One year to this rainy morning in Mussoorie. Standing outside LBSNAA entry: completely clueless, totally excited, and very grateful (just like hundreds every year haha).
Still clueless, still excited, and still grateful.
Taitung to Hualien via the scenic East Rift Valley of Taiwan (or as how I will put it years later: Before the back started hurting I could cycle hundred kms in a day)
Me after 200 kms of cycling through rain, wind, and shine along the Pacific: What we know is a drop, what we don’t know is (all the weather phenomena related to) an ocean
In all the years I have lived away from home, I’ve always longed for the masala chai that my father makes. He grinds the masala in proportions only he knows best and today after making myself a cup of chai with the masala he sent in my cargo, I’m worried I didn’t ask for enough

Side note: still lament that I lent my copy of Bitter Fruit by Manto, never got it back :(
Sunday evening spent buying flowers and groceries, extensive meal prepping, doing the resultant dishes; all done while listening to Dan Carlin’s podcast. How do you do, fellow adults? :/
What is this even...has it ever happened that you have been admonished for eating with your left hand? 🤔 I have always eaten with whatever hand I find comfortable (currently eating an apple with left and doomscrolling with right)
Day 10/14 of quarantine
Parents: how are you doing the dishes, you got a dishwasher in the house?
Me (prepared with my delivery since day 1): I am the dishwasher
A reminder that kind, talented, and selfless people are all around us, sometimes even on the internet. Thank you for being a paragon of diligence and for your extraordinary work during extraordinary times.

Remembering my ASM days back in 2017 when “aaj RTGS nahi hua” at 4:30 pm would lead to a sigh of figurative resignation; this would 10/10 lead to ease of doing business
RTGS facility becomes operational 24X7 from 12.30 pm tonight. Congratulations to the teams from RBI, IFTAS and the service partners who made this possible.
Exactly one year ago, my 21 months long self-imposed home lockdown ended. The cumulative decades preceding these months hadn’t prepared me for this sort of self-isolation. Before I could realise it, I was talking to (pictured above) walls. Getting stuck is an awful feeling.

This has been my ringtone for almost three years. Tonight as I (finally) get done with its final season, hoping to chance upon something else which delivers just half of the critique on human condition that BoJack Horseman has delivered over last 6 years
“The ban has come as a shock to many in China who have decried India’s “ultra-nationalism“—even though what India is doing mimics tactics used by Beijing for more than a decade to block foreign, and especially American, tech companies“
If you think you are privileged during these unparalleled times, do help in whatever way possible for you. This virus might not have touched your life (and I hope it never does) but there’s a crucial lesson in empathy that this virus and isolation is going to teach us all.

My first movie in Amba was Bodyguard. Bunch of kids ran up to dance in front of the screen during Salman Khan entry and a fight broke out over seats leading to police entering the theatre. Amba was an unparalleled 10/10 experience
Irrespective of where you’re stuck during this lockdown, idea of life coming to a screeching halt is agonising. Nonetheless, some of us are going to pick essential life skills we never had the time for. Some are going to catch up on enough sleep to power through this year.

However, beyond the eerie silence that has now descended on our cities (save the bird calls that one has to find apps to recognise), there are millions of people whose lives have been upended due to this pandemic.

At 22, Marcus Hutchins stopped WannaCry, the worst cyberattack the world had ever seen. Three months later, the FBI arrested him. This is the untold story of how he went from an international hero to a convict looking at 10 years in prison:

But that’s because most people’s dominant hand is right? Never have I ever felt the need to turn down a handshake if somebody extended their left hand

You can take a domestic assistant from India or you can throw money (foreign allowance) at your problems. Either way, cross that bridge when you come to it. But if you’re aspiring for Foreign Service, self-sufficiency comes recommended :)

In 2011, general cut off for B Com (H) was divided into five 96-97-98-99-100% different levels depending on what subjects were being used to calculate best of four. A commerce student needed 96% and a science student needed 100%. Always read beyond the headlines :)

1. Up to 120 rank should be safe, but no guarantee given how it depends on service preferences of people ranked above you
2. IAS was never in consideration ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
