Very sorry to hear Allan Border has Parkinson’s disease. He was a cherished member of the Essex team in the mid to late 80s as well as one of Australia and cricket’s great batsmen. I know we all wish him well in the days ahead….

Very saddened to hear of Derek Underwood’s passing - a superb spin and cut bowler and an unassuming England and Kent legend. I once faced him on a ‘turner’ at Folkestone and there was only one Deadly Derek and it wasn’t me. RIP

Great catch by Mitchell Starc but he clearly doesn’t know the Law defining a clean catch….. if he did he would surely have made sure his knuckles were down and not up when he slid his ball hand along the deck……

I do wish commentators, and former players are the biggest culprits here, would not call the pitch 'wicket.' The wicket is the three stumps and bails. Not the 22 yards of rolled whatever between them.....tv and radio producers instruct please

Marathon Innings! #OnThisDay in 1995, @Athersmike scored his highest Test score :185* v South Africa at Johannesburg Atherton batted for 643 min (492 balls) to save the Test. His partner for last 2 sessions Russell batted 235 balls for 29*. ENG batted 165 overs in 4th inngs.

Whatever the collective noun for spinners (a twirl maybe) England are stretching it by playing 3 in the 1st Test v India. If the pitch turns big you need fewer bowlers not more. This smacks of Eng not having a clue who their best spinners are & playing them all as a consequence

I think the WACA is an amazing ground and should be protected as a Test venue - play white ball stuff over at the Casino if you must but let the proper stuff be played where it always has in that part of Australia....

Dickie Bird reckoned the greatest innings he'd seen as player or umpire was the 34 made by John Edrich against Australia at Edgbaston in 1975. Caught on an uncovered pitch after rain, Edrich batted for 162 mins against Lillee, Thommo and Max Walker - no helmets or armguards then

I felt that final lbw v Stokes was missing leg when saw it live. V surprised when Hawkeye had it hitting middle&leg. Lyon did not turn it enough from angle he bowled from to achieve that. I think predictive path fooled a bit after it deviated off Stokes front pad

The law says you must have control of both ball and body, the latter was still in motion after taking catch..,, Starc was careless putting ball on deck while still in motion

Three quarter sprint over 20 yards, gather, small leap, then compress left side with front arm pull, right-arm follows, seam up, bit of swing or seam & measured scowl in follow-through..Jimmy Anderson did this 33,717 times to reach 600 Test wickets...dedication, fitness & talent
