As a white guy watching Get Out on opening night with a theater full of black people. It was tremendously awkward and almost painful at times but the catharsis of that final act was amazing.

Isn't that like 14 films? I have to go with either Francis Ford Coppola or Sidney Lumet. Godfather, The Conversation, Godfather II, and Apocalypse Now, or Murder on the Orient Express, Dog Day Afternoon, and Network.

If you can, see Won’t You Be My Neighbor. If you can’t, add it to your watchlist. It is so rich and warm. It is like getting a big tear-filled hug from a friend you haven’t seen in years. I hope it can teach us a bit about what it means to be a good neighbor.

Wow, I must have missed my angry Calvinist memo this morning, or maybe I just remembered to take my Zoloft. No worries, we will be angry about something else tomorrow.

A5: Most of you have probably already seen it, but if not, check out Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son about His Father (2008). Bring tissues for this unique true crime drama.

We have Mel Gibson to thank for the MCU.

was un-insurable after his previous issues and it wasn't until Mel Gibson personally underwrote Downey’s liability insurance for 2003's Singing Detective that his career got back on the right path and led us to Iron Man.

No, the fix didn’t help. I had tried that already. But I just tried again an hour or so ago and it was working. There must have been some kind of outage on their end.

A3: I want to see a historical documentary on Art and Christianity. Christians used to be on the cutting edge of art in the Renaissance but now most of what we think of as Christian art is derivative and mediocre at best.

How is Jaws not getting more love? It was the first movie I thought of. It changed the whole landscape when it comes to blockbusters.

Those numbers stood for I. Love. You. There’s no way I could lose that much weight so I’m shooting for We. Love. You.

A4: I definitely think that Documentaries can be on an equal playing field with fiction. It is going to take some pioneering film-makers with topics that catch public attention, emotion, and affection.

I’m just feeling the need right now to declare that I’m better than everyone else. So I think I’m going to condemn and criticize other people to make myself look and feel better instead of praying for or actually doing anything to support those that might need help.

The last doc I watched was last year's Faces Places (Visages Villages) by Agnes Varda. It was fantastic. I was very surprised that it did not take home the Oscar.

Great insight!
Right now would be the perfect time for all the other personal injury attorneys in St. Louis to distance themselves from the actions of Mark and Patricia McCloskey (forevermore to be known as Ken and Karen). Oh, that's right poor people can't afford lawyers, so they won't.

Thanks! I wonder especially about the change and whether it is rooted in the often counter-cultural nature of modern music and film, or if it could be traced back to the influence the church had over governments of the past.

Any reason why your mobile deposit feature is broken this weekend? I take the pictures and then the screen goes black and it never processes.
@JRParham
That is a tragedy because it's flirting with the top of my list for the year. I was upset that it didn't get a nomination for Best Picture, Cinematography, or Best Director for Sean Baker.

Hoping the Academy recognizes Willem Dafoe, but it deserved more.
