I think the fact that Gojo's argument against Yuta being executed was not "He's powerful" and instead was "He's sixteen years old" is very telling about his character.

MEGUMI FUSHIGURO WHAT WILL YOU DO?!
i hc that regardless of who sukunas talking too he never changes his tone and addresses them like an adult. it doesn’t matter if you’re a baby or a cat you’re getting a proper conversation
Since TCB official translations are out I'm gonna talk about what this panel meant to me because some of the most craziest takes came from it and it's 😭😭
🧵🧵🧵
Early jjk fandom when season 1 was all we had was so funny because I remember someone on Tumblr once said Sukuna lied down in his domain and started dozing off until Mahito touched his soul and he hastily climbed back up on his throne to look dramatic 😭

Sukuna: okay, it's fine
Uraume: forgive me
Sukuna: you're very much forgiven.

Sukuna: N O.
It's honestly insane how some people blame Gojo for this and make Geto out to be this "aur nooo no one's helping me :(( no one noticed no one said daijobu" when the whole concept of their relationship in the end was YOU CAN'T SAVE SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO BE SAVED.
It's really disturbing how some of ya'll turned on the children doing everything they can to preserve the world and not let everyone else die to a horrific monster as cunts because "the only person who cared was Geto".
Gojo made a point to argue with the higher ups to study Rika and see what would happen. He could've damn well chosen to say "well the kid is powerful so we should keep him alive", but instead he just said that Yuta was a child. Therefore saying that the idea of executing him-
-was absolutely ridiculous. The higher ups even tried to justify Yuta's execution with "it's okay he wants it" but even then Gojo argued until he got what he wanted.
This is why I will never understand people who refuse to see the good in Gojo and get insecure when people bring up his kindness. Yes, Gojo is selfish. Yes, it's said that he brought in some of the students for selfish reasons, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care.
I always thought the "Shoko is emotionless", "She doesn't care that much about Geto and Gojo" takes were wrong and I'm glad the anime made that apparent! she cared a lot, and it's evident. I'm glad these extra scenes are here because it gives her whole "I was there too" speech-
"Gojo needed strong allies" and "Gojo didn't want the youth to lose their childhood and genuinely cares for his students" is the way he was written. You can't have one without the other.
1. Megumi is the child of the man who killed his friend, and him
2. Gojo was not obligated to take in said child.
BUT HE DID. While Geto leaving influenced him in some ways, that doesn't mean Gojo didn't have feelings or a moral compass of his own.
The nuance in Sukuna's character is that yes he's a villain, yes he's a cannibal, yes he's the worst™, but he's also a guy that's very insightful about Jujutsu, honourable when he deems someone worthy of respect, and admirable in terms of determination.
This applies to not only Yuta, but MEGUMI as well. Sure, Gojo took Megumi in for a selfish reason, and he did after Geto left him. But here's the thing: people using that as a "gotcha!" to say "see he doesn't care about Megumi" is stupid considering two things:
No because?? Yuta hate is so unjustified it sucks what he had to do and I don't like this conclusion at all but he literally did out of desperation. He took on Gojo's burden he's cared for him since the very beginning.
We've seen that plenty of times in Hidden Inventory. Gojo rebelled against the higher ups BEFORE Yuuji by saying "we'll fight Tengen if Riko doesn't want to go through with the merger" (which was his fucking plan btw and Geto only agreed to it), and he protected her-
So people who make Gojo this emotionless, cold or "unable to think unless Geto tells me what to do 🥺🥺" character are completely wrong and definitely do not like Gojo because if they did, they would speak about him more accurately 💀
And everyone else during the entire thing. Not only that, but he made sure to make her go to Tengen with wonderful memories by prolonging her time in Okinawa. AGAIN, it was his fucking idea.
But back to Megumi, if Gojo didn't care about Megumi and only took him in for selfish reasons, mind you even if Megumi never asked to keep Yuuji alive, Gojo STILL would've never had Yuuji executed.
"wants to keep Kugisaki's seat empty"
ya'll shut the fuck up you mean to tell me the chair analogy which Nobara made up where she had special seats for the people she loved in her heart is the same analogy Yuuji using NOW but he's keeping her seat EMPTY?
Because his whole thing is about protecting the youth!! And letting them enjoy their childhood!! But what showed his care for Megumi and his feelings was the moment he asked him HIS opinion on keeping Yuuji alive.
