I hate that I'm going to say this, but America has never given a single fuck about kids. As a child, I saw multiple people die in gun violence. The first when I was like, 4-5 maybe? The second maybe I was around 7. These weren't school shootings but in parks and playgrounds.

Quarantine sucks. You know what didn't suck? Being able to link up with all the amazing people I got to meet at Gen Con. Certainly unfortunate to catch an extremely infectious virus that is hard to avoid without ever doing anything around other people. But I don't regret going.
