@Beatriz_efe Esto es un ejemplo perfecto de lo que pasa en UK con la percepción de clase. Los ricos que trabajaban y eran no aristócratas se empezaron a identificar como working class para diferenciarse. A día de hoy un 1/4 de los que ganan +£100.000 se identifican como “clase trabajadora”.

@michelledonelan Student here. We've been paying the price of the active deterioration of working conditions in HE. Strikes are a forced response to that. They're caring about us more than their bosses or the ministry. We're also paying high gatekeeping fees that your generation didn't have.

@KKCheng4 @soundcube It's depressing. The terminology in the UK has been deliberately negative towards interventions. It'd be more accurate to call them protection measures, not restrictions. Good masks and ventilation are effective ones and don't reduce freedom, they give it. Hubris kills.

Still some good examples, like Ikea and the Industrial Engineering School in Málaga. Maybe I'm missing some drawbacks, but imagine if there were panels over most parking spots...

@laurenancona We really need to be aware of all the biases in society towards everyone to reduce the diagnosis gaps. Masking or not, women are much less believed by doctors of any gender. Even less if we're not white and cis. As children we're not assessed, and as adults we're dismissed.

It's not rare that parents try to 'prepare us for the real world' from early age, so we're not 'too sensitive', 'too know-it-all', 'too happy', 'too serious', etc. The lesson basically is 'don't be you when you are with others'. 😞

@ItsEmilyKaty Yes, and research on noise annoyance has often dismissed this sensitivity as 'histrionic' and not relevant. :( There's also tinnitus and aural hallucinations, which are more common than we think bc brains tricks us all the time (like hearing your phone ring/notification).

@elsalwilliams This story represents really well how autistic men feel more entitled and are allowed by social expectations and gender roles to just spend time in special interests without being disturbed, as someone highlighted in a talk. And the different in treatment starts in childhood.

@bluedwagon @ItsEmilyKaty Sometimes they add more sugar for conservation so just careful with that. :) I eat so much more fruit when I can do a shake, especially with some yogurt, and the plus is that you can add a bit of cocoa or carob flour with the banana and pear and it's 👌 or smooth oats too.

@sbaroncohen But does autism really mean any of those other things? Why not working on being scientifically specific so everyone, espec more vulnerable, gets research and support needed instead of ideating qualifying adjectives for autism itself that can end in broad, stigmatising hierarchy?

A Lebanese friend told me 20 years ago about how Israel put bombs inside plush toys and left them under bridges so they could use children to activate them. He also remembered the effect of the vacuum bombs they used in his town. But Israel kept being the good guy.

Still some good examples, like Ikea and the Industrial Engineering School in Málaga. Maybe I'm missing some drawbacks, but imagine if there were panels over most parking spots...

@medicblasto En muchos grupos de enfermos, especialmente los crónicos, aprecian muchísimo cuando la persona que los atiende se pone a investigar en vez de decir lo primero que piensan. Ojalá más profesionales, de lo que sea, reconociendo que nadie lo sabe todo y queriendo aprender.
