@ob_cycler The same reason there are 6 lanes for cars in a residential area. Cars get race tracks where probability of damaging a vehicle while speeding is 1%. Bikes get death traps where probability of being killed by a speeding vehicle is 10%.

@bellachu10 I just read that article. Horrific. Not only should she be barred from driving pending trial (no different than any other form of detention), the residential streets that let her reach those speeds need to be immediately modified to include speed bumps at a minimum.

@CNNPolitics It does not enhance ballot security. Checking ballot signatures against registration signatures is ballot security step one. Checking registration roles for one ballot submitter only is step two. Both are already done. This ploy is voter suppression, nothing else.

@Boenau Even motorcycle helmets do not protect motorcyclists from head trauma when struck by a motor vehicle. They reduce the risk of head trauma when striking the pavement after being thrown from a vehicle. No manufacturer has ever said otherwise. People are apparently misinformed.

@greenpatchgrp @antipandemonium @SeanTrende Warehouse space, rail capacity, trucking capacity bottlenecks are limiting. All those labor pools have plenty of legal immigrants in their pipelines. Many positions require training, certificates, licenses, which take time. Ports are very mechanized these days with lots of tech.

Put on hazards, come to a stop in lanes, let passenger out, and then move on. Safer for everyone.

@MollyJongFast Win state legislature elections to fix this. Those campaigns are cheaper. States make election law, draw districts, and make 90% of most other law. The Rs started that strategy in 1992. It has been successful. Learn from it.

@maxdubler If we ticketed speeding and failure to stop or yield with cameras on all streets and intersections, we'd all learn to drive a lot safer, and have many fewer interactions with gun-carrying police authorized to use lethal force when they believe it necessary. Safer society overall.

@Boenau We tried to squeeze in a bike lane without slowing cars. It didn't work. Therefore, bike lanes don't work. Because we would NEVER even THINK of SLOWING down cars. Not a feasible option, to increase car trip times. Don't point to Paris. They're French. Not like New Orleans.
