Hot take that might get me killed but selling in wrestling is completely overrated compared to bumping for spots and is an accessory to good matches, not a requirement

Alexander Otsuka was just the fucking best. Elite grappling & submission work, Steiner brother level suplexes, giant swings, hurricanranas & insane dives like this. Alexander Otsuka is what Kurt Angle should've tried to be.

Abdullah doesn't get the credit he deserves as one of the great wrestlers because so much critical analysis of wrestling boils down to moves & execution for so many. It was virtually impossible to have a bad match with Abdullah in the 70s & 80s.

The booking of Vader by the WWF was terrible. It was terrible at the time & it's terrible looking back because he still had a ton of value. When you look back at his run it makes it even more frustrating because there are some good to excellent matches in that run. Recs to follow

By this logic McDonalds is the best hamburger in the world & Starbucks makes the best coffee. Sylvester Stallone & Arnold were better actors than Philip Seymour Hoffman. I can't imagine being so captured by capitalism to think this way. What a hellish way to exist.

I know there is a lot of discussion about the “best in the world” in rasslin. But, the best wrestler in the world is the one who generates the most revenue. This isn’t baseball. We can’t compare objective stats like stolen bases or home runs. $ is the metric in business.
