We've discovered that an external vendor that helped to create this cutscene mistakenly used this art as a reference, assuming it was official Bungie art.
We have reached out to the artist to apologize for the mix-up and to credit and compensate them for their awesome work.
I just realized Bungie took inspiration from my piece for this week's cutscene. Certainly took me by surprise when I watched the cutscene.

We are currently investigating internally and with our partner. We are in contact with the artist and will share more on what next steps we are taking once we have gathered more information.
This is the first post from our brand-new Destiny 2 Team Twitter account.
We created this account to be able to share more info and clarifications from the Destiny 2 Team on various topics about the live game.
Look for more details about this account in the TWAB.
Lightfall is arriving in less than 24 hours, Guardians. Consider this your reminder to watch out for any spoilers, mute any sensitive terms, and stay vigilant in the trenches of social media.
Calus says so 😤
Hey everyone, if connection issues have blocked you from playing or enjoying The Final Shape today, we want to apologize. We’re hard at work trying to resolve each of these issues as quickly as possible, and many of the connection issues from this morning have already been fixed.
Purchasing a Last Wish Deepsight Weapon from Hawthorne currently awards double progression toward pattern progress. This wasn't intended and will be fixed in a few weeks, but until then go farm and consider this a bank error in your favor.
Sparrows in Multiplex, huh? Life... uh, finds a way, we guess. While not intentional, it looks some PvP folks are enjoying the chaos, so we'll be leaving this bug in for a little longer. Stay tuned to Bungie Help for more updates on timing.
GLHF, go ham!
Earlier today, a portion of Destiny 2: The Final Shape was accidentally pushed live on PS5's streaming service. There are currently spoilers being shared online. (🧵1/6)
Our Security and Legal teams have reviewed irrefutable evidence, including video recordings, verified messages, and images demonstrating a pattern over time that confirm the same individual shared confidential information from Community Summits spanning multiple years.
Community interaction and engagement is central to Bungie and our games. For years, we've invited creators and other members of the community to confidential summits to provide feedback on the future of Destiny. This is a beloved part of the process, but relies heavily on trust.
We've been following feedback that there should be better incentives to stay in Onslaught for the full 50 waves, so teammates don't dip out after wave 10. We're adding two additional weapon rewards to Onslaught and buffing Trophies of Bravery drops to help address this. (1 of 8)
Thanks for your patience during our recent downtime. As of 7am PT today, Destiny 2 has been up and running with all character information restored.
More details on this incident, why it happened, and its resolution in the thread below: 🧵
Today is a difficult day for the Destiny team. Out of respect to our friends and colleagues, and to give our team time to take care of each other, we are cancelling this week's TWID.
Surges will not be active in the Salvation's Edge raid during Contest Mode this weekend. We appreciate everyone's feedback on raid and dungeon difficulty and the impact that the addition of surges has had. No changes planned right now, but the team is aware.
The Lightfall raid will launch on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 9am PST (Pacific Standard Time). Contest mode on the Lightfall raid will be active for 48 hours ending on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 10am PDT (Pacific Daylight Time).
Last night, we solved several critical issues causing poor stability and heavily reduced the amount of "Kick to Orbit" errors as you can see in this graph.
Community interaction and engagement is central to Bungie and our games. For years, we've invited creators and other members of the community to confidential summits to provide feedback on the future of Destiny. This is a beloved part of the process, but relies heavily on trust.
We know that recent changes at Bungie have created uncertainty surrounding the future of Destiny.
Rest assured we remain committed to Destiny, to supporting our community with transparency, and to delivering regular updates about the game.
Hey everyone, we launched Season of the Wish yesterday and have been monitoring the conversation around what you’ve been enjoying and what you haven’t. We’ll start things off with the Starter Pack, which is not something bringing joy.
Which is why we’ve pulled it from stores.
We know those Threshers were a little spicy, but you can do whatever you set your mind to, including not dying to Threshers, with tomorrow's hotfix. Don't let those dreams be dreams.
We've investigated this with our partner NERF. We are currently in contact with the artist to make sure they are compensated and credited for their incredible artwork.
We are currently investigating internally and with our partner. We are in contact with the artist and will share more on what next steps we are taking once we have gathered more information.
We've been monitoring recent impressions around the new Strand Berserker Titan. The team understands the landscape of our Titan supers during development, and has made sure the Strand Titan offers new gameplay opportunities to make it feel fresh compared to previous subclasses.
We are very disappointed to have learned this information and wish that things had gone differently with this person. We do not take these actions lightly, and we are confident in our decision.
This is our final communication on the matter.
We’ve got updates on the rollout for the BRAVE arsenal starting April 9, plus some important callouts to highlight just how much loot you’ll be swimming in during Destiny 2: Into the Light.
For our next Episode, Revenant, each Act's entire story will be available to play as it launches instead of week to week.
Our goal is to give players an opportunity to play at their own pace. We'll be monitoring feedback when these changes go live.
In this week's upcoming patch, we have a fix planned to correct an issue that was causing Touch of Malice and Quicksilver Storm to deal less damage than intended to minor enemies. Red bars will once again live in fear of these Exotics, as nature intended.
Us after the update:
Breaches of this trust could result in our inability to hold more summits. We take these breaches extremely seriously and are taking actions to reinforce our policies with those invited to these internal meetings.
Bad news, there was an error in the Season 21 weapon changes preview article.
Initially it was shared that Worldline Zero's heavy attack damage would be decreased by 25%.
Good news, its heavy attack will be increased by 8.3%.
We’re exploring all potential solutions and keeping an eye out in case things get TOO wild and we need to take drastic measures to ensure the health of the game.
In the meantime, let’s all have some fun! Igneous Hammer will come back to Trials ASAP.
We're aware of an issue that allows specific weapon perks to be crafted into other legendary weapons and are investigating a fix, which will result in these weapons being reset in the future.
We currently don't have any plans to disable Trials of Osiris due to this issue.
This is a tricky one! Our goal is to fix the "illegal" crafted weapons, but we want to do it in a way that doesn't hurt the investment that players have earned with their normal, "legally" crafted weapons. Thanks for your patience while we continue to work on this!
UPDATE: This is a complex issue, and as a result of testing, our original timeline for a server-side fix has been extended. More information will be provided when we have updates.
Ferried from an unknown time and place, a haunting presence has been detected. We must now confront the ancient threat growing at our doorstep.
The Root of Nightmares raid opens on March 10, 2023 at 9am PST. Contest Mode will be enabled for 48 hours.
We've heard your concerns about the Togetherness modifier in The Coil. In Tuesday's update, we will be removing Togetherness from the modifier rotation for the activity, so players will no longer see it as an option going forward.
Hey everyone. We've heard feedback about certain frustrating elements in Breach Executable, and we have a couple of changes planned for next week's update to improve the experience.
@leopardstealth
@NordVPN
Hey, all.
Wanted to give fair warning. This breaks our ToS. We understand the desire to take on more challenging content solo, but manipulating network in an effort to gain any advantage in PvE or PvP can lead to restrictions or bans.
We highly advise against doing this.
Thank you,
@joegoroth
, for everything you've done for Destiny 2 over the years, and for your guidance in making The Final Shape truly special for the Destiny community.
Looking forward to your feedback in next month’s internal playtests!
Next month, The Final Shape will be hitting one of its most critical internal milestones: a ritual we call the End-to-End playtest.
This ritual has been a key part of development since Forsaken.
For those interested in the new "Risen" emblem currently being offered on Bilibili: we plan to make this emblem universal for all players as we get closer to Lunar New Year! We'll share full details as we approach the date.
Guardian Ranks Update: To more closely match our goals, we have reduced the required Commendations score to complete objectives across all Guardian Ranks.
Objective descriptions will be updated on March 16 to display the new Commendations requirements.
Tomorrow, we have a fix deploying for a bug allowing players to vault from an activity without the proper UI or full fireteam support.
However, based on the positive reception for this bug, we’re planning on reverting tomorrow's fix in a January update.
Before we head out for the long weekend, we wanted to let you know that we just issued a fix and Exotic Armor focused from Master Rahool will now drop with high stats in the intended range.
As a reminder, we've also raised the Exotic Cipher cap from 1 to 5!
Happy Friday! We're seeing some convo about weapon changes. We've got a balance pass coming for primary weapons in PvE in the mid-Season patch. That doesn't include nerfing SMGs, which is something we're seeing a lot of talk about.
We'll have more info in the end-of-month TWAB!
We are aware of an armor mod that is unavailable for players who do not own Lightfall or the Season Pass due to certain Guardian Rank requirements. This was not intended and the team is working on removing the Rank requirement as soon as possible.
Based on early player responses, we are replacing Iron Banner Tribute with Iron Banner Control for the rest of the week.
This change will take effect at today at 5:00PM Pacific.
Re: Pathfinder
Planned for Episode II, we're planning to split Pathfinder cards per activity. Crucible, Gambit, and Strikes.
More details soon. Note, these screenshots are from a recent development build. Subject to change, pardon our dust, etc.
Bread!
PvP can be tricky, no matter your skill level.
We've added Crucible rewards to Private Matches to give you a slightly more casual environment to earn Legendary weapons, armor, and even post-game Catalyst rewards.
Invite some friends, adjust some settings, and earn some rewards.
To remember a time when spicy crafted weapon combinations caused chaos, players who were active between Sept 15 - Sept 21 have been sent a special emblem to commemorate this moment in Destiny 2 history.
Find The Craftening emblem under Collections > Flair > Emblems > General.
Good morning! (Well... afternoon, evening, or night wherever you may be located.)
Got any questions for us before the weekend? May not be able to respond to all, but happy to see what's on your minds.
Based on player feedback, we are implementing transmog for both glow and non-glow versions of this year and last year's Solstice armor. This feature will go live with Season 22, so feel free to shine bright like a Guardian and get your glow on if you're interested in both looks💅
We’ve heard you that asking players to go back to the Blind Well as part of the first week’s story is a sore spot. One of our goals here was to make sure players knew from the start that there’s increased difficulty and new loot to earn in this activity.
Enjoying the new Exotic mission? We have a ~ very ~ important message from our narrative team about it: The 'become swole so you can fight me at your strongest' anime boss vibes was absolutely the intention.
Thank you for your time ✋
Our security team is issuing a wave of bans targeting players who have participated in account recovery and boosting activities.
Please never share your account credentials with others. You can read more details on our banning policies here:
Destiny 2 will continue after The Final Shape and the three Episodes announced today.
Over the past five years, we've been driving toward the culmination of the Light & Darkness Saga. It's a crucial moment in the Destiny Universe, but far from the last big story we have to tell.
We see the feedback on Legendary Shard removal regarding glimmer and the prices of focusing. As a part of this change, we will also be increasing drops of glimmer, ritual engrams, Iron Banner engrams, and materials of other kinds across many parts of the game.

First up: we’ve seen the feedback on releasing an additional weapon each week after the first six drop on April 9, and we’re condensing the schedule to release everything by April 30th, rather than May 21st.
We have big plans for Destiny 2's future and are sharing a first look of Codename: Frontiers through a series of articles today.
We'll also be delivering more deep dives on new innovations we have planned. Read more about our vision here:
Hey Guardians, happy Wednesday! Just dropping in a line that the previously teased mid-Season weapon and armor update will be rolling out in tomorrow's TWID. We look forward to hearing what you all think!
In The Final Shape, we’re introducing the Ritual Pathfinder, a new rewards path that will replace Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit bounties and their weekly vendor challenge. While the Pathfinder will replace bounties at these vendors, they will remain unchanged at other vendors.
Hey Guardians, we are putting out a call for any Ability, Armor, Buildcrafting, & Weapons specific questions/feedback you have about the current live game. We've listed the topics below, so be sure to drop feedback or questions under the right topic so we can keep them organized.
We are seeing significant improvements after the recent server restarts. We appreciate everyone's patience while we worked through this major issue. Stay tuned to
@BungieHelp
for updates on other issues we are still monitoring.
This mitigation has been deployed and we are seeing significant recovery from CURRANT error codes. We will continue to closely monitor elevated error code levels, including CABBAGE and WEASEL errors, and provide additional updates as needed.
Players continuing to encounter
🚨Solo and Master dungeon/raid completions not being retroactive for Guardian Rank 11 is not intended! We have a fix for this in our midseason update which is currently scheduled for next week. It will be retroactive, so you won't need to complete the objective again. 🚨
State of the Game tomorrow! I want to sincerely thank a bunch of folks across Bungie for working with me to put this together for the community. While I normally love to help drive these start-to-finish, I've been heads-down with the team making sure The Final Shape is awesome.
Heading off into the weekend with good vibes. We shared a lot of new info this week, deployed some nifty changes; how's everyone feeling about everything talked about this week? Drop that feedback down below, we'd love to hear it!
Or just hit us with those sweet, sweet memes 🫡
This week, we made some changes to the way ADU Batteries work in Onslaught. While looking to fix a bug where Batteries could heal defenses, we decided to keep the healing with a few balance tweaks: we buffed the healing factor and made healing consume the Battery.
For our first post, well second since this is a thread, we would like to start by asking for some feedback from you on what changes you would like to see in Destiny 2.
Comment below with what is at the top of your list, and we will read through your feedback.
It's always extremely difficult when our team's hard work is leaked early, but we are still excited for everyone to experience the full release on June 4 together. (🧵6/6)
We have a meaty TWID for you this week. Expect 6,600+ words tomorrow covering upcoming weapon and ability tuning in Update 7.3.5 coming on March 5, as well as Crucible-specific sandbox changes.
We've been preparing a preview article for the abilities and armor tuning coming in The Final Shape. With so many changes to cover, this was one of the largest articles we've ever written at around 9k words. So, we've decided to split it up. Here is what to expect this week. 1/3
Happy TWIDday, Guardians! We would like to hear from all you PVP players out there on what kinds of changes to the Crucible you would like to see in the future. Whether it’s playlist preferences, matchmaking settings, Trials, Competitive—please post your feedback below ⤵️
This week's Nightfall is getting shaken up a bit! Warden's Law is moving up to this week for 2x rewards.
For the next few weeks of GM planning, here are the rewards to keep an eye out for:
💠Week 4: Warden's Law
💠Week 5: The Swarm
💠Week 6: Pre Astyanax IV
Hey all,
We've noticed reports and observed data that suggests XP earn rates are slower than expected. We're investigating further, but in the meantime, we've enabled a change with Update 8.0.0.6 that increases the total Weekly Rest bonus by 150K XP over its 250K XP base.
Trials players: If you're missing out on The Immortal Adept SMG this week, you'll have one more chance to pick it up in the final week of Trials this Season.
For the base version, check out Rank 10 of Saint-14's reputation track! You can focus it any week after unlocking this.
We'll be talking with you all about the future of Destiny and plans for our next multi-year journey soon. Once we plant a flag for the date, we'll let you all know.
Thank you for your patience, and we'll see you again soon.
Hey Guardians, let's talk about the crafting bug that is currently live in-game. We’ve loved seeing all the fun clips of the shenanigans. That being said, our priority must be to ensure the health of the game. We've got an update from
@BungieHelp
, check out the latest below⤵️
UPDATE: We're working on two fixes for this issue. There are no plans for a rollback.
For the first fix, deploying within the next 24 hours, we’re building a server-side update that will disable all crafted weapons from being equipped. Players will still be able to craft weapons
We’ve been monitoring feedback around orb creation cooldowns and have a change going out with our next update currently targeting next week.
Equipping multiple copies of the armor mods Heavy Handed, Firepower, or Reaper will now decrease their Orb creation cooldown.
Reminder that, as with every raid launch, we won't have Trials of Osiris this weekend. The game mode will be back on September 15 with the Adept version of Igneous Hammer as a Flawless reward!
Fireteam Finder update! We’re really encouraged by what we are seeing so far. Some of our first teams have successfully cleared a raid using Fireteam Finder and we’re delighted to see Guardians uniting!
Here are some feedback points we are currently seeing...
We're seeing some folks asking for an Artifact Mod preview for Season 22! There are plenty of goodies that we're saving for Tuesday's Showcase... *but* we've got another blog post planned for tomorrow with more info so you can prep those builds early.

For the first time ever in Guardian Games history, we've encountered a three-way gold medal tie with Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks all winning seven days each.
But there can only be one winner and--with the tiebreaker--Hunters are your 2024 Guardian Games champions!
It's been an intense Guardian Games All-Stars, with the results coming right down to the wire. And the winner is... 🥁
🏹 Congratulations Hunters for winning Guardian Games All-Stars!
We've heard your feedback on the Skywatch Engrams and we are planning to boost enemy density in our next update. In the meantime, there are still several weeks left to earn access to the Legend Pin, and the Legend Title will be available until Codename: Apollo ships in 2025.
The TWID will return next week with new updates from the Crucible Strike Team. Today, we have an update to the community from the Destiny 2 Development Team:
Finished with this week's story mission?
Make sure to pay attention in your Heist Battlegrounds runs from now until Lightfall to experience some new dialogue before our 💠 end begins 💠 on February 28.
We are reducing the focusing costs for ritual vendors in next week’s update.
All Crucible, Gambit, and Vanguard Ops Legacy focusing will cost 3 engrams.
The only exception is unobtained Legacy Nightfall Weapons will still cost 5 engrams.
Regarding Anti-Barrier Sidearms this Season: we're super excited about the new Rocket Sidearm weapon sub-type launching this Friday in the new Warlord's Ruin Dungeon!
With the launch of Season 21, unclaimed vendor engrams will no longer be totally wiped when a new Season launches. However, due to the inventory limits of vendors, they will each only be able to hold up to 99 unclaimed engrams when a new Season launches.
We've identified an issue impacting Exotic Class Item drop rates.
At this time, Tier 4 Overthrow Chests are not contributing to increased drop chances, nor can Exotic Class Items be awarded through them.
An update from Game Director
@joegoroth
on the new release date for The Final Shape and what the team is working on between now and June:

We recommend being very careful on social media over the next few days to avoid spoilers. Remember to exercise caution and be critical of potential misinformation. (🧵3/6)
We are extending contest mode an additional day to allow teams pursuing the emblem more chances to take breaks, as well as allow anyone who has commitments on Friday to still have time to participate. More details will be available in a future TWAB.
