Sure but it seems unlikely that you can attribute all the bad to legal marijuana.
There are so many more issues that have occurred over the same timeframe that all are factors beyond legalizing this.
@NFL_DovKleiman
@DMRussini
I'm amazed he's one of the most consistent WR to ever play the game.
No matter what QB he posts 1,000 yard seasons and a bunch of TDs
@unusual_whales
Sounds like a headline you can read about any generation going back decades.
Just look at Time magazine on the topic.
They said this about X and the boomers
Now the Millenials and Gen Z - It's just more garbage to disregard.
@unusual_whales
They benefitted a lot sure but for the rest of us just focus on what you can control and how you can improve your life.
Don't worry about what everyone else has - it does nothing to help you and just brings you down.
"I'll just take the dividends to live in retirement." - The market crashed 8 months later.
This was in early 2007.
My friends father said that in January.
Little did he know that the market would crash before the end of the year.
His entire savings was in Citi stock.

You don't buy a home for capital appreciation.
It's nice when you get it but you buy a home for a personal space to raise a family and do your own thing.
Make sure you can invest with extra funds aside from the costs of home ownership - thats the real way to build freedom
@unusual_whales
Nothing wrong with spending the money you worked so hard for.
It's not a great idea to just give everything to your kids it just might rob them of the drive to push themselves to succeed and build their own thing.
@zachmelloh26
I honestly have no exit plan. I bought in with an amount I was willing to lose ages ago and I'm going to hold for much longer since I don't need the funds back any time soon.
Just interested in the tech and potential use cases.
@unusual_whales
A legendary investor without a doubt.
Hope his family is ok but to live to 99 and make an impact to the end is impressive beyond all measures
@unusual_whales
Corporations are buying up so much property.
I don't think the residential housing market is the serious concern in itself just whos buying and why
I find that even when people find some level of success they can still forget to value their time.
Example - Lawncare
Hire a service for $75 per hour and
In that hour everything is taken care of.
Where as if you were to do the same thing yourself
You are not a passive bystander.
You are a partner.
Whenever I talk about financial planning with people I work with, I say they are partnering in the success of their plan.
@SavingsCaptain
I think more people should just focus on themselves.
Live your own life and do your best.
Nothing wrong with a hard working individual working into their 60s - lifes not easy, things happen but all we can do is work hard to make our situation better.
@unusual_whales
Sure just blame everything on gen Z
This happens every generation the news talks down about the young generation
Just invest your money and get away from all the nonsense with more options in your life
Those headlines are just noise at the end of the day
@unusual_whales
No gas, train tickets, meals out, car maintenance reduced.
8% might even be a bit low.
Huge savings for the employer as well if they downsized office space.
Don't fall for 2 of the 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 when planning your life.
So many people substantially overestimate these simple things which can 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿.
What if you weren't around?
What would you're family do?
There are many ways you can improve your life with financial planning and take these worries off your plate.
Life insurance is one of them.
Here's one way to protect your family with insurance.
@anymanfitness
I have two now and I'm still in the on and off losing sleep days but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I look back at how I spent my time before kids and nothing compares
@unusual_whales
It seems like a worthless metric - Couldn't they just track productivity in a better way in general.
Plenty of non-work happens in the office.
I met a woman who inherited $2,000,000.
Sadly she'll spend it all in a few years.
Her father knew this would be the case and created a trust before he passed.
He forgot to fully fund the trust or add a successor trustee to advocate for his daughter.
When you create a trust
What do you do for work? Everyone's favorite question right?
Here's 1 way to flip the script when speaking to anyone.
It's the inevitable question we all ask when meeting someone new or going to a large get together.
Try this instead
The greatest compliment my father ever gives
Is when he says this about someone...
"They are eternally curious."
What he means by this is that.
They are constantly learning and growing and aren't afraid of trying something new.
What are you working for?
I've heard plenty of people say...
If I just work until burnout a few more times
Then I'll have X
For many that means
-Money
-Freedom
-A vacation
It also means:
-Unlimited hours without a defined goal
-Less moments with family
-Less time on you
Hustle culture created more burnout.
What we need to realize is the importance of rest and family time.
As a financial advisor I need to be at my best for the people I serve everyday.
I've learned you can't burn the candle at both ends and still be at your best.
Don't give your kids money alone.
Without knowledge they won't keep the money you give them.
Money is important I'm not going to deny it but knowledge is far more important to make it last.
According to NASDAQ and Harvard Business Review.

@camp_wealth
Love the thought here.
In addition a hybrid- if you know alot about building wealth and health you'll make all lunches for the week on Sunday because cooking can be relaxing and you know you can hit your health goals without having to think about lunch the entire week.
@imericrife
Better than nothing but a lot of people are in for a rude awakening when large caps start underperforming.
Plus even a diversified portfolio isn't a plan
529s are not a scam
401ks are not a scam
Life insurance is not a scam
All of these are tools that can benefit your situation if used correctly.
If someone thinks they are a scam please let me know in the comments below and I'd be happy to have a conversation.
If I have VOO why do I need you?
I've seen statements like these all over social media.
If you want to just buy VOO and be done with the whole process then great I wish you well.
But there is much more to making the
@unusual_whales
Surprised more states aren't taking advantage of tax revenue on this.
The issue is that being legal - it's cheaper to buy from anyone other than the dispensaries
@unusual_whales
Yeah that makes sense people locked in low rates and don't want to move.
Housing to stay stagnant unless something tragic happens
There is not enough new construction to meet demand
Greatest thing in my life and
My wife had to talk me into it
I was worried about having kids
• The money
• The time
• What about work and success
• What about all the things I set out to do – I wasn’t done yet.
• The loss of sleep
But we were having a baby
Whatever I
Where are all your passwords?
Now how would your spouse find them if you couldn't tell them yourself?
Tough to think about - sure but I have a friend who started going through this a week ago when her husband passed away.
They had papers all over the place.
No central place
@unusual_whales
Renting is better than owning in many cases.
There are a lot of additional costs to owning aside from just the mortgage that most people are never taught until they experience it.
Just crossed over 700 on Twitter this morning
I've had an account for ages but only started taking this platform seriously in September of 2023.
After talking with so many of you for these past few months I wish I had starting writing here sooner.
Thank you for your engagement
@unusual_whales
Thats really unfortunate I think the real problem is income is just not high enough for most relative to cost of living even if you're smart about your money
Life insurance
It's not something we want to think about
But we can reduce worry by including it in our plans.
If you have a family think about this.
-What income do you need to replace
-For how many years
-What do you want to fund - school or pay off your mortgage?
Woman I met inherited $2 million.
She then invested her money in an annuity.
She was told she could take out 7% per year.
Let's call her Rachael.
This happened ages ago and I met Rachael after the decision had been made.
Rachael didn't like the advisor at first but ended up
How to start of 2024 in the best way:
7 things you can focus on to start the year strong and have a plan to knock 2024 out of the park.
1. Know your cash flow
2. Make sure you get that 401k match - Free Money
3. If you have debt know how/when it will be paid off.
4. Build tax
Is your CPA robbing you?
Why would you have to pay gift taxes on a gift when the gift limit is so high?
This couple was gifted $53k for a house from their father in law.
Now the father in law is grumbling about having to pay gift tax.
As the poster states you have an
Financial planning is

Everyone is different and the stratagies applied should be something that makes sense to you and your family.
@unusual_whales
Sadly I've seen this be a reality even at my much smaller dataset level.
All we can do is prioritize ourselves, make a plan and execute on building a life without worrying about the rest.
Help others along the way if you can but put the oxygen mask on yourself first just like
How many things haven't you done
Because you didn't have a plan
I realized even with my own life
That you can do even more than you thought possible
Because you layed out the steps and habits to live how you want
Then executed daily
@I_Am_GKennedy
This is an interesting question - I'd say mostly AI generated standard stuff with truly creative people standing out from the crowd - kinda sounds like today already but I don't see it deviating that much.
How do you get wealthy in 5 easy steps.
You won't like the answer.
Sure I could list 5 things that you could do to improve your life and they certainly could set you on the path to building wealth but...
Everyone's situation is different.
The tough part about giving financial
Your wealthy on paper but you still feel cash poor.
It says millionaire on your net worth statement but you feel like you're living paycheck to paycheck.
You're not alone and here's a case study with 4 ways to turn that around.
I've worked with a few people lately who have
I met with a person who had 10 whole life policies.
The purpose was to "hide parent assets from college reporting"
For this client that didn't work.
The ended up with expensive life insurance they didn't need.
And no additional benefits for college for their son.
They had
47% of Americans Can't Handle a $500 Emergency Without Worry
According to a study by Empower in 2022 and yet we all see
People with new

- Toys (Like the latest phone)
- Bigger houses
While new and bigger things are great and I'm not suggesting you don't get what you
@unusual_whales
I would still get an accountant but even if this was available I wonder if
A) will they have free and paid tiers and
B) How well can you trust the government on launch of anything.
I see people spending more time planning one vacation
Than they do to create their ideal life
The truth is you can live life today and take care of tomorrow you just need a plan
Patience is the hardest thing to have when you need it.
Creating your ideal life takes time and it feels like it takes too long to get to where you want to be.
Most of the time we aren't giving ourselves the right timeframe for success.
Creating your ideal life...
Are you focused on price or cost?
It looks like everyone focuses on

Charge companies to use cookies?
Tracking isn't going anywhere its just a matter of how tracking is implemented.
@DecadeInvestor
Social media shows off a lot of people who look rich but under the hood are broke or in debt.
$200k invested is better than a majority of people in their 60's
@unusual_whales
Well people went through an incredibly traumatic time over the past couple years.
Prices have increased dramatically.
Work from home is being rejected at a ridiculous rate.
All we can do is focus on bettering ourselves and make 1% improvements each day
@unusual_whales
Surprising this still needs to be addressed.
So many people drink alcohol which can reduce performance far worse than many other substances - at least from what I've seen
60% of millionaires don't have a will.
Yet 70% of millionaires are worried about leaving ‘too much’ to their kids.
These stats are from various studies and surveys.
Interesting to think that a big concern for millionaires could be alleviated with just a little planning.
If
Ever argue about money?
Anyone who's ever been in a relationship can relate to this.
I guarantee you'll laugh at this video at the very least.
You try your best to communicate.
But for some reason you just can't see eye to eye.
It's especially challenging when it comes to
Should I use my 401k to buy a home without a mortgage for retirement?
A couple asked me this recently - problem vs. solution for this couple.
Times have changed and that means we need to change our approach.
They thought it was better not to have a mortgage in retirement as
If you think money can't buy happiness.
Then you haven't given enough of it away.
I've always loved this saying.
When you think of growth and increasing your wealth.
You can do more for yourself and others over time if you build up what you have.
And give generously after
I spoke with a woman who brings in $1,000,000 in revenue per client.
She only takes on two clients per year.
Can retire if she wants to.
Has incredible margins as a solo owner without an office.
Lives in the same city as her adult children.
Works because she enjoys the work.
"I hate having cash I should be investing this."
I've heard plenty of people say something like this.
The thing is cash can be powerful if used correctly.
-You lose your job.
-Big medical bill comes out of nowhere.
-Unexpected house expense.
-You're retired and want some
Even millionaires need to start with the basics.
1. Understand Cash flow
2. Have an estate plan in place
3. Choose the right insurance
4. Reduce taxes wherever possible.
5. Make a plan to
-Have and emergency fund
-Decide what to spend
-How to invest
-What goals
@Smartnetworth1
Work to be an effective translator of your ideas rather than win a discussion/argument - especially if you're better with money.
You don't want to live with a defeated spouse - just bring them up to your level so you can work and grow together.
@KobeissiLetter
Plenty of times throughout history the markets don't seem to make sense.
They are irrational at times and we try to make sense of them in the present.
Instead we should make decades long plans and really forget the year to year.
Budgeting is a dirty word.
No one wants to do it and thankfully now you don't have to.
With Mint shutting down people are looking for alternatives to tracking their spending.
Who wants to spend their free time tracking how much they ate at Chipotle last month.
Here's
Here's how I'm teaching my kids about money.
Even though they really don't understand it yet.
So simple a 5 year old can understand it.
So my kids wanted more bath toys.
My daughter wants a dolphin and my son wants a shark.
I could have said it's not your birthday or

How full is your life with memories? You're memory bank.
Is it full, over flowing or something else?
