The boon that I sought for 'the child' . A topic close to my heart.

20 years of founding Chrysalis. Beautiful journey with the most amazing co-travellers who have been with me on this roller coaster ride. Exciting 2021 and beyond in the offing. Having learnt to experience every minute mindfully, enjoying the preparation for what’s coming 😊
A morning well-spent watching several videos of

Took a ride with this uber driver in Paris, whose grandparents hailed from Pondicherry. His excitement that am from Chennai made him speak to me monologuusly throughout the ride about how his parents spoke Tamizh etc. Our roots does something to each of us, right?
While there are known facts about the legend, what i recall are lovely moments that I've experienced as his neighbor. The respect he had for his neighborhood, donations he made for cleanliness initatives, always warmly welcoming when we visited his house. Gem!

It is not everyday that you meet an international sports champion who has brought Laurels to your country. More unique is the fact that you have known this champion since he was 5! A gush of pride enhanced by

What motivated my mom’s generation to do elaborate cooking without any chance to showcase any of that on WhatsApp groups or social media? All the hours of toil in the kitchen would be devoured in minutes by the family, many a times without even a verbal acknowledgment! Wow 🙏🏽
Hate is the most unnecessary emotion. A total waste of time. Leading to behaviour that can range from verbal to physical violence. Let's shed hate and channelise our energies on something constructive!
Do journalists tweet in their personal capacity throwing away ethics of journalism? Their followers, in most cases follow them for their journalistic identity. Don't they?
Irresponsible tweets by so-called journalists that create unnecessary confusion in the minds of people cannot be retracted by deleting! It has to be clarified as tweeted in haste, without verification and apologised for.
The power of smell in our memories is understated! Many of my childhood memories, revolve around smell. That of of a soap regularly used by an aunt (mysore sandal!), the fresh, wet Vibhuti smell announcing my dad's entry into the room, karpooram and a dear uncle, (continued)

Chrysalis event yesterday saw over a hundred school leaders taking the pledge again. To stand up for the child, enabling to awaken human potential in every child🙏
Writing down home accounts, rupee to rupee, has been my new year resolution this year. One month gone by. Doing wonders. More mindfulness. More savings 😊👍
"I know what is right but I am not able to practice it; I know what is wrong and I am not able to keep away from it. I act as I am directed to by some mysterious power that is seated in my heart." Duryodhana in Mahabharata. Reflects the human mind's condition!

Chronologically too old to celebrate certificates! What gives me the kicks is the tremendous unlearning in the last 10 months with incredible co-entrepreneurs in class & immensely caring faculty. GSB's Stanford Seed program is truly transformational. But yes, see off the pic 😃
In the past: "why am I treated like the dustbin for people to throw their emotional garbage into 🙄" Present: "I am like this plant that absorbs the manure thrown in, to grow 😊"

The advise many of us would have heard from our parents and grandparents. "Stay quiet. Do not respond. Do not go down to their levels." Often, silence is the answer. Sometimes one may need to speak to ensure silence is not misunderstood as acceptance & becomes historical "fact"!
"She (Radha Viswanathan, MS amma's daughter, who shared stage with her for several decades) would be utterly dismayed at the disrespect in the essays. But she would advise me not to respond and dignify his statements..."

What is something that happened to you in your academic life or career that seemed like a huge disaster at the time but actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise?
Seven months ago at 100, my father-inlaw is walked out of his car to a hospital. A nurse swiftly brings a wheel chair for him. My Fil stops her & says"I can walk slowly. One should do what one is able to do" The nurse says "If patients are all like him, we will be out of job" 1/2

21 years of love, adventure, small bruises, anxiety, nervousness - but every night I have slept with satisfaction that we were building an organisation with a purpose. A big shout-out to my colleagues & our customer schools who have stood by us, no matter what!

In a gloomy environment around the country/world; ‘small’ things become so significantly illuminating. A cousin drives 6 kms to deliver a bottle of maavadu and Udupi rasam! We do have the power to make people smile by showing acts of love/kindness.
Five days. Four cities. Day long workshops and deliberations with school leaders. Sense of fulfillment and feeling of gratitude. Not everyone gets to do what they'd love to do. ❤️

A shout-out to this stellar oncologist in Chennai, who extended my mother's life post diagnosis, quantitatively. It was mentally and physically not "just bearable and largely pain-free" but indeed beautiful in many ways. For her & for us, her care-givers.

Am so proud that we,as a family, have had Roger as THE idol for the past 1.5 decades. He has made us cry in joy, cry in sadness. He has shown us how to come back from the dumps and how to be humble in the greatest of glory. Long live the Goat who keeps inspiring millions 😍
When the entrepreneurial journey is as long as 18 years old, and on a Saturday morning I find myself calling some customers and emailing colleagues with great enthusiasm , I am eligible to think am doing something right! 😊🙏

Reserve a bit of your weekend to call/ visit elders of the family or neighbourhood. Makes a huge difference to them as well as us. Small gesture but significant impact. 🙏
Want to know how it all started?
Listen to Chitra Ravi, Founder and CEO sharing the beautiful moment of how it all started “The mission Chrysalis to awaken the human potential” with the school leaders at a conference.
Omg. As I go through my TL I realise unlike so many people on Twitter, I have zero knowledge about political ideologies, languages, great poets etc etc. Well the only thing that gives me solace now is the adage " ignorance is bliss"!
Our education system unfortunately evaluates & grades students not on their understanding of a topic but on their ability to write about it. See a Chrysalis Grade 5 student's understanding of the concept of gravity 😊 What else do you think is visible about the child's thinking?
almost 3 decades ago, my father steered this along with Exnora (civic body) to plant more than 40-50 saplings in the streets in our neighbourhood. Today, this stands as testimony to simple yet significant step taken by a group of people ♥️🙏🏾
Impatience over "doing" multiple things cos life is "too short" is not clever. Try switching to doing a thing or two with lot more intensity and depth. The experience is priceless.
The only good thing about being popular is the span of influence that comes with it. If that's not used for the larger good, there's no point about popularity or celebrity-hood!
The first of my sleepless nights that I remember is from my childhood days! Counting minutes to 4 AM and await the first light to be switched on at home. The first cracker to burst. The new dress to wear. Idli, okkarai before sunrise. 😍

Kudos to you Sai Deepak ji and the team. My father hailed from Travancore and was a great devotee of Sri Padmanabha Swamy. If he were alive today, he would have been a very very happy soul 🙏
Interacted with a bunch of kids virtually. Their love for Chrysalis, their experiences of joyful learning gave me goosbumps. <10 years old kids, muting & unmuting based on turns, articulating their preferences, suggestions...😍Have to say it:,we underestimate kids all the time!

If learning to say 'No' is about assertiveness and courage; learning to say 'Yes' is to open up new possibilities, giving and expanding one's circle of influence. Finally it's about learning to strike a balance :)
Randomly my mind goes back to the days when we had dining table conversations, with appa leading the show! How he negotiated a new deal, how his cousin made his career in Bombay all the way from the village in Tirunelveli etc. Hard & soft skills were built at the table, indeed!
Panicked that I left my kindle behind on my flight. Wrote to the airline, researched on the latest kindle to order; upset about my negligence. Realised how attached I am to this device❤️
P.S Found it tucked deep inside my laptop bag 🙏🏽 my saturday is beautiful!

How beautiful it is to receive a message early in the morning from a school principal that "my school stands up for Chrysalis vision to Awaken Human Potential in every child". A vision shared is a vision accomplished!
