The Saskatchewan Government doesn’t get to force me to out any of my students to their parents. It’s not my story to tell. I fully understand why some kids are afraid to tell their parents who they are— especially if their parents are devout Christians. 7/x
My siblings and I were raised in a devout Catholic family. We were the family that had the priest over for supper, and my brother and I missed school to alter serve at funerals. My sister spent 13 years trapped in a marriage trying to be straight. 1/x

My Canadian kids wouldn’t have known to get to their belly and crawl. They’ve never had a need to learn this. This is not a normal way to live. Other countries aren’t like this.
My parents have walked away from the Catholic Church. My mom chose her daughter over the church. She has no regrets. My sister spent most of her life protecting our family from her truth. 6/x

This is a warning about women’s healthcare rights under a Poilievre as PM.

Just saying.
I’ve been an educator for 24 years. I’ve never met a furry, nor seen a litter box in a school. I’ve never seen pornography in a school library. NONE of this is happening. Please, tell me, with some parents so far from reality, who will opt to teach in the future?

My grandma was 80 when she told me she thought God was okay with gay people. He made gay people, so He must love them. I encouraged my sister to tell our grandma, but she never did, and my grandma died later that year. I never told her, it wasn’t my story to tell.

We took my sister into our home and tried to help her get sober. She stumbled many times before she finally hit rock bottom and “came out of the closet.” She was worried about hurting our grandma and our parents, all devout Catholics. 3/x
She drank to cope and cover her pain. One day my brother-in-law asked me to go for coffee and he told me about the extent of her drinking. She’d be fired for being drunk on the job. She was a mess. He asked me for help, not knowing what was wrong. 2/x
She never did come out to our grandma, because she didn’t want to hurt her. She thought our grandma would worry for her mortal soul, and my sister wanted to spare her that. 4/x
Welp, finally came out to my parents today. Went about as expected. Disowned on the spot, no hesitation, their primitive minds only mustering slurs and threats. This is exactly why I always kept it from them. But alas, I was backed into a corner, and I snapped.

1.) do we want to live life under the rule of Christian theocracy?
2.) Or, do we want to have a government that doesn’t distract and divide us by starting culture wars?
A family member just shared this w/ me :
Queer kids in high school are feeling apprehensive and kind of scared. Other kids are feeling emboldened and like they don’t have to respect queer kids, b/c what are teachers going to do?
@PremierScottMoe
this is the Sk you’re creating.
Poilievre’s spending on travel far exceeds every elected MP, including the PM, and we the tax payer are footing the bill. All this while PP claims to be about reigning in wasteful spending. Every conservative accusation is a confession.
“Pierre Poilivere has spent over $1.2 million dollars of taxpayers money in 3 months….” And does nothing! Pierre & his caucus also get free pharmacare on the back of taxpayers but won’t support pharmacare plan for Canadians who can’t afford prescription medication!!

Why so much hate and vitriol?
She didn’t tell anyone she was gay. So no one could have helped her by telling her secret. Society has done some of the work to destigmatize being queer, but we have more work to do. Understanding the harms that come from shaming is one step.

Just a reminder that the carbon tax increase is not just a bad April Fool’s joke from the Trudeau-NDP government this year.
It will continue to increase every April 1 until 2030, when it will be more than double what it is today.
Unless the government changes.
Ok, let’s talk about this whopper of a lie.
The Sask Party is NOT bargaining. They’ve sent in the elected school board officials with a take-it-or-leave-it salary offer. The government bargaining team has NO mandate to bargain.
1/x
The best deals are negotiated at the bargaining table.
Your Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee (GTBC) remains at the table ready to negotiate.
Let's get back to working on a fair deal for teachers.
In two decades, how have things changed in SK k-12 public ed? 🧵
My 3 boys range in age from 14 to 31, and I’ve taught for 23 years. I have some insights.

I’m really sad and disappointed. The Sask Party does NOT have a mandate to privatize our education system, but that’s exactly what they’re doing. They’ve shifted public dollars into private schools, allowing them to operate with 80% of funding covered by tax dollars… 1/x
