Fun fact #1 : Flow addresses from testnet aren't valid on mainnet (and vice-versa). If you accidentally use a testnet address on mainnet, the transaction will revert. Fun fact #2 : That feature just saved our butts as we were testing out a new minting tool for TopShot... 😅

Second: Different keys for different devices. Copying your private key or your seed phrase between devices is always going to be a security hole. Generate a new key on your new device and *add* that to your account. The private key never needs to leave your device.

Finally: Simple recovery mechanisms. Be it social recovery or 24 words in a safe-deposit box, it should be trivial to disable my "hot" keys (used by my daily devices) if I think I'm compromised. And I should be confident I can get back my stuff using my cold recovery mechanism!

1/ You don't need a "utility token" and a blockchain to help incentivize growth. You eo need a product that people care about. The gaming phenomenon Fortnite has an in-game currency called vBucks. It isn't using a blockchain, isn't traded anywhere, and has no speculative value.

@Iiterature You underestimate the resource constraints of blockchains! An Apple IIe was capable of 200k additions per second. The entire Ethereum network can only do about 150k... and has to share that amongst ALL the players! 😳

The term "enshrined rollup" has recently come to refer to embedding a rollup into a protocol (simplifying the user experience and improving security). We call them "Execution Nodes" instead of "Sequencers" (Flow predates that terminology), but it's the same idea.

Let's remember why vanilla sharding lost favour to rollups: Sharding is a pretty significant barrier to composability (the ability for one smart contract to securely, trustlessly build on others). "Eventually consistent" is not a good fit for blockchain!

This problem is hard (Verifier’s Dilemma, anyone?) and our solution hinges on a clever new cryptographic trick we developed called Specialized Proofs of Confidential Knowledge (SPoCKs). It took us over a year to work out the kinks in that system. 😅

Caveat: There are specifics to Dankrad's proposal that are specific to Eth, and I won't touch on those. Also, I don't want to imply that anyone "stole" ideas from anyone else. Researchers working on similar problems come up with similar ideas. This shouldn't be a surprise!

For Eth, they intend to add "blobs" as a new data type to the existing protocol. In Flow, there's a sharded chain embedded in the protocol for the data-availability layer. We call them "Collection Nodes", with each shard being a "Cluster", and the blobs called "Collections".
