Here is my @clearpreso -ised attempt at the outbreak chart used at a govt Covid press conference earlier. The step by step reveal makes the importance around social group reduction much more understandable. @ronan_glynn @DonnellyStephen #Covid19Ireland

The 2024 local elections are the worst combined result for FFG, EVER. Astonishingly, FF are on track to get a lower first preference share than when Brian Cowen’s FF were rightly destroyed in the 2009 locals. FF got 25.4% in 2009, likely ~23% in 2024. Media are just spinning.

My completely uneducated prediction is Sinn Fein will go as low as 22% or lower in the polls in the near future. The more they open their mouths the worse and more cringe it gets. Independent candidates will shoot up to 20-25%.

*Literally* every time I hear or read the word "recession" I think of this election poster which I saw on a lamppost in Dalkey in about 2009/10:

The notion that any of RTE's headline stars were, or are, at threat of being poached by other media companies, especially foreign ones is completely laughable. Did RTE ever consider calling their fucking bluff? Who was gonna bid for cardboard Tubridy? BBC/Channel4? 😂🤣😂🤣😂

Stars in their Eyes Power of Tubridy's agent Noel Kelly, 'the real DG', now under scrutiny Dee Forbes and her programming team at RTÉ were said to be terrified that Kelly, in an instant, would sweep away any of his stars for greater riches elsewhere.

Irish Rail has proposed a new Dublin to Cork service that would leave Heuston at 6am and arrive in Kent Station at 8.32am on weekdays. It would be the first time that rail passengers would be able to arrive in the city from Dublin before 9am

If you ever want a perfect example of "civil service speed" (and I suppose competence) it's that Irish Rail have been trying to achieve getting a nationwide snack trolley service for about 2 years. Now imagine projects with more complexity.
