Another day of record breaking warmth across SK today, with a new January maximum temperature record being set for the province! Maple Creek reached a high of 21C breaking the old record of 19C from 2003. This is the 3rd day straight of record breaking temperatures

In fact, Uranium City, in far northern Saskatchewan, tied an all-time cold record this morning, at a bone-chilling -48.9 degrees.
This same temperature has been recorded there once before, on January 15, 1974.

Last night and this morning there was a fairly rare area of lake-effect cloud and snow off Lake Diefenbaker. The lake is narrow, so the wind direction has to be perfect to produce snow.
