"Survival" by Ingush artist Murat Polonkoev; one of the most respected and honored artists. He was a student of Andrei Mylnikov, and many of his works are kept in the museum of the Academy of Arts of Russia. Sadly, many of his works were destroyed during the wars in Grozny.

Ingush had many types of headdresses throughout history, but the Papakha was and still remains the hat that's suitable for all occasions. There was also a festive hat with a trimmed top made of lamb skin. Because of these hats, the Georgians called the Ingush "high hats."

The word Papakha is presumably, Azerbaijani, in translation - "hat". It was worn by all mountaineers, residents of Transcaucasia, Russians, Cossacks, and later and still today, a hat - an element of the uniform of senior officers of the Russian army.
