Indian parents: I will not buy one can of coke from the restaurant for $2.99 when I can buy an entire case from the grocery store for $2.99
Also, Indian parents: I will spend $250,000 on my kid’s wedding
A patient lost her crown that was done by me 5 years ago. She said it came off and she had it in a ziplock bag to get it recemented. Then she lost it somehow.
In my head, I was going to give her 20% off on a new one as a goodwill until she demanded that her new crown should be
Went to the emergency room last month.
ER doc spent 3 minutes with me.
ER room stay was 3.5 hours
Between the ER doc, ER stay for 3.5 hours, CT scan, radiologist fee, I received 3 bills totaling over $5,000. This was after “insurance adjustments”
My deductible is $7000

I would like to clear the air. It seems like a lot of you think dental care in the US is a scam because how much it costs despite having dental insurance.
The reality is that the biggest scam is these dental insurance companies. They raise premiums every year but keep the
New homeowner: I just bought a house. Now I don’t waste money on rent.
Also, new homeowner: I am spending an extra $400-500 a month on my house upkeep. Maybe renting was better.
My patient just graduated grad school and his pay is going to be $67,000 at a high school being a psychologist.
This is sad.
People with no degrees are making $80-100k easily these days.
Why would anyone buy a house right now and put themselves underwater for the next 2-3 years?
Interest rates don’t make sense
Prices don’t make sense
Why would you do this to yourself?
Went to lunch today with 8 people from my practice, racked up a bill over $29
Decided to pick up the tab myself at the end.
Why?
They work hard, and deserve it.
Submitting the receipt in quickbooks is the least i can do.
Just found out a friend lost her job of 15 years at a large company. She was easily making over $300K for the last 6-7 years.
The senior VP called and fired her in less than a 5 minute phone conversation.

Conversations at Indian events:

My biggest financial mistake last yr came from buying shit growth stocks based on recommendations from people that poured their heart & soul in doing excellent research, write ups
Lesson learned, I realized that long term, nothing matters more than cash flow and a sound business
As someone who’s spent more than 8 years in college, I think it is a complete waste for a lot of people.
Go to trade school, try out different fields, and get a job in something that pays well.
Don’t waste $100,000+ going to college, and getting a degree that doesn’t pay well
A very nice patient came in for three fillings this week. She has no insurance, and going through a lot.
When she went to pay for her fillings, we told her it was on us.
Investing tip: DOUBLE your budget
If you’re gonna buy a $1000 iPhone, spend another $1000 and buy some $AAPL
If you’re going to buy $150 Nike shoes, spend another $150 and buy some $NKE
If you’re going to buy $500 of stuff at Costco, spend another $500 and buy some $COST
I am mentor to a new dentist. She has almost a million dollars in student loans. This year she’s opening a practice, and that will add another $800,000 - $1 million in loans.
White weddings: $25,000
Indian weddings: $250,000
White wedding guests: close family and friends
Indian wedding guests: all family, no matter if you barely know them, bride and groom’s friends, all of parents’ friends and acquaintances, neighbors, jewelers, randos, etc.
Two observations today:
1. Costco had the lightest volume I’ve ever seen for a Saturday
2. Drove past a used car dealership and there were zero people shopping. The dealership is open regular Saturday hours today.
Housing will probably hang in there until interest rates drop to 3%.
Once this happens people can afford to sell their current house and buy something else.
Inventories will then explode and prices will drop.
Just got a quote to do minor repairs and repave my parking lot for $6,000.
Wtf is going on here?
For perspective, I paid $3500 in April 2021
End the madness
Takeout orders: When the only option is 15, 20, 25% on the first screen, pressing “other” to bypass tipping while they are staring at you is a bit uncomfortable.
Food tip: eggs are highly underrated. Eat a lot of eggs. Eat 3-4 eggs a day. Your body needs it.
You get 7 grams of high quality protein, 5 grams of fat, and 1.6 grams of saturated fat, along with iron, vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids per egg.
4 hours is the length of an average wedding.
$30,000 is the cost of an average wedding,
Borrowing a $30,000 loan to pay for a 4-hour wedding is crazy to me.
Divorce rates in India are skyrocketing. This is actually a good thing given how much abuse Indian women face in forced arranged marriages.
Glad to see women are standing up for themselves.
