The board pres of the TX Democracy Foundation, which publishes @TexasObserver , released a statement minutes ago saying the board unanimously voted to rescind layoffs after staff raised $290k+ in 2 days. Laura Hernandez Holmes also said she was resigning from her role on Friday.

This is my first piece of tangible work for my internship @TPRNews and it highlights a big problem in Bexar County: Even though black people only make up 9% of all cases and 8.5% of the county's pop., they represent 21% of all deaths. They are being hugely overrepresented here.

SAPD shot an apparent disproportionate number of Black residents between 2016-2022. The data don't prove discrimination on their own, but do raise fair questions. I spoke with community members about what they think should be done to reduce shootings.

San Antonio has reached 881 COVID-19 hospitalizations, up 79 - the highest single-day increase so far. The last record increase was 6 days ago, with 72. There are also 274 people in the ICU and 154 people on ventilators, both increases. @TPRNews
