she is not a showy actor. she is more naturalistic. alicent is a repressed, pent up, emotionally closed off woman. all of her feelings bubble inside just near the surface but the lid is on and this is how olivia both emotionally&physically embodies her. a quiet turmoil.

when we see alicent lose it, it is almost violent such is her repression. and only then does olivia allow herself to release a more raw energy. this is such a carefully calibrated performance&it’s odd to me that people either don’t see or more likely refuse to see the care in it.
