Super excited to join the Genome and Biomarker Sciences (GBx) unit at Merck from March!
I am especially excited to work with human geneticists to leverage human genetics for drug discovery.

Does he understand the difference between parliamentary democracy ala UK/Canada/India/Israel/Germany and a presidential system that the US has? How does he think a 3rd party would ever be successful? and tangible answers not hand-wavy answers...
me (a big-brained R1 PI) (IRL): became famous for a CNS paper, gave pop-sci talks, advises (in person) trainee to work with Nobel Laureates
me (on Twitter): CNS doesn’t matter
phew, eventful day in the Jha-Mishra household. First day of daycare & my Green Card approval after an excruciating wait of 3+ years.
Pro-tip: write to your Senators to get the faster status updates from the USCIS. Thanks Sen. Markey!

that international postdocs are not paid the NIH minimum at all institutions & in all labs... but here it is 👇🏽 have heard some version of this from var. people
After nearly 20 years, I am celebrating Diwali & this festive season with my family… can’t quite put into words how thankful I am after the horrid few years that we have had.

this was gonna be my next… all incubation times in westerns are a suggestion. You can increase/decrease it per your convenience & life outside of lab. 🤣

for everyone who rails against capitalism & market-based economy, here is an example. Yes, we have lots of work to do, it’s still unfair. But boy, the alternative is extremely undesirable.
he fucking gets it… he has lost family to the Holocaust, don’t take it too lightly.
If you are *pretending* to be on the left of Bernie Fucking Sanders who is one of the harshest anti-Bibi/anti-Israeli right-wing critic out there, you are just grandstanding w/ no stake in it.

"I don't know how you can have a permanent cease fire with an organization like Hamas, which is dedicated to turmoil and chaos and destroying the state of Israel.
HAMAS HAS GOT TO GO”

deep problems... many such reports. See Evergrande's condition.
If govts force economic activities, it can have many unintended consequences. The skyline may look nice but the defaults are uglier. Let the market work.
this directly shows you that politicians have zero understanding of what the NIH does & what biopharma does…
what a shame… an incredibly, well-qualified nominee
We need a NIH Director who will take on Big Pharma & work aggressively to lower drug prices.
While I believe that Dr. Bertagnolli is highly qualified to serve in this role, I'm not convinced she'll take on Big Pharma — and for that reason I will vote against her confirmation.
Cool paper! 1) 1st author papers from grad school are mildly predictive. Higher the IF, the better. 2) not having 1st author paper from grad school is strongly predictive (negatively). 3) Middle author papers doesn’t matter, mildly detri. 🤷🏽♂️😂
Everyone should read this article…
Does it spark joy may seem facetious when clubbed with it’s just a job sentiment, but given the unique challenges, & somewhat lonely journey, the question assumes immense significance.
me (looking at my data): I am very, very confused. wtf is going on?
wife: I really want you to get the bloody paper out. So, I can stop hearing about this confusion of yours.
tbh, restricting references is one of the stupidest rules: 1) instills bad scholarly habits in trainees 2) increases reliance on reviews than primary papers and 3) results in situations like these.
I have yet to hear a cogent argument in favor of arbitrarily restricting refs.

@naturemethods
Update: I’ve heard from the corresponding author who says she was aware of our paper and referenced it in reviewed paper, but was asked to cut references post review. I think it still belongs in the 50 references.

Here you go: solve the impossible migration crisis compounded by economic problems, climate change, law & order, & while you are at it, make sure to tell them that America doesn’t welcome immigrants anymore
so, the Texas governor got a booster shot, has Covid, & is on the monoclonal Abs. Dude is really scared about himself. Too bad he doesn’t extend the same concern for Texas residents & kids.
@ettingermentum
this is a great summary of what he did in biopharma…
Use his connections on Wall Street-> hoodwink investors by hyping failed drugs-> cash out.
@DrewSav
So this is what you do. You buy patents for failed drugs from Pfizer and Merck. You create a lot of hype and raise 300 million. You cash out before the bubble pops.
Alternatively, you can create a fake biotech and get bought out by Pfizer if you're willing to settle for 5 mil.
@VPrasadMDMPH
this is pretty convoluted 😉. A simpler schematics exist:
a) Create election fraud conspiracy theories. b) Fill election offices with hyper-partisan conspiracy theory peddlers (see Georgia, Arizona & other states since last year). c) Have a compliant congress filled with MTGs 1/2
We all need to be thinking compassionately and supportively of all of the Jewish, Arab and Muslim students, faculty and staff at our universities, as we all face the horrible violence of the past week and the ongoing violence for the past several decades. 1/n

look I have a new job, I need to list all the reasons why it’s not something that I want but I am taking it anyways because I have merged my identity with my dreams & now my dreams are shattered. Also, the system sucks because I couldn’t get a job. 😏

started the agarose gel-> come back to find nothing in it-> realize ran the gel in the opposite direction (now mumble “black to black and red to red” after setting up every gel)
