Whilst these results are disheartening, they are not out of place among the results of other universal interventions. Schools will always have a large part to play in adolescent m/h and intervention, but perhaps our approach needs to shift to be more targeted/indirect/peer led?

Uniquely, in our study we also mapped a subset of the schools' social networks and computed measures of social connectedness (i.e., how well liked a student is; a m/h risk factor), but found that this did not relate to m/h symptoms, and did not have an effect on the intervention.
