the productization of games have removed them so far from art that ‘it sucks to play’ is often seen as bad design and not something to just experience or overcome like any other problem the game wants you to solve or experience

Still chipping away at the DLC and loving it. But I wanted to take a moment to ask what the hell is up with this?🤨 This is by far the weirdest and worst design choice to me so far. It's the most obvious telegraphed weak spot an enemy has but they didn't trust players at all.

i liked ER but i hope they next fantasy game goes back to DS1 exploration/dungeon crawler roots, where combat is not the main focus + i love the slow almost turned based combat of DS1 and i would love for them to build a game around a less flashy combat system

i will admit im one of those folks. i wouldn’t be against a new direction. but all these remakes/masters only emphasize the technical modern achievements while drowning out their original charm. as an art form, it sucks, and i will decapitate myself on this hill.

I expect it every time but it's sort of disheartening for me personally to always see purity tests every time we get a new remake or remaster. The art direction of older games are held to such a giant standard that it's almost like it's sacrilegious to deviate. "Looks sterile",

read a quote that was basically like play is insintric to games. dont really think so. I think interaction is insintric to games, thats it. it’s an experience ppl interact with. I think ‘play’ can set expectations that can be a disservice to our experience.

jesus, i am retching. there is so much disregard of aesthetic intention with this kind of perspective. no genre is obligated to deliver you a certain art/non style. I am just so baffled at people hyper focusing on graphics no matter how much graphics improve??? what do you want??

was playing ICO last night and decided to check on yorda (the girl you escort) after a long puzzle only to catch her playing with some of the birds that are seen throughout the game I had no idea this could happen, I can't believe this is from 2001- this video game is magical

tinkered around with the menu screen. decided to move the descriptions of items from pickup - it would have been very tedious to drop/pickup items just to examine them. Also means no more large art for items, so lightens the load a bit!

"dont do a cold open" "dont frontload extended dialogue" "give me that precious gameplay" part of the reason i advocated for a chunky dialogue cold open at the start of roman sands re:build is because i am BORED of hearing ppl set these rules !!!!!
