened and as of last Sunday you are not able to walk in - you now have to book an appointment via a website that can’t keep up with demand

Really great visiting the new Peckham Pantry grocery shop in our ward today. You sign up to be a member and for £4.50 you can pick any 10 items (there’s also a range of cultural foods), that far exceeds this amount. It’s a life support for many people in such uncertain times.

I still remember where I was sitting when the news broke. I couldn’t understand why anyone would want to hurt him, why anyone would do that. It was his story of coming to the UK for a better, safer life that broke me...the whole community was in pain. #damilolataylor

I still remember the grainy CCTV images of the little 10 yr old boy skipping past Peckham Library in his shinny puffa jacket. Tragically his life was taken a few minutes later. 20 years on, may his soul continue to rest in peace. #damilolataylor #hope2020

It was such a buzz to attend @mentivity official launch today at their temporary site at Burgess. I met some young people that were being mentored and also the amazing mentors themselves. This is what it’s all about - the community pulling together to identify and meet needs. 👏🏽

This morning I took part in park yoga in Trowbridge. It was a beautiful day & I was looking forward to easy stretches that will allow me a few mins shut eye…instead what I got was an all body workout..so needed! Thanks to the organisers. I thoroughly recommend it.

Wonderful to speak at the unveiling of the peace sculpture (located in the peace garden). The Dove, a striking symbol of peace, made by repurposing knife blades to create the wing and tail feathers. The peace garden is part of community’s effort to support change in Southwark.

Very please that @lb_southwark is now offering free, rapid COVID-19 tests to people aged 16+ who DON'T have Covid symptoms. It’s a very easy process and results are available within 1 hour. We are encouraging all key workers to get tested - let’s keep each other safe.

Spent the evening with 3 of Southwark’s inspiring @YoungAdvisors providing peer navigation. They go out and speak to the young people others will not approach and act as a mentor and to signpost. A challenging role that needs so many skills. Well-done for your passionate 👏🏽👏🏽

I have written to the new Home Secretary on the work of the council and recommendations of the Southwark youth violence panel. I also emphasised the need for the government to take a decisive lead on this matter including funding preventive measures and community policing.
