My father sadly passed away at 6.30am this morning.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajioon.
He was a kind and generous man with a calm and loving personality MA.
Before he died, he looked up at the ceiling and smiled. He also had a tear in his eye and dry lips.
This
#exitpoll
speaks of a selfish nation, with no care for the NHS, no concern for the poor or marginalised, no worry that Brexit will destroy the diverse community we live in. I hope it is wrong
#GE2019
Appreciate all the kind messages. I feel really blessed.
My uncle sadly passed away, treating patients with
#covid19
. He was only 48 & joins his brother (my father) on the next journey.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajioon. May Allah swt grant him the highest station in Jannah
Appreciate duas for my uncle, Dr Moyeen Uddin. Cardiologist & Assistant Professor at Sylhet Osmani Medical College.
Currently on life support in Dhaka with covid-19 😔
May Allah swt grant him shifa.
So proud of our eldest, Faaris MA😊
Got A*A*A*A* in his A Levels last week.
(My grades were more like the alphabet 😬🤣)
As a kid, he always wanted to be an inventor. Now he enters the world of engineering IA.
May Allah swt give him success in this world & the next. Ameen
In the Islamic Tradition these are signs of a good death and a hope for a beautiful afterlife. We pray he saw the beautiful face of the Angel of Death and smiled.
Please can you make duas for him as he enters the next journey in his life.
My father, Shofiqul Haque, wasn’t famous, powerful or influential. He was a humble & quiet man.
However, he is my greatest role model and I will strive to be more like him everyday IA🙂
Duas for him.
Just seen this viral photo of a lovely man supporting the Muslims in
#Levenshulme
. He is stood outside Madinah mosque
(Near my surgery)
Thank you sir!
This is the world that I want to see 🙂
10 years lecturing at
@Medicine_UoM
😱
It’s been a beautiful journey & I’ve had the privilege of working with an amazing group of colleagues & students over the years.
If I can do it, it proves that anyone can 👍🏾
I really need the confidence of a 3 year old girl.
Youngest told me off for my poor taste in clothes, when I was getting her dressed. Then chose her own clothes.
I helped her put them on.
She then put on a headband, looked proudly in the mirror at herself,& said “perfect!”
😱🤣
Wise words from my mentor today:
The title or position you hold isn’t important. What is important is that you find a challenge facing society that you are passionate about changing. You then commit yourself to making that difference 🙂
Absolutely shattered 😴😴😴
Started 7.45am. Finished 8pm.
Non stop consults, f2f appts, admin.
GP Partner still at work. She left 9pm yesterday, likely later tonight 😕
We are not taking a break during
#COVID19
!

#OnCallDay
The UK may have chosen an intolerant future, but I will continue as a doctor & educator to embrace diversity, & promote the beauty of our different journeys.
I will continue to fight against privatisation of the
#NHS
, to protect my patients against health poverty.
#GE2019
Overwhelmed by the generosity of patients in surgery today. It was hard to say goodbye to those I’ve known for so long. Continuity & knowing your patients may not be in vogue, but it embodies the centuries old dr-patient relationship.
Last day tomorrow IA. Going to be hard😔
GP is tough at the moment, the hardest in my 15 years in this speciality.
I can’t even imagine what secondary care is like at the moment, or the suffering faced by our patients & their families.
Look after yourselves everyone.
#COVID19
I lost my uncle & friend in 2020. Both were in the prime of their lives, & neither knew their journey was ending. I am proud of the legacy they left behind. Their time here may have been short, but it was filled in serving humanity.
May Allah swt grant them both Jannah
Really proud of our medical students at
@Medicine_UoM
in producing the first ever Manchester Muslim Medical Student Guide MA! Well done
@malihamomo_mm
@AHKafagi_Med
Sara & Aziz, in producing it.
Part of our

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes.
Janazah (funeral service) is today after Jummah at 1.45pm at Shah Jalal Mosque, Rusholme IA. Come by 1.30 as parking busy.
Burial will be after at Southern Cemetery IA
In my first year at university, I was housemates with a student. He was quiet and kept to himself, but we got along. I remember once having a pizza with him in a takeaway, and hearing what he planned to do with his life & his hopes.

Today’s zoom meeting 🤦🏾♂️
Delivered a GPST session on becoming an undergrad tutor.
There was a really engaged trainee on there. They were looking at the camera and smiling. I was so chuffed with this.
After about 30 minutes, I finally realized that it was a photo 👀😬🤦🏾♂️
We will miss your beautiful smile & passion to make a difference for the community. May Allah swt reward you with the highest station in Jannah, and make it easy for your family & friends, Dr Abdulrahman.
I feel so fortunate to have known you during your brief time here 😔
We are sad to report the sudden loss of our Volunteers Lead & Trustee Dr
@a_elbayouk
(26)
Please read our statement in the following thread. May Allah swt grant him the highest station in Jannah.
Abdulrahman will be sorely missed. We will work hard to keep his legacy going IA.
My GP Partner in the next room messaged me to check everything was ok during clinic.
She had heard a lot of shouting.
I told her I was actually having a brilliant consultation with a patient.
Bengali conversations are often lively & loud 😂
#DiversityandInclusion
@DIMAH_UK
Going to miss this brilliant team, as I bow out after 15 years as GP Partner!
Such a supportive bunch working under so much pressure. But always with a positive outlook.
Levenshulme Medical Practice rocks!
The 1st generation
I cannot imagine their courage to get on a plane for the first time, leaving everything that they knew & loved. Replacing familiar village life with a cold, smoke filled industrial world.
My father made that journey.
#JourneysOfEmpire
#SouthAsianHeritageMonth
My dad gave me a lift to medical school, but we got lost on the one way road system. I came to interview late & ended up giving shocking answers to the interview panel. 🤦🏾♂️
17 years after this forgettable day, I was appointed as Clinical Lecturer at the same medical school! 😂👍🏾
My dad was well known for his hospitality. He would ensure that any guests had their fill and more.
We thought this had died with him until the past few weeks.
Everyday, my toddler has made sure I have a hearty meal, and gives me more when I say I am full! Just like dad 😂😀 MA
Privileged to have been at the Janazah of
@a_elbayouk
at
@1BMHC
today.
Powerful memories of him, shared by his brother & close friends.
His example was one of using the life given to him to make a difference.
May Allah swt grant you the best of rewards in Jannah brother.
Fellow GPs & practice staff, look after yourself.
I only work part time at my practice, but am still recovering from two exceptionally long days & so much workload 😱
I hope things improve soon, as the current pressures are not sustainable in the long term

Islamophobic comments from someone who should know better. Reported & blocked.
Very unprofessional comments. I worry for any Muslim that has worked with you.
I feel privileged to know so many people dedicated to levelling the playing field in medicine. Impressed by those who will spare time to support
#WideningParticipation
This concept did not exist when I was a student, & I felt inferior throughout medical school.

Ramadan Mubarak everyone. We are fortunate to see another year.
Duas for those, including my father, whose journey ended before this blessed month returned.
Duas that we make the most of this time, to reflect & cleanse our souls. 🙂
Please make dua for 2 GP friends suffering with
#COVID19
Dr
@supertedmannan
is recovering at home, but Dr Imran Khan has been admitted to ICU.
May Allah swt grant them both shifa 😔
Abdul Mannan’s message is to keep exercising, & take vit d and zinc. This will help fight it.
Final Duas before
#Ramadan
closes for another year.
May Allah swt protect those suffering around the world, particularly those struggling against oppression.

It’s a full Achilles rupture 😱 Darth Vader boot on.
Thanks everyone for your kind wishes these past few, difficult days. It means a lot 😊
I will apologise to ETH as I’m no longer available for the cup final 👀🤣
I always mention my dad’s restaurant, Taj Mahal, when talking about my career journey. Daniel, a junior doctor at my talk, messaged his parents in Wakefield. It turns out they were regulars at our restaurant.😱Our lives are connected in so many ways 😊
August comes around so quickly!
All the best to new doctors, starting their medical journey later this week.
It’s a very challenging time, with the pressures created by the pandemic, but I hope you have a rewarding path ahead. 🙂
21 years for me, & still going 😱
#medtwitter
The level of hate against GPs, especially during a pandemic 😔
I followed
@HarpreetKhara
, but not anymore
Also awful comments by
@ibrownlad
I normally don’t share this kind of info, but really frustrated when we are all on the same team 😕
#TeamGP
A tough afternoon today.
A young patient died suddenly & I had to comfort their grieving partner in surgery.
I have known both for years, and the sense of loss was palpable.
It is a privilege to be a GP, & an honour to be invited into people’s lives.
#ImAGP
#CBMEYear4
So many suspected
#COVID19
cases seen while on call today.
The shadow of this deadly disease looms over us 😔
We are entering another testing time.
Stay safe everyone.
#teamgp
While waiting for taraweeh tonight, was sat next to an older Bengali gentleman for 10 mins. We then looked at each other at the same time. It was my father in law 😱😬🤣
Patient recently in hospital. Admitting doctor recognises my name on referral letter. Tells patient they remember me teaching them at medical school.
I feel👴🏾
This is not how I imagined the UK would become, when I was growing up.
Institutional racism & inequality remain strong, cheered on by a country moving further to the right.
We are living in intolerant times, and need to move back from the edge.😕
Please pray for those suffering in the Sylhet floods. This is my village in Sunamganj (Nadampur), completely immersed in water. AH we were able to get food across to villagers, but the place is devastated.
#Sylhet
Just been sent this photo by an old family friend, of my dad in 1973. Never seen it before.
He was living in Bradford at the time, just before he went back to Bangladesh for a few years.
The first generation had a style & grace about them 😊
@SAHM_UK
Please could you make duas for my maternal aunt. Sadly just passed away in Philadelphia. Was only 64 yo.
May Allah swt grant her the highest Jannah. She died with the shahada on her lips 😔
So proud to see former students thrive as doctors. I taught Dr Rizwana many years ago, and she was a WP Fellow as well. She is now an academic GPST & dipping her toes in medical education. Excellent teaching at PRIME GPST training session today 👍🏾 🇧🇩
#UoMCBME
Back in GP tomorrow.
#COVID19
has already taken so many of my patients, many I knew so well.
Really fearful for the next few weeks. The government has undermined their public health advice, & people are now starting to abandon measures that will keep them safe 😔
#2ndwave
Finally put 🇧🇩 on my twitter handle,
As

Proud of where I came from as a toddler. Even more proud of the contribution this community has made to enriching the UK 🙂

@DIMAH_UK
Zoom bombing is vile. Was on the end of it today.Felt sorry for those who attended the webinar. These thugs started playing porn, swearing & interrupting. I lost control of zoom. Had to close the session. Invaluable session on diabetes for the ethnic minority community stopped😞
The UK is walking into a nightmare- a dangerous bigot in power, with the far right waiting in the wings.
I am scared, very scared for my family’s future here 😔
