Wish I could tell the student who accidentally submitted the wrong file and wrote me, “I am so profoundly sorry. I understand if you dock marks. My sincerest apologies” that some of their peers email me at 4 a.m. saying “hey sir,can I hand in in 2 week?” And that I reply “Sure.”

I was in so much student debt, I obsessively tracked all my spending for a decade. It not only took money, it took up much of my thoughts, and despite (& because of) the effort put to pay mine off, I’d choose in a heartbeat that everyone’s be erased.
