This week I was formally diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, and I will begin chemotherapy shortly. The prognosis is good; I expect to be cured. This is jarring, I know. There is no elegant way to announce a cancer diagnosis, but there is a New York way: getting straight to it!

One thing I love about NYC: there are abundant free and low-cost things to do, resources to use, etc. Not just fun things like kayaking, but excellent libraries for co-working (and media production), low-cost and high-quality gyms sponsored by the Parks Dept, the list goes on!

Had an excellent time hosting my first @interintellect_ salon on the nature of corporate work. The thing that stood out the most for me was that individuals who seek independent livelihoods have a very hard time. It's a bespoke enterprise almost definitionally.

I'm doing a Mother's Day tweet now so Susan doesn't get lost among other posts. A parent who treats their child as an independent being with agency is rare. I am aware of my luck. I will never forget a childhood and adolescence of support, now an adulthood of camaraderie.

This Saturday, January 7, there will be an epic trash party in The Neighborhood NYC. We're gonna get hundreds of pounds (maybe a half ton??) of trash off the ground. And this is just the beginning.

I uploaded a picture of a bookshelf to chatGPT, asked it to output a table with the headers below, and asked for its best guess where information wasn't present or clear. It got every book title, and was decent at everything else except price. Definitely going to explore more
